Forgive my ignorance, but are skinny jeans still in, or straight leg, or what? Thanks! :) (Living in Brighton in my thirties, if age or location makes a difference!)

Definitely not ageing and of the moment I think. Skinny jeans and dyed hair looks aging imo.

Oh no I think grey hair is the single most ageing thing a person can do, it always has that coarse texture as well that adds to it (I'm talking about men too)

Floisme · 19/02/2019 12:09

Grey hair may be aging - it depends on how much that bothers you. But I think it can also look far more stylish than trying to cover it up, unless it's done very well.

Skirmisher · 19/02/2019 12:17

I think grey hair can look absolutely amazing but it does make people look older. Not that this should bother anyone.

SemperIdem · 19/02/2019 12:23

Skinny jeans are the denim hill I have chosen to die on.

If I want a different shape, I don’t wear jeans at all. I’ll wear trousers.

spinabifidamom · 19/02/2019 12:31

I prefer skirts and dresses. I wear leggings at home.

icannotremember · 19/02/2019 12:44

I wore bootcut jeans this weekend for the first time in about 10 years. It felt very odd at first but I got lots of compliments from people I was meeting up with, and when I caught sight of my reflection unexpectedly I was struck by how much better this shape suits me than skinnies. Tbh I don't think there is a particular cut that is 'in' at the moment (unless you count mum jeans on enviably lithe young women, which I am not) so you just need to go for what you feel is right for you.

Skirmisher · 19/02/2019 12:50

I think in 20 years time a lot of people will look back at photos of their skinny jeaned selves and wonder what on earth possessed them to go out dressed like that. I mean that's part of the fun of clothes, looking at old photos and laughing at your past fashion choices. But I do think a special shudder will be reserved for skinny jeans. They truly flatter so few people.

Floisme · 19/02/2019 12:58

When I wear bootcuts my thighs disappear. This is a scientific, peer reviewed fact.
But I'm still not keen on the flappiness, which is bizarre and totally unscientific as I love widelegs. But there you go.

SleepyDibillo · 19/02/2019 13:07

Bootlegs are no good in the rain though. Which rules out about 95% of the year here in the north.

chapthedoor · 19/02/2019 13:51

I agree about skinnies and in the future we will laugh but all fashion is like that. In ten years time we'll look back at now and say - why were everyone's trousers too short Grin

I am tempted by bootcut jeans, I have muscular calves so that even slim/straight legs look skinny on me. As I grew up wearing bootcuts I didn't realise this until I started wearing skinny jeans !

I live in black skinny jeans because I have nice legs but hate my flabby mum tum and hips. Any other style of jeans seems to accentuate them. I tried on a pair of Mom jeans a few months back and holy fuck, I looked hideous. Anyone found any high waisted jeans that are actually flattering?

DorothyZbornak · 19/02/2019 16:37

Skinnies all the way for me.

notanothernam · 19/02/2019 17:59

@MinisterforCheekyFuckery I find high waisted skinnies very flattering, probably depends on body shape and what you wear it with

MinisterforCheekyFuckery · 19/02/2019 20:36

notanothernam I've been looking everywhere for a decent pair of high waisted skinny jeans but the shops seem to be full of Mom Jeans or wide leg jeans at the moment.

notanothernam · 19/02/2019 20:46

@MinisterforCheekyFuckery Next have quite a few www.next.co.uk/g5274s2#604454 I usually pick them up in the sale though.

Hairymess · 19/02/2019 21:51

The nicest high waist skinnies I have found are Levi 721. Not cheap but I did get mine with 30% off. I got complimented on them! That never happens!

Hairymess · 19/02/2019 21:52

Oh and they're not too skinny either - bit more relaxed which is perfect for me.

SchnitzelVonKrumm · 20/02/2019 13:08

I wear skinnies in the winter (turned up plus hi tops or ankle boots) and boyfriend/barrel leg when it warms up (plus lo tops or heeled sandals - barrel leg in particular look weird with winter footwear).

BrassicaBabe · 20/02/2019 15:01

I've just bought some gap straight leg jeans. I'm struggling with styling the footwear Confused

clippityclop · 20/02/2019 15:13

Oh no...I've just discovered M&S jeggings and bought three pairs. The short fit is perfect for me. I'm size 8/10 hourglass I also love Uniqlo's straight high waisted jeans but it seems they've been discontinued. What on earth should I be looking for?

slcol · 20/02/2019 15:39

I have greying hair. Doesn't bother me. I hate dying it because it is so short it needs doing a lot, my hairdresser calls it 'natural highlights' 😂 Not sure it makes me look older, maybe makes me look my age? Never seen the fuss about looking as old as I actually am though, ageing doesn't worry me a jot.

Jeans wise, I'm a 16-18 and not huuuugely trendy, but look ok I think. I wear either grey skinnies with trainers/boots or relaxed skinny/girlfriend style slightly turned up with trainers. As the weather warms I switch to flip flops/sandals. I live somewhere pretty casual.

Villanellesproudmum · 20/02/2019 15:40

If you want the latest must have jeans Huit are apparently the latest popular Jean, made in Wales, bit of a waiting list.

AnyFucker · 20/02/2019 18:46

Lordy, the price of those Huit jeans !

Nice. But I have a pretty identical pair to the Huit Girlfriend from River Island at a quarter of the price

YourFly · 20/02/2019 19:09

Surely skinny jeans are what drainpipes used to be?

I love them with flip flops, uggs, converse, nike air max & chelsea boots.
