Here we go again, and as always say what you like about the clothes but keep it civil re the wearers of said clothes!

Victoria is too iconic a name to be given as a first name.

I kind of agree although it didn't stop a whole slew of Queen Victoria's decendants from using it in the 19th and early 20th Centuries. It seems as though half the princesses born during those periods were called Victoria, and that includes Prince Philip's grandmother and the Queen's grandmother Queen Mary.

SenecaFalls · 26/01/2019 22:22

I also like Georgiana, but with the Geor-jane-a pronunciation.

kooshbin · 26/01/2019 22:40

Comparison photos are problematic. Facial hair (beards) can detract from the basic features. What strikes me about Harry is that his eyes are just like Charles' - narrow bridge of the nose and eyes are quite close. A lot of the Windsor look is in the lower half of the face, and Harry favours his mother in not having that Windsor somewhat heavy lower face. I'm not at all an expert, of course, but I can see all the differences and similarities in my own children who definitely have the same parentage.

Scandaloso · 26/01/2019 22:42

For a split second I thought you meant 'the same parentage' as in Charles is also your kids' father Grin

Tortycat · 27/01/2019 01:14

I like Rosa if its a girl, but think too many 's's' when paired with Sussex. Agree with a pp who suggested Isadora. Dorias middle name is Loyce which seems unlikely, and maternal grandparents were Arnold and Jeanette which i cant see...

For a boy i could see Charles ir Philip as middle names but think they will go with something less traditionally Royal for a first name. Winston? Ernest? or maybe Joseph?

Bloominglovely · 27/01/2019 03:30

I thought for a moment you meant Alan Bennett!

I thought for a moment she meant Alan Titchmarsh!

Bloominglovely · 27/01/2019 03:43

I think she will have a girl. For no other reason than I believe that women who have their first child (without intervention) at an older age, have a girl first. That was the case for me anyway :). In days gone by, a daughter would have been able to help her mother as she grew old. My theory is a load of codswallop really although the majority of the older first time mothers I know have daughters first.

Will Megan use the name Doria? The royal mothers don't seem to have much of a say when it comes to naming their children, so I doubt it. I wonder if they would choose a name that means something/is significant to Botswana?

Clionba · 27/01/2019 05:46

There's no evidence to suggest that the gender of a foetus is affected by the female's age.
Botswana! I like that!

CurlyWurlyTwirly · 27/01/2019 06:16

Gosh woke up thinking about baby names.
There is no reason why there could not be a new Lady Diana Mountbatten Windsor.
It’s been close to 40 years since she used that title and if anyone should use it; it should her granddaughter.

Clionba · 27/01/2019 06:20

It sounds nice, Curly, but would they want to lumber a child with the "Lady Diana" name? It's so loaded. Think of the headlines "Charles hugs Lady Diana" "Lady Diana wees on Camilla" etc etc

CurlyWurlyTwirly · 27/01/2019 06:22

For a boy; I think Charles and Phillip are shoe ins for middle names.
I would go for Albert nn Bertie for a boy.
It was the Queen’s father’s given name, and he will be Lord Albert; not Prince Albert with all those connotations.

Also curious about godparents as it will show who Meghan has bonded with since she has arrived in England. I think there will be the ubiquitous Jessica Mulroney. And perhaps the other bridesmaids mother to maintain the American connection

CurlyWurlyTwirly · 27/01/2019 06:25

@clionba; I didn’t think of it like that.

Georgiana (with the pronunciations as Sid up thread George-Jane-a) was also a Spencer.
Meghan definitely does her research, so am expecting a thoughtful name.

Scandaloso · 27/01/2019 06:26

I wouldn't be surprised if they call a daughter Diana. Their children will play a more peripheral royal role than William's so the name wouldn't have the same baggage attached. If that makes sense.

itswinetime · 27/01/2019 06:36

I think Diana as a middle name is definitely possible I would think they would want to use it as the first name as the press will just make to many comparisons. I wonder if Elizabeth will feature if it's a girl. Boy or girl it would be nice to have a nod to Meghan to I'm not sure if Doria has and middle names or maybe her parents?

CurlyWurlyTwirly · 27/01/2019 06:39

Ways wondering what the DM was going to drag up for their Royal Sunday Special ( there is always an article). This week ( not going to post a link). It is Meghan & bump touching. Such old news.

CurlyWurlyTwirly · 27/01/2019 06:56

The Monagesques at some bonfire event

Prince Jacques sporting I think Gucci . I am not keen on Charlene’s poncho

I can see H & M choosing Alice, after Princess Alice of Battenburg, Prince Philip's mother, who was hospitalised for MH reasons (was diagnosed with schizophrenia in 1930), upon release sheltered Greek Jews during the Holocaust and ended up as a Greek Orthodox nun. She was also congenitally deaf.

I love Eleanor and Rosa as suggestions. Also Helena, which is gorgeous imo. I could see Alexandra or Adelaide or Victoria too.

However, I would say they might go off piste altogether and choose something along the lines of Mia, Isla or Savannah.
Or maybe something popular but not royal - Isobel, Lily, Violet, Amelia.

No idea at all about boy names. Most likely not Thomas.

Paradyning · 27/01/2019 08:08

Ouch. That Charlene outfit is not good.
She looks happy though.

What about Eliza? That would be nice

TipseyTorvey · 27/01/2019 08:08

Quick placemat whilst I catch up.

Paradyning · 27/01/2019 08:10

Why not Thomas? Was wondering yesterday if there are 'Catholic' names that would be considered taboo to the (backward in this dept) RF. I wonder if Thomas would be considered like that?

QueenOfTheAndals · 27/01/2019 08:15

Princess Marie wearing a dress that's both Middletonian and Marklesque. Does anyone else think of her as kind of the Sophie Wessex of Denmark? Keeps her head down and does a lot of engagements but doesn't get the attention of her more glamorous in-laws!

QueenOfTheAndals · 27/01/2019 08:16

@Paradyning for obvious reasons!!

Paradyning · 27/01/2019 08:20

Oh god yes!!! I am being stupid. Shame as it's a lovely name.

Paradyning · 27/01/2019 08:21

Agree re: Marie. She seems to just get in with it. Love the colour of the dress.

Wonder if her Danish has a French lilt.

Clionba · 27/01/2019 08:32

Not Amelia. There's a Lady Amelia Windsor.
Living the life of Riley....
