Yes thé gréen floral was Prada.
I like the pale pink Kate Spade too

QueenOfTheAndals · 06/03/2019 18:02

What's the latest on Kate fave LK Bennett? Are they definitely shutting down shop? I used to buy from them years ago but then their prices started to rocket and the clothes became a bit too conservative for my tastes.

Kate’s dresses over the years

She seems to go through phases of wearing exactly the same type of dress.
Last year, it was all McQueen Coat dresses.
Now it’s these prim shirtwaister type dresses ( no idea what they’re called)
She also went through an Emilia Wickstead phase when she first married.
Also this straight tailored Roksanda dresses.
Jenny Packham day dresses for Wimbledon .

I kind of feel like Meghan is starting to get into her style groove.
Whereby Kate May be getting into a bit of a rut.

She should definitely wear more trousers ( but not skinny jeans) and more separates.

The best most recent outfits have been the red tartan skirt and the trousers she wore to Cypress.

Trousers and a roll neck sweater would have been perfect for Blackpool.

PinguDance · 06/03/2019 18:24

OMG imagine a Kensington Palace Marie Kondo special

Notmyrealname855 · 06/03/2019 18:25

Love the red tartan skirt - yes it’s very obvious for Christmas, but so cute and a bit “Home Alone” somehow. It’s a timeless look that works.

Kate is very very slim hipped, and think this style of dress she goes for sort of covers it. She’s not fashion-adventurous and I’m fine with it, she’s never going to do the Leitizia red suit, so tbh I’d just put her in Hobbs and be done with it.

MM could do some cool Scandi style dressing, a bit Cos (or whatever the pricey equivalent is), to laid back Californian styles, to sharp suits (she had a great black trouser suit). She could wear workwear stuff but might look a bit Suits-y

PinguDance · 06/03/2019 18:26

Can we crowdfund for Mari Kondo to go round to Kate’s place and make her out all her polka dot dresses in a pile and decide which ones spark joy - and then a charity auction for all the discarded ones?

IdaBWells · 06/03/2019 18:31

I love the green coat on Catherine but I think we can see why she chooses the light blues because she is much more visible. When getting out of the car in Blackpool if you had been waiting across the street in the rain for 30 minutes you could've found her hard to spot in the clump of dark colours and brollies.

I personally like her dress uniform. It clearly makes life simple and she is completely modestly covered up so no chance of a cheeky cleavage shot. She can focus on the task at hand, relax and make her day be about the people she is meeting. Perhaps an idea would be for her to ask various designers to come up with versions of The Modest Dress that make it more up to date on cut or colour.

In future years although not the monarch, she will inevitably take many of the roles and tasks of Her Madj. I do think she is building a uniform around her identity so everyone will be able to spot her a mile off, just like the Queen. And when she feels like it she can go glam but a uniform relieves her (and her stylist) from dreaming up a bazillion outfits a year.

So many of us on this thread have been squawking for pantsuits. She has the perfect figure to carry them off and each time she's worn one she looks amazing. So as Curly and so many others have said, she really should add that as a missing uniform element. I wonder if it's purely the palace and the Queen herself dissuading her. As someone up thread quoted her implying she gets a bollocking if her skirts are too short.

Thedarklady · 06/03/2019 18:31

I'd like to own a dress like Kate's today but in a plain colour not a print, a solid workwear piece for me.

thatone · 06/03/2019 18:32

Don't love KM's look today but do OTOH do think that it suited the occasion.

LaurenOrdering · 06/03/2019 18:58

Well rumour has it Notmyrealname the word behind closed doors is that Meghan is carrying triplets. A scan photo has been seen.

LaurenOrdering · 06/03/2019 18:59

Obviously completely made up for the DM to run with.

itswinetime · 06/03/2019 19:00

I agree I think that high collared long sleeved dress is going to be Kate's look of choice this year! I'm glad that it means the end of the coat dresses yay but they are a bit bland. I agree with pp some strong pant suits would be a fab addition to Kate's wardrobe lots of the European royal ladies seem to wear them so I'm not sure why the British royals would think they were inappropriate 🤷🏻‍♀️

beanaseireann · 06/03/2019 19:04

Imagine you had to do those walkabouts and you're wracked with period pain or coming down with the flu but you have to keep on smiling. Or you've had a row with your spouse but have to go on walkabout together.
I'm sure it's tough sometimes.

LaurenOrdering · 06/03/2019 19:13

I like this on Rania. I think it would suit both Kate & Meghan.

I was looking at today's pics on IG and Kate definitely has more about her these days, she seems more confident and engaged (animated?) than years back. I think she's hit her stride a bit, has the kids, knows her role and can enjoy it a bit more. Glad to see she didn't have the dress buttoned up at the neck!

LaurenOrdering · 06/03/2019 19:18

Here's Kate in 2017 looking good though a more casual outfit.
And HMQ can rock a trouser suit even when she's recovering from illness/injury as seen here in 2003.

I love almost everything that Letzia wears and I agree that I wish Kate would look to her as a style guide.

QueenOfTheAndals · 06/03/2019 19:21

I think we'll definitely see more trouser suits on Meghan once she's had the baby. She wore a few before but she didn't really have much time to get into her royal fashion groove as she fell pregnant so quickly.

Where did Kate where the blue trousers and white blazer? She looks great and modern there. I wonder why she isn't keen on trousers because when you see her in casual wear, it is almost always jeans or workout clothing, so I don't think she is as fussy in her everyday life.

LaurenOrdering · 06/03/2019 19:42

Rose Kate wore this at the 1851 Trust roadshow at the Docklands Sailing and Watersports Centre, London.

Kate and HM both look great in the trouser outfits pictured.
A previous poster mentioned Kate in her not so good polka dot dresses (matronly) The ones I've pinned are better. Two are from while she was pregnant (navy one by ASOS and the short white one is from Topshop) and the blue one is after the birth of George (by Jenny Packham). The white other one is Dolce and Gabbana (Wimbledon).

Other white one not white other one.

rosewater20 · 06/03/2019 20:23

Thank you @LaurenOrdering! I wonder if Kate is more likely to wear trousers when she has private visits with charities.

QueenOfTheAndals · 06/03/2019 20:30

I liked the D&G polka dot dress but it doesn't look particularly high end does it? You'd never guess it cost about £1k more than the Top Shop one.
