Here we go again, and as always say what you like about the clothes but keep it civil re the wearers of said clothes!

I am 100% behind Meghan and Harry highlighting unfashionable/ marginalised causes. Perhaps the banana thing was a stroke of genius as it will bring them even more publicity, let’s face it we are still talking about it.
From seeing a quick video it was a spontaneous, off the cuff idea. It was very Meghan, and came from the heart. However, for her personal brand, it has inevitably been twisted, and there are various headlines linking “sex workers, Meghan and bananas”.
She really needs to meet with her communications secretary more regularly. ( although he is someone who was involved in Brexit, so not sure what that says about his credentials).

When Kate has major engagements, her Private Secretary, Catherine Quinn is often in the back ground to advise her. She is a chief exec type person so has obviously been chosen for her experience.

Meghan has Amy Pickerill who is an assistant private secretary, which appears to be a modern day version of a lady in waiting. So she is there to help, rather than advise Meghan.

Ahhhh these tweets explain CP Mary's odd jacket. It's a corporate armed forces uniform. I guess like female number 1's.

I've just had a google and the articles about the banana signing are overwhelming positive, even from the Sun. It's just the DM who tried to twist it into something negative and tbh we know they have an agenda.

Agree Curly Meghan needs advice & isn’t getting it or isn’t listening.

QueenOfTheAndals · 02/02/2019 08:36

Just realised the BAFTAs are Sunday week, not tomorrow!

QueenOfTheAndals · 02/02/2019 08:36

But I think Kate has a daytime engagement on Monday so we'll see her then.

Kate’s visiting a couple of schools on Tuesday @queen

queenofarles · 02/02/2019 08:40

but really who writes messages on bananas to sex workers? a card / post- it with a simple message on them signed Meghan & Harry would have been a million times nicer. IMHO its just improper.

People have dug out her old two bananas spooning insta post which was her way of drip feeding the public that she and Harry are in a relationship and are just making fun of it all.

DobbyTheHouseElk · 02/02/2019 08:44

Apparently MM had seen the banana thing on school children’s ,unchboxs. Thoguht it was a good way of empowering them. I imagine they won’t eat the banana now.

QueenOfTheAndals · 02/02/2019 08:51

I think it's just a very American thing, this writing of "empowering" messages.

OP posts:
Clionba · 02/02/2019 09:13

I'm not one for these "empowering" messages, but to be fair, it was done as a positive act . It came from a good place, and if one of the recipients felt better, or even had a laugh, then it's a good thing. Harry and Meghan clearly have good intentions, and the homeless, marginalised and exploited all could do with a bit of support.
I just wish that Meghan could have made a speech, I think that's a real strength.

beanaseireann · 02/02/2019 09:18

Surprising that Kate hasn't a nice blingy ring for her right hand. I noticed she hadn't in the photos of her going to her Mums party.

AlsoBling2 · 02/02/2019 09:47

I don't think William wasn't there to try keep the press down. I mean, the press is not nearly as interested in him as they are in her!! He obviously wasn't there for some other reason.

I think she looked seriously pissed off. Don't blame her. As much as anything she must want yo know who leaked that they were having a party at pippa's.

ElspethFlashman · 02/02/2019 09:50

She doesn't seem to have any interest in rings though. Even in her single days she only wore teeny gold ones that were obviously 21st birthday presents or something.

She was wearing her mahoosive tassle earrings. She's definitely an earring girl but definitely not a ring or bracelet girl.

Poor Camilla! She gave her gold and silver link bracelets as an engagement present and they were only seen once!

ElspethFlashman · 02/02/2019 09:53

Am very surprised Pippa doesn't have an underground/back lane car parking area in that big house? Must be a mare to get parking on the street every day.

Gooseysgirl · 02/02/2019 10:17

I'm going against the grain here but I thought Meghan looked great yesterday. Her bump is similar to mine on my first pregnancy - I was enormous by the end. I wore lots of non maternity wear and chose stuff I could wear again after. I really don't see any problem with that. HOWEVER she definitely needs to reign in the spending...

Clionba · 02/02/2019 10:20

Elspeth I think Pippa does, all those Chelsea mansions do. Maybe Kate thought it wasn't necessary for a couple of minutes walk.
Talk earlier of Meghan and clothes arrangements - Pippa has a few, for clothes and accessories.

QueenOfTheAndals · 02/02/2019 10:40

I wonder who tipped the paps off? I know Diana used to do it herself but I don't think Kate's like that.

OP posts:
DobbyTheHouseElk · 02/02/2019 10:42

Maybe Kate was dropped off up the road a bit as the road was full of parked cars, and she’d had to walk through the paps to get to pippas.

In one shot I saw the pap looked incredibly close, like they were barring her way.

Someone must have tipped them off, I imagine she pops to her sisters frequently without getting noticed.

DobbyTheHouseElk · 02/02/2019 10:43

No I don’t think Kate would tip the paps off. They don’t like the media invasion.

GrumbleBumble · 02/02/2019 10:58

user things have moved on times have changed and even very young children are encouraged to be outdoors everyday regardless of the weather. My cousin's daughter is at a fully outdoors (i.e. no permanent building) forest school nursery in Scotland. The kids who had schools closed for snow around here spent hours sledging and snowball fighting. Babies are put in prams outside nurseries in Scandinavia to sleep. It's fine they don't dissolve in the snow.

Notmyrealname855 · 02/02/2019 11:17

The royals aren’t allowed to borrow clothes though (to a pp). It’s a strict policy, it’s otherwise seen as merching and a massive no-no. The problem with shorter visits - unless it’s a full day - is unless they hammer home where the royals went, do any of you actually remember the names of the places they go? I can’t name any of these organisations but maybe it’s just me! From this last visit I’m remembering the overpriced clothes, kids in the snow, and bananas Confused The royals or there staff need to do something that allows a platform for these organisations - more speeches by those working for the organisations maybe.

We need to do a fantasy football but with royals! I’m not sure how to make that happen but it’d be so fun picking out their clothes for each upcoming event :)

beanaseireann · 02/02/2019 11:42

ElspethFlashman
Unlike Kate I'm definitely a bracelet and ring girl.

Moononthehill28 · 02/02/2019 11:51

agree that the causes seem to be taking a back seat to the clothes and the Bump. I can’t remember any of the actual causes. So what’s the point? Bananas for sex workers with little messages seems seems really naff and not very serious. It’s a serious issue which was trivialised.

CurlyWurlyTwirly · 02/02/2019 12:26

Closer France ( oh the irony) have done a little retrospective on Carole. There are a couple of early unseen photos of Kate.
Also it mentions that Carole has been volunteering at George’s school. A lot of the grandparents are encouraged to and one of the popular jobs is Lollipop Lady! ( originally reported in the Sun )
