The McQueen dress looks much better with sleeves - the original dress was a re-worked design too, as the original design was narrow shoulder straps.

Beatrice just looks lumpy in that dress. She's not lumpy she just chooses clothes that don't suit her shape.

Spooky - I had that dress in my mind for a re-wear tonight... obviously this thread is hive minding for DoC!

Beatrice looks lovely in the plum, but I really don't like Kate's dress tonight (nor the original). It's less harsh with the capped sleeves but it looks unfinished without some jewellery.

Is Eugenie's dress an Erdem? She carries off busy patterns very well, but I don't like it with the boots.

I think the problem with Meghan's hat was that the designer was going for a Jackie Kennedy pillbox vibe, but wanted to tweak it a bit for, I suspect, a more modern look. It didn't work; it just looked like an old-fashioned nurse's cap, even more so on television, I think.

Kate - don't like the rework of the McQueen. I loved the original, it was one of my favourite looks on her. The cap sleeves & neckline just don't work with the skirt IMO.

Beatrice - love the colour on her. I think she's so pretty.

Eugenie - dress is nice, boots are nice but not together.

It’s such an amazing ability to rework a dress like KM’s McQueen tonight. So impressed by the skill.

As an aside, it was fascinating watching the McQueen documentary. He could drape and pin fabric on a woman in 10 minutes so that it looked about x100 better than I could sew it taking a full month and reworking multiple times. He had such a complete understanding of the mechanics of clothes. I like to think his mastery of the skill freed him to be so outrageously but brilliantly creative. In a way, it’s a shame seeing such tame pieces on the most straight-jacketed of wearers . I know it’s not her fault, but God was he talented.

One thing I noticed in watching the Commonwealth service is that Meghan has a great resting face and that whenever the camera caught a glimpse of her, she was looking engaged and interested.

I'm not crazy about tonight's gown. I liked the original (though it needed a good hoik!) but the reworking, coupled with the ringlety hair is just a bit... girlish? Kate can carry off far more sophisticated looks these days than that.

I've noticed that too @SenecaFalls, she also has good listening face and seems really engaged when she talks to people she meets at her events. She gestures a lot too, which we aren't used to seeing in a royal!

I love that DOC wore trousers! The cost of the Gucci top is eyewatering though. She could have easily worn a high street version.

I know what you mean @rosewater20. It's a lovely blouse but doesn't look like it's worth £800, even if it's silk. I saw some similar blouses in H&M this evening (non-silk) for £20!

@ I agree. I understand why they would wear an expensive designer gown because the craftsmanship from the design houses really shines in that department. But I don't see the need to buying a Gucci top to go play with babies. I wear a lot of silk tops for work and none of them come close to costing £800.

@7salmonswimming I watched the McQueen documentary the other night and was blown away by his talent.

As for tonight's gown, it isn't my favourite but I love that it is a rewear and I like how she reworks her clothing.

Much prefer the off the shoulder version of tonight’s gown although it did seem to sit a bit too low down or her shoulders/chest. It looks a bit more dressed down with the short sleeves and hair down — well as dressed down as a full length evening gown can be! Really like that it’s a rewear/repurpose although I selfishly like new clothes to discuss here!

Love KM's wide leg trews and pussy bow blouse. Great colour combination and her hair is fab.

Kate was definitely wearing the blouse backwards.
If you look at the cuffs, the buttons are sitting on the inside of her wrists not the outside.
