Sophie gets around quietly doesn’t she.

Definitely could see Andrew as a Andy 'Del Boy' Windsor in camel/sheepskin coat, check cap, cigar but not sure about the yellow plastic pig. (Only Fools & Horses)
Here's Andrew during his gangster phase & when he auditioned for Top Gun:

Soooo... who takes precedence?

Letizia does. There are quite a few videos of Charles greeting kings and their consorts. He always bows to both.

CurlyWurlyTwirly · 14/03/2019 04:55

Tonnes of never seen before photos of Diana
Fascinating !

PineapplePower · 14/03/2019 05:41

Charles is a sight in that gaudy ill-fitting suit!

Uggghhhh don’t get me started on William and Harry. They have access to the best tailors and they still manage to look scruffy most of the time. They don’t have any influence on men’s formal dress, that’s for sure

shuttersaregreen · 14/03/2019 05:50

Wow Curly, those are great! In some of them Diana and Charles actually look like they are in love. So sad. The annoying banner makes them very hard to view though!

QueenOfTheAndals · 14/03/2019 06:11

I imagine they were, just for a bit, in "whatever love is".

Yup 💨

My step father told me that joke when I was 8 and it still makes me laugh.

Will look at the Diana photos later.

queenofarles · 14/03/2019 08:25

Wow! Diana was so photogenic , she does not have a bad angle.

CurlyWurlyTwirly · 14/03/2019 08:55

In her very early 20s she was just ridiculously beautiful.
There was definitely a time when she was very much in love with Charles and he was smitten. I just don’t think he fell in love with her till after they were married.

ElspethFlashman · 14/03/2019 09:20

There was definate giddiness there at first. But lest we forget, within just a few months of the wedding she was pregnant and had thrown herself down the stairs to get his attention.

Even by her own words, she was very very mentally unwell from the start. She never kept down any food and would stay awake for days on end. There was a lot of breaking glass and hurling herself into glass cabinates and cutting herself with it.

One story she told was having an argument with Charles and he wasn't reacting like she wanted so she grabbed a penknife from his desk and cutting herself all over her chest and thighs right in front of him. It gives you the shudders to think about it. The next day she wore a V neck top and shorts to meet her sister. Predictably her sister was horrified, but then equally predictably, Diana was disappointed that her sister didn't react exactly the way she wanted.

It must have been horrific.

peridito · 14/03/2019 09:30

I had no idea that there was that degree of instability .

Are there articles where Diana discusses these actions ? Have you got links ?

QueenOfTheAndals · 14/03/2019 09:40

I'd heard the story about the bulimia and throwing herself down the stairs as it was in the Andrew Morton biography. I'd not heard the others though.

CurlyWurlyTwirly · 14/03/2019 10:11

I remember the penknife thing, and also the hurling herself into cabinets.
She threw herself down the stairs when pregnant with William and landed at the Queen's feet.
Quite a bit came out in the Morton Books, both in 1992 and after her death.

Did she actually admit to a diagnosis of anything?
Obviously her troubled childhood came to a head when she married into the RF.
I think she was well into her 30s before Diana was fully stable.

peridito · 14/03/2019 11:11

Poor woman . Wonder what resources the RF deployed in attempts to organise help and get her to accept it .

Rhubarbisevil · 14/03/2019 11:13

Probably a “pull yourself together, woman” attitude.

QueenOfTheAndals · 14/03/2019 11:13

Didn't she say she got no help? Those were the days of stiff upper lips and brushing things under the carpet. Explains why William and Harry have such an interest in mental health issues now, and urge people to speak out about it.

Do we have evidence of "her own words" online anywhere?

I didnt find her physically beautiful, I dont understand why people did/do tbh. She had a large nose and thin lips. Gorgeous skin and legs though!

NigellasGuest · 14/03/2019 11:33

I agree, I never found her beautiful in the least. Striking maybe, because of her height alone.Megan is beautiful

GetStrongKeepFighting · 14/03/2019 11:41

Meghan going on leave. BUCKINGHAM PALACE said so

Wetdogloveshubert · 14/03/2019 11:43

We're nearing the end, @QueenOfTheAndals !

Diana had charisma in spades, and photographed beautifully. Kate and Meghan are similarly photogenic. Meghan doesn't ever seem to look 'off'!

SlipperOrchid · 14/03/2019 11:48

I agree Nigella but the era has to be takeni to account too. I don’t think Kate is particularly beautiful either. She has good hair, is tall and has a great smile. In one hundred years time, I very much doubt people will look at her photos and declare she was beautiful. She reminds me of Jennifer Anniston - girl next door type. Attractive but not beautiful.

I think Meghan is beautiful and will still be thought of as beautiful by future generations. But she has had help, her nose and maybe more?

It is difficult to compare our generation to past generations because not many of them are natural.

QueenOfTheAndals · 14/03/2019 12:08

Meghan has no official engagements scheduled at the moment. That may or may not mean she's on maternity leave. If you read the article it quotes "a source" rather than the Palace!
