Phillips Lumea has changed my life!

Just that, really.

Been using it since Xmas, every 10-14 days. Haven't removed hair from legs, pits, bikini line or arms in 10 days now and there's practically no regrowth. This isn't a sales pitch btw, I just wish I hadn't spent the last 10 years wanting one but thinking they were too much money!

Somebody asked if you still get those little black dots where the hair grows, the answer is no. I always seemed to have a shadow under my arms but since using my Lumea, my underarms are up close gorgeous.

7yo7yo · 30/04/2019 17:50

Watching this with interest.
Boots have a points deal on at the moment so get £10 worth of points for every £50 you spend IN STORE or £10 worth of points for every £60 you spend ON LINE.

gotmychocolateimgood · 30/04/2019 18:59

Yes Dogwalks, it's like the hair was never there at all!

strawberrisc · 01/05/2019 06:56

Can it be used more than every 2 weeks?

gotmychocolateimgood · 01/05/2019 08:42

My understanding is cc that using it more often than every 2 weeks doesn't increase the rate of hair follicle destruction so it's pointless as it won't improve your outcome overall. Happy to be corrected though.

gotmychocolateimgood · 01/05/2019 08:43

You can shave more if ten than every 2 weeks though with no impact on the lumea. Over time you need to shave less regularly as it grows back so slowly / not at all

DC3dilemma · 01/05/2019 16:39

@GoldenSyrupLion

Not at all -you shave first then it treats the roots to disrupt the growth cycle. It’s not instant and I can’t see how ingrown hairs would be an issue.

DC3dilemma · 01/05/2019 16:42

@gotmychocolateimgood

I agree, more frequently than two weeks doesn’t make sense if you covered all the areas thoroughly.

But the big draw back to the design is not quite being able to see where the rectangle sat on your skin -I’m not sure if I really overlapped properly...so thinking about weekly, so I get a second chance to get any missed spots if that makes sense?

strawberrisc · 01/05/2019 22:48

@gotmychocolateimgood
Thanks!

@DC3dilemma
Same here!

icannotremember · 05/05/2019 13:59

OH MY GOD THIS WORKS!!!

I went to shave my legs this morning and half asleep thought, hmm, why are they so patchy, there's whole strips with no hair on them at all.. and then a few minutes later I realised it's that the Lumea is working!

I am so excited. I'm so flipping hairy, with sensitive skin which is very pale, and this is genuinely going to change my life. Best investment ever.

beanaseireann · 05/05/2019 16:01

Hopefully they'll invent something for those of us who are fair skinned and fair haired but want to remove the hair too.

icannotremember · 05/05/2019 20:50

Electrolysis apparently works on all hair shades but idk if there are diy versions of that.

deadsexy · 06/05/2019 09:49

Legs and underarms have greatly greatly reduced! However I can't see any improvement at all to pubic area, why would that be? Thicker pubic hair maybe? I'm pale done there, black hair, on setting 5 x

SheepGoesBaa · 06/05/2019 09:54

My chin is the problem area for me. When I was in my 20s (about 24/25) I first noticed some dark hairs on my chin. It wasn't a problem as such back then. I tweezed once every 3/4 weeks and that was enough. As time went on (I'm 36 now), more and more dark hair appeared on my chin. Now I can't pass 2/3 days without tweezing and sometimes when life is busy my schedule doesn't permit me to take time out and look after myself. Sometimes I can let a week go by unintentionally and the chin is then problematic with hairs.

I wanted to get a home IPL for a long time. It appears as if I might be an ideal candidate with fair skin and dark hair. A lot of the known brands are just so expensive for me. I bought an IPL device last night from Amazon and I think another poster here with Gin in her name has it too. It's the Syosin. I will get a few packets of razors when I'm in a shop over the next few more days and will switch to shaving for the IPL journey.

SheepGoesBaa · 06/05/2019 10:52

I'm just after reading this online about IPL

www.laseripl.net/know-using-ipl-laser-hair-removal-home/

It's some do's and dont's list.

On the list it says no plucking or waxing a month before treatment.

I'd this true? Did people here who have used home IPL followed this? I just tweezed last night. I definitely didn't get it all though and there will be more hairs on my chin within the next few more days. Does it mean I have to wait a month now to begin with the IPL device?

TheGoodEnoughWife · 06/05/2019 12:10

Thank you for this thread. Very helpful!

Can anyone answer a couple of questions for me please? The prestige one with two attachments - does that have the slide feature? Which ones do have the slide feature?
Also the prestige one I am looking at says it senses the right setting for your skin colour - can that be overridden? As I see a lot of you use the highest setting anyway - I would like to be able to use the highest setting if I wanted to!

whitehalleve · 06/05/2019 15:02

@TheGoodEnoughWife I have the prestige with 2 attachments. It has the slide feature and you can choose which strength you want.

TheGoodEnoughWife · 06/05/2019 15:28

@whitehalleve thank you!

worldwandering · 06/05/2019 21:08

Having a dither about the 2 models. Is it worth paying an extra £60 for the Prestige over the Advanced? Seems like it might be faster but is that the only difference?! Thanks

kettle81 · 08/05/2019 09:33

I don't know how to post the link, but boots is doing an offer on the essential Lumea for £140!

Also, does the 200,000 flash mean that's how many flashes it produces, then it's no longer of use?

gotmychocolateimgood · 08/05/2019 10:19

I got the essential lumea. It works fine 🙂

BringmeGin · 08/05/2019 20:51

Bit of an update on the Syosin, glad someone else has one Sheep, we can compare notes. This one says to do it 2-3 times a week for the first 4 weeks which has confused me but I have done it twice a week on armpits, legs and bikini line after shaving for 3 weeks, then got a bit slack. Or so I thought..... but then I realised the last couple weeks that I'm only shaving once a week which is why I'm only doing it once a week! I definitely think the hair is growing back much more slowly than before. But still early days as it says 8-12 weeks to see a real difference. I will report back again x

Crazycrazylady · 08/05/2019 21:01

Quick questions ladies

I have a very low hairline on my neck. Always think my hair looks untidy when tied up because of my hairy neck..
Soo two questions . I have naturally very dark hair but it's starting to go Grey which I color . Anyone used it on Grey hair and on their necks?? Or am I the only neck gorilla person I know...

Peridot1 · 09/05/2019 16:02

Been following this thread for a bit but haven’t ordered as was confused as to which model to go for. Anyway just been looking and Philips have clearance prices on some models. I ordered the Prestige BRI 1950 reduced from £520 to £312. I’m not entirely sure it’s that same as the main Philips website as I couldn’t see the clearance ones on there.

This is the link I used here

DC3dilemma · 10/05/2019 17:07

@Peridot1 I bought that one too but googled for a discount code and got an extra 14% off. I’ve used it once and am very pleased already. Armpits already have patchy bald bits, bikini line too, legs a bit patchy but not as dramatic.
