Have the Santaals and the Blak Foodie. Haven't tried the Killian and can't remember much about the Le Labo. But the PP Santaals is quite green and bitter (figgy, leathery notes). The Blak is sweet honey and tobacco (you need to like that slightly urinous sweet/animalic-dirty honey note). Never really sure how I feel about the whole dupe thing...

For a more wholesome/delicate honey, I see 4160T's Centrepiece is SotW this week. Oddly chemical opening (don't be put off - only lasts for a minute or two), then delicate green tea, honey, vanilla and frangipani. (I don't like big tonka-ery vanillas. This is much more delicate (and IMO, interesting) than, say, CVC).

1frenchfoodie · 24/03/2019 07:36

Must look at the Black a bit more closely MrsMoggs , I didnt really have urinous in mind and honey is not my thing - Centrepiece sounds lovely to eat or drink but not wear Smile I think I may have confused Black with Smoke for the soul also by Killian so you have saved me a silly purchase.

The Santaals sounds good, I love a green bitter figgy note.

I need to be stopped! Int he last two weeks, ive bought Gucci Guilty EDP, Gucci Flora EDP, Prada Infusion d'Iris Absolue EDP, Guerlain Insolence EDP and Givenchy Live Irrésistible Délicieuse EDP. Most of them were on clearance, in my defence Blush I also picked up 2 Juicy Couture perfumes to put away for xmas presents for nieces Blush

MotherOfDragonite · 24/03/2019 09:22

Thank you, MrsMoggs. I like the sound of Centrepiece but I don't think I'm brave enough to blind buy!

SOTD is Shangri La by Hiram Green. I fell completely in love with it when my samples arrived yesterday and made a big impulse purchase of two bottles as it was not only on 30% off on his site, but also being discontinued :-(

I don't know quite how to describe it, it falls outside my scent knowledge to be honest. It's a chypre. I thought it might be a bit too 'mature' for me when I first put it on, although I loved it, but the drydown was more complex and playful than I had expected. I'm actually really sad that it's being discontinued as I could have seen it becoming the scent I wore for a long time (I am a more monogamous perfumista when I really fall in luuuuurve).

MotherOfDragonite · 24/03/2019 09:49

I also sampled Moon Bloom and Slowdive from the Hiram Green parcel. Both gorgeous too. Moon Bloom is a rich floral (but I don't think I've acquired the taste for tuberose yet!) and Slowdive is a paeon to honey -- I'm going to try it again in colder weather as it didn't feel quite right for spring for me.

teta · 24/03/2019 09:51

Mother I absolutely love the scent of Hiram Green Dilettante. I have a 10 ml bottle that I bought cheaply on eBay. I’m agog at his latest prices though. I’ve re/tested Moon Bloom and Arbole Arbole. One is very reminiscent of a salty slightly bitter Play dough. The other ( which I think is raved about) is a lush Tuberose.
Sotd is the two Hiram Greens!
I’ve been wearing Mito edp for spring ( a lush Cristalle on steroids crossed with Private Collection) for the last couple of days.
I couldn’t march yesterday but thank you to everyone who did. I’m hoping something has got to give and sincerely don’t want it to be Gove.😡.

CountFosco · 24/03/2019 10:04

SotD EA Green Tea. Beautiful spring day here.

MrsMoggs · 24/03/2019 10:22

You'll have to tell us where you are finding these bargains Onenight Smile.

Mother, two of the brilliant things about 4160T are their 9mls bottles, and their scent of the week. Combined, they allow for some pretty affordable experimentation (think the Centrepiece 9ml is £10?). And easy to flog on ebay or swap here if it's not a keeper....

teta · 24/03/2019 10:42

I’ve just sprayed myself with the contents of a Ineke sample pack. All I can say is the perfumes are so generic, synthetic and ordinary. They make Jo Malone smell bloody brilliant. I’m particularly disappointed by The Lilac one and Idyllwild, their new green perfume. All I can smell in it is a harsh fruity rhubarb. Sometimes you can smell certain perfume ranges and they may not be your thing. But you can appreciate the artistry with which they have been made. The only artistry here is the beautifully presented sample box with its little rolls of different coloured tissue paper. Even the enclosed Patchouli oil smells clean and emasculated.

I went with pp by the fireplace for the March 🇪🇺

Sotd is 4160 extra sexiest scent on the planet ever

Lotsofpots · 24/03/2019 12:28

It was LE no15 for the march here. My marching was not particularly impressive - I headed there straight from a kids party with my eldest (3yrs), armed with dinosaur balloons and a party bag. Joined the accessible march and peeled off home as soon as we hit parliament sq to get the over-sugared, over tired preschooler home.

OneNightTimeMenaceStrikesBack · 24/03/2019 13:41

mrsMoggs the prada came from Savers and everything else was on clearance in good old Boots! you might get lucky in your local one if you have a look! other stuff the had in mine included calvin klien obssessed, contradiction and obssession, few juicy coutures and Robert Cavalli Nero Absolue. few givincheys as well. i didn't buy the cavalli even though i liked it as it smells pretty similar to something ive already got :)

67chevvyimpala · 24/03/2019 15:10

I rather like Gucci guilty

MotherOfDragonite · 24/03/2019 15:55

They're very good value, MrsMoggs -- but I seem to have a very unpredictable hit rate with 4160s so far... I think I'm going to stick to samples for a bit until I get my bearings. (Unless Eau My Soul comes on half price. I loved that unreservedly!). I feel that almost all of the Tauer fragrances float my boat, yet with other houses I have to figure out my likes/dislikes more.

DD (5) is rather unforgiving about fragrances -- yet also weirdly accurate. She thought that one of my samples smelled like dog wee, another like berries and wet leaves, and another like Calpol. All of her verdicts were, on some level, entirely correct when I thought about them...

MotherOfDragonite · 24/03/2019 15:59

I wish I'd gone on the march. DD is still poorly but no actual vomming. We're in that weird limbo where everyone feels kind of ok but not ok enough to go out and do anything.

Judystilldreamsofhorses · 24/03/2019 22:17

SOTD Chanel Coco Mademoiselle. I don’t even really like this, I just wanted something a bit comforting, I used to wear it years ago.

California reverie is Sotd. Beachy citrus and Jasmine. Last year I went through a large bottle in 4 months. It’s subtle and I need around 6 sprays for longevity. I found it difficult to use any other perfume, so I deliberately didn’t buy another bottle until now. I still enjoy it as much as ever. I do worry sometimes that my nose is ‘ broken ‘ as many new offerings are just pants. Or maybe this is a stage that every perfume lover goes through.
I was awake for hours last night feeling rotten. The bloody birds or maybe one bird were singing from 2.30. Why? It was a really clear night and a bright moon. I wonder whether they thought it was daytime?

67chevvyimpala · 25/03/2019 12:09

Sotd 4160 extra sexiest scent on the planet ever.

KaliforniaDreamz · 25/03/2019 14:41

Judy i find Timeless really comforting x

67chevvyimpala · 25/03/2019 15:31

Me too!

MotherOfDragonite · 25/03/2019 20:26

SOTD is Shangri La again. I can't stop sniffing my own wrists. Hiram Green is a genius.

I have a couple of Marina Barcenilla samples arriving soon, which I am really looking forward to. I wish there had been a sample of India available though as that is the one I am really interested in.

Judystilldreamsofhorses · 25/03/2019 22:16

SOTD was Tauer Carrilon Pour un Ange again. I really, really love this. Why can’t I love something I can buy with the £50 of Boots points I have?

teta hope you’re okay?

On the bird front, our cat has suddenly taken to appearing in our bed at about 5.30am, shoving her furry, purry face in mine. Usually she waits for me to get up at 6.30, so I think the light/birds are waking her up. I try and settle her down between us for a bit, but if she gets no joy from me she walks over me and starts with DP. He gives her short shrift and dumps her on the floor.

My turn to be awake most of the night last night....ugh.

I'm off out to meet a friend for coffee so need a sotd.

Might go for ACDD

MotherOfDragonite · 26/03/2019 08:00

SOTD is Eau My Soul. Girls semi-poorly and we had a bad night.

teta, are you feeling any better today?
