Previous thread.

Usual rules - say what you like about the clothes, keep it civil re the wearers.

@VamillaSugar Grin

Sorry, I know it wasn’t a regal topic to bring up but I didn’t have anywhere else to flaunt my new found knowledge!

CurlyWurlyTwirly · 05/01/2019 21:37

I doubt very much if Vogue Williams knows Kate’s kids. Was she even with Spencer when Pippa got married? She could know Brian’s older children. This does however have the makings of a DM article.

CurlyWurlyTwirly · 05/01/2019 21:41

I don’t live in the UK anymore, but anyone got any good high street suggestions for Meghan & Kate ?
I shall trawl a few websites to put some frugal outfits together for the new year.
Maternity for Megs & some baby wear.
More flared pants for Kate.

New game gang, dress a duchess on the cheap!

LaurenOrdering · 05/01/2019 21:48

Well seeing that the UK Royal Family's upkeep costs me less than a £1 a year as a taxpayer, (I think that's every person in the UK) it's a a bloody good return at the max of £5 a year for our family total of 5.

ElspethFlashman · 05/01/2019 21:49

She was with Spencer but only for a couple of months so wasn't invited to the wedding. Which was fair enough tbh.

LaurenOrdering · 05/01/2019 21:50

i.e. in the terms of entertainment & pleasure.

CurlyWurlyTwirly · 05/01/2019 21:50

Belgian Royals on holiday in Egypt So normal.

QueenOfTheAndals · 05/01/2019 21:55

@CurlyWurlyTwirly LK Bennett, Hobbs and, dare I say it, Boden are very Kate. Meghan is more Reiss and &Other Stories. Maybe with a bit of Cos. Their clothes are so generously cut they could serve as maternity wear.

Zara probably has pieces that suit both duchesses and they're doing maternity wear again.

evening dress for meghan

Day outfit:
raspberry suede biker jacket,

Worn with this black body con dress
I think the little cape effectlooks a bit Givenchyesque. She can also breastfeed in it, so Meghan will get good wear.
I have added a stretch over the knee boot as she has slim legs.

CurlyWurlyTwirly · 05/01/2019 22:05

I can totally see Kate in those 2 Boden dresses.
I think this thread should offer our services now that Natasha Archer is on maternity leave / has left and Meghan needs a bit of guidance when not wearing Givenchy

CurlyWurlyTwirly · 05/01/2019 22:09

Thanks for the heads up on those labels @Queen
I really like this Cos coat for Meghan. Unfortunately it’s black, but it’s definitely looks like her style.

LaurenOrdering · 05/01/2019 22:16

Hercules & Curly you've totally nailed it for both Kate's & Meghan's outfits.
I can see Meghan in this (a bargain at £25.99 in the sale)

This M&S dress is pure Kate

rosewater09 · 05/01/2019 22:20

@LaurenOrdering that seems like a small amount of money but when you add it up all it means that Queen and her family are receiving millions of dollars per year from the taxpayer. According to the CNN, The Queen received £42.8 million ($58 million) free of tax from the Sovereign Grant in the 2016-2017 fiscal year. The payment was projected to balloon by 78% to £76.1 million ($103 million) in the latest fiscal year to help finance an extensive renovation of Buckingham Palace. The Queen then receives income from the Duchy of Lancaster (a private estate) as well. This last fiscal year she gained around 20 million pounds from Lancaster. I refute the claim that the Royal family brings in tourism which offsets the cost to the taxpayer. If no longer had a royal family, and instead we opened up all of their houses, put their artwork, etc. on display (like in France), we would be bringing in more money to the UK. I am a big fan of the royal family but when you see how much money they take in and how much they spend on luxuries it puts the whole thing in perspective.

QueenOfTheAndals · 05/01/2019 22:21

I would dress Meghan in Cefinn. This dress or this one. Possibly this coat. This entire outfit.

Damnit Sam Cam but I like the clothes you design!

@LaurenOrdering.
Love the leopard print and the square neckline. Meghan would look amazing in it.
I would actually pair it with this black leather jacket

QueenOfTheAndals · 05/01/2019 22:25

@rosewater09 And that doesn't even include the cost of their day to day security. Wardrobe costs are a drop in the ocean compared to that!

OP posts:
QueenOfTheAndals · 05/01/2019 22:26

@LaurenOrdering That's very like the dress Meghan wore to the retirement home the other week isn't it?

OP posts:
LaurenOrdering · 05/01/2019 22:35

@CurlyWurlyTwirly I adore that black leather jacket from JL.

@QueenOfTheAndals yes it's a similar style though the other dress should have been altered to enhance/fit her growing/shifting shape.

@rosewater09 true that's a very valid point but it doesn't bother me.
Some will agree with you, some will agree with me, some won't care & some will wonder what the hell we are going on about!

CurlyWurlyTwirly · 05/01/2019 22:35

I know it’s bordering on chavvy, but I like this Holland Cooper blackwatch jacket

And not together, but this trilby she needs some country clothes.

rosewater09 · 05/01/2019 22:43

Loving the raspberry biker jacket and the COS black jacket.

QueenOfTheAndals · 05/01/2019 22:44

I could see Kate in that entire outfit, including the skintight jeans, though maybe she'd get the jacket buttons replaced with some that are less ostentatious.

I think the £1 per person is a bit of a conservative estimate, it doesn't take everything into account. What I object to is tax money for the upgrade and renovation of property which they have for private use ie not Buckingham Palace etc. The cost of KP apartment for W and K, the upgrades for H and M, the St James apartment renovations for Beatrice and Eugenie etc.

CurlyWurlyTwirly · 05/01/2019 23:14

MInisters etc get their property refurbished; probably more often than the royals. I am not excusing any of them, but the minority of the people at the top benefit from a disproportionate amount of the country’s wealth.
The alternative to a RF is an equally expensive and short termite president
