I quite like the McQueen with the sleeves.

I'm really sick of seeing her hair down though. She has such exquisite updos when she does and we haven't seen one with a gown for ages.

I have to say I'm not bothered by the cost of the blouse. It was paired with high street iirc and I can't get too much in a huff about royals behaving like, well, rich royal people.

Paradyning · 13/03/2019 06:50

In don't think it is a repeat but a second dress.
If you look at the placement of the flower motif adjacent to the 2 ribbons.

Unless when the replaces the bodice they did so down to the second ribbon.

This would fit best with Kate's usual modus operandi of buying multiples.

Conveniently, presuming it is the same dress fits into the thrifty duchess media narrative.

Paradyning · 13/03/2019 06:54

Look at the flower placement around the ribbons

I agree, I think they've replaced the whole bodice, down to the hip.

Elllllle · 13/03/2019 07:13

I really dislike cap sleeves.

The only thing I can think is that the first version was quite hard to wear being off shoulder (& the hoiking required!)

ChardonnaysPrettySister · 13/03/2019 07:32

I thought it was a different dress, because the sleeves and straps had no signs of being adapted and the fabric really shows darts and seams.

It's a new bodice, probably a top and a skirt, instead of a dress.

beanaseireann · 13/03/2019 07:41

Where do you buy your silk blouses ?

I didn't like Kate's dress when worn first and I don't like the new styling of it either.
The pattern is too busy and it doesn't look expensive to my eyes.

BlingLoving · 13/03/2019 07:51

Ok, controversially, when I looked at the pictures properly, i think I prefer this version. The bodice definitely sits better and seems to fit her better too. In the mini pictures on my app, it looked awful but i liked it full screen.

I also thought her hair was actually lovely. Although really, the problem is that she has too much hair and it's too long. I think it's starting to look a bit silly and immature. She needs to get a shorter, sleeker look that can also be tussled or curled for the sexy/fun/casual look when necessary. Even her up dos are starting to annoy me - they are so heavy and large and even though they are beautiful it somehow ages her.

ChardonnaysPrettySister · 13/03/2019 08:08

She looked a bit like Fergie in some of the photos in the Mail.

QueenOfTheAndals · 13/03/2019 08:14

I think the just below shoulder length cut really suits Kate. She had it done that time she went to Wimbledon in the spotted dress. It looked fresh and modern and might've been a darker shade of brunette too, though that could've been a trick of the light. No idea whether she dyes her hair or not.

Elllllle · 13/03/2019 08:18

@BlingLoving totally agree on the hair. I speak as someone who also has long thick hair and has tried for ages to get it cut short (to get that tousled, sexy look) but hairdressers are very reluctant. They think it will form an unsexy mushroomy vee shape. I would love to see K's straight just for something different. She's beautiful and can carry off anything really but the long bouncy wavy thing is as boring and matronly as the coat dresses

BigGreenOlives · 13/03/2019 08:19

She might have borrowed one of them from McQueen and own the other.

user1457017537 · 13/03/2019 08:21

Of course she dyes her hair and probably a few extensions as well.

QueenOfTheAndals · 13/03/2019 08:26

This is the cut I'm referring to. The colour is good too.

And it would've been hilarious if she'd gone full Charlie's Angels yesterday and paired the shaggy fringe 'do with the pussy-how blouse. Incidentally, why on earth is it called "pussy"-bow??

@beanaseireann I buy them from Nordstrom when I am in America (they ship internationally too). I also just wait for the sales and look here too. I really like theory, Vince and Ralph Lauren.

QueenOfTheAndals · 13/03/2019 09:06

&Other Stories has some silk blouses too, I think Meghan wore one of them in the summer.

Elllllle · 13/03/2019 09:22

From wikipedia: a lavallière or pussycat bow is a style of neckwear often associated with women's and girls' blouses and bodices. It takes the form of a bow tied at the neck similar to those tied around the neck of kittens, cats, and the like.

CurlyWurlyTwirly · 13/03/2019 09:33

I think Kate should wear jumpsuits.
this one from Boden is on sale! Grin

DontCallMeCharlotte · 13/03/2019 09:42

Kate was definitely wearing the blouse backwards.
If you look at the cuffs, the buttons are sitting on the inside of her wrists not the outside.

But then it would look really odd with a plain ordinary buttoned front and the bow down the back? It would need to be a slipover for the bow at the back to work I think?

So the pictures with Amal Clooney: I have a very similar dress to the lady in blue velvet (who she?) but mine is in a wine red. It was perfect for Christmas and New Year. But dammit, I want one in the gorgeous mid blue now! That's is absolutely my best colour and she's stolen it!

QueenOfTheAndals · 13/03/2019 09:56

That's Tamsin Egerton @DontCallMeCharlotte, most famous for being cast as Daenarys in Game of Thrones and then being let go after the pilot was filmed.

OP posts:
QueenOfTheAndals · 13/03/2019 09:59

Sorry, wrong Tamsin. It was Merchant who was cast in GoT!

Tamsin E is attending with her partner Josh Hartnett. Slightly odd that he's there as he's hardly in the same league as the actors he's pictured with. I haven't seen him in anything for ages.

@queen - yes, I have always felt that hair length is much nicer. The spotty dress was one year but I think she had it shorter another wimbledon year as well when she wore that white dress with the flowers around the hem that no one could identify? (I remember so well because at the time, DD, aged about 1, had a similar dress! Grin)

A shorter style would still be flexible. My hair is similar to hers I think and I've definitely realised that while I've been wearing it long for a few years, it needs to be shorter now. And actually, although I had it cut recently, I didn't cut enough and I think I'll be lopping off a couple more inches next time.

@Elllllle why can't they layer and/or thin it? My hair has a tendency to mushroom or mullet as it's so thick and heavy but, depending on style, layers and thinning make all the difference.

GrumbleBumble · 13/03/2019 10:07

Amal looks great in the group shot but the one where she is shaking hands she looks like she is trapped in a fitted sheet!

Poor Kate can't win flippy skirts and long hair are "too girlish" but her updo and dresses are "too matronly". She is probably in my camp when it comes to jumpsuits - who wants to have to strip down to their undies and have mile of fabric puddled on the bathroom floor every time they have a wee?

PinkSun9 · 13/03/2019 10:14

@ Paradyning,

Well spotted! The prints on the bottom section also look different.
