Previous thread.

Usual rules - say what you like about the clothes, keep it civil re the wearers.

Edward’s pink hat is quite something, nice to be able to see a man accessorized.

VamillaSugar · 11/01/2019 10:24

Gosh, Sophie looks like she’s going to trip over that dress as it’s caught on her shoe. See? This is what separates us! The RF ladies don’t trip. People like us and Jennifer Laurence do.

BlingLoving · 11/01/2019 10:25

I actually don't have an issue with the expensive coat at that event. I think nothing is more patronising than pulling out your cheap clothes to attend a charity event. Her shoes are ones she's had for year.s The dress wasn't particularly expensive so really just her coat and bag, which women in her position tend to have on the high end and rewear. Hell, my budget is a fraction of hers but my most expensive items are coats and bags. I'm wearing a smart coat I bought 8 years ago and while it's looking a little bit tired, it's still completely wearable and therefore worth the £600 I spent - money I would never ever spend on anything else as I simply don't have it.

On a separate note, I'm thrilled about this because when I stopped working in the City I tried to track down a charity like this as I had heard of them and wanted to donate my old city clothes. But when I got to the shop, it had closed and i landed up simply donating them to the regular charity shop next door. I am sure there are loads of people like me who this extra light on Smartworks will lead to almost instant improvements in donations etc.

Childish and immature? Am I ?? For calling out the utter shite coming out from some posters?
So the person who likened Meghan’s feet in the Perspex shoes to chicken squashed into a glass jar is someone to be considered adult and mature ??? Right !

desertgirl · 11/01/2019 11:02

Eh, not in this fight, but I thought the post about chicken in glass jars was about the Perspex shoe thing generally (so also, Letitzia etc) - a comment on a style of clothing rather than a ‘bitchy’ comment about a person. Maybe you read it more of a personal attack than other people did?

QueenOfTheAndals · 11/01/2019 11:16

@LovingLola I've just looked back through the thread and the posts you and @Becles made around 11.20 last night were spot on. There's a difference between critiquing the outfits (tbh I didn't think the chicken comment was that bad) and making a bitchy comment about the wearer.

It's fair enough to query the cost of Meghan's wardrobe but comments about her not knowing how to dress for the season just sound a bit silly, especially as the current London weather is mild compared to Canada.

Equally so, Kate's clothes are fair game but I find comments about her being too thin and/or gaunt (not necessarily on this thread) can go to far.

Anyway, for something new here's Maria Theresa of Luxembourg in a striking teal velvet trouser suit and perfectly matched jewellery. Accompanied, as always, by Richel Farageberlain!

Sweet lord, calm down lola

I've tried these Rossi plexi heels. Chicken squashed into glass is a very adequate description. My feet are wider than MM you can only imagine how ugly they looked.

just like how these awful louboutins platform heels were described as stripper shoes, TOWIE shoes..etc by anyone who dares to wear them.

no one said anything bad about her Aquazurras because they are all very nice and look elegant on her.

QueenOfTheAndals · 11/01/2019 11:47

*can go too far.

queenofarles · 11/01/2019 11:58

People made fun of DoC Headbands and have called them all sort of stuff. The York girls..well they get extensively discussed on everything they wear!
i could go on and on .,

This whole team MM attitude is really childish and speaks more about the person who takes things personally and start hitting out Confused

katekat383 · 11/01/2019 12:02

queenofarles

BigGreenOlives good point. but i think it would have been more appropriate to wear something recycled, not brand new coat.

Beauty is subjective, i see MM as ordinary too , also don't think the likes of Elizabeth taylor or Jackie kennedy as great beauties, never understood all fuss. thats my own personal view.

But its always implied on these threads, which discuss royalty from all over the world, and are allowed to talk about them freely in any way except for MM. No idea why ida called some of the posters, who criticized the shoes as bitches and sycophants. So childish and immature hmm.

Well said. One runs the gauntlet here if one expresses an honest view. It is best not to rise to the bait.

I completely agree. There is a certain amount of pushing collective weight around, on this thread. It is not pleasant but rather than reporting it, it is probably best to let the material stand and to let readers of the thread make up their own minds.

NameChange4572 · 11/01/2019 12:12

Changing the subject....

And I’ve namechanged so that my future posts won’t be linked to this....

Tomorrow I am going to meet a real life aristocrat aka Viscountess Hinchingbroke who is running a yoga course that I’m booked on. There’s a Q&A session afterwards so I can ask her a question on your behalf if you like.

She’s from Chicago and married into the Sandwich family. She was interviewed by the BBC when H&M announced their engagement as there are parallels.

She’s vegetarian so no “BLT or prawn mayo” questions please Grin

RatherBeRiding · 11/01/2019 12:16

LOVING that teal velvet look on Maria Theresa!

keiratwiceknightly · 11/01/2019 12:30

I read that as a teal headband on Mother Theresa and thought "ooh that's a departure from the teatowels she generally used to sport!

CurlyWurlyTwirly · 11/01/2019 12:32

Going to take a break from this thread for a while.
I agree that we should not be bitching about the royal wearers, but equally we should not be being rude to each other, hence my comment to @lola about calling other posters bitches and sychophants

I’ll be back next week when there are engagements and clothes to discuss.

Bloominglovely · 11/01/2019 13:01

I am going to bail out for awhile too. I’m getting all hot and bothered about what I perceive as injustice to MM, a woman I will never meet. I’m also a republican so what any of them do bears little or no relevance to me. I definitely root for the underdog.

parkinpig · 11/01/2019 13:06

Re Maria Theresa (whom I love):

She met her husband at Uni, it was a real love match. His mother would have made your blood freeze, however - she called MT "the little black girl" as she's Cuban.

VamillaSugar · 11/01/2019 13:10

Oh Sad. Promise you’ll come back?

SadSad

QueenOfTheAndals · 11/01/2019 13:13

@Bloominglovely and @CurlyWurlyTwirly I hope you're both back soon.

DontCallMeCharlotte · 11/01/2019 13:14

I normally love Marie-Theresa's * outfits because despite not having a catwalk body, she is still utterly fab-u-lous.

Not keen on this outfit though. It definitely has a Florida Retirement Condo vibe. But I love the fabric and the colour though (and how well the first lady guest co-ordinated with it!).

  • (or is it Maria Teresa? I never knew she was Cuban - I bet she and Max have a ball when they hook up.)

Does she have a tiara? If so what is it's history and what does it look like? Grin

Oh Curly and Bloomin - we'll miss you. Or I will.

Goodness me, doesn't Grand Duke Henri remind you of Nigel Farage?!
