Previous thread.

Usual rules - say what you like about the clothes, keep it civil re the wearers.

BlingLoving I will indeed (if I can find one? That doesn't come from the home department).

Well who knew about Queen Paola and her bands. She looks lovely.

The investiture "hat" looks like a fancy dress outfit if you're going as a Labrador. It does looks like a sad penis.

QueenOfTheAndals · 07/01/2019 17:30

Queen Paola was stunning.

With these headbands it seems to be a kind of challenge: Are you beautiful enough to look good with a big banana on your head?

Only the rare few carry them off successfully.

MotherofPearl · 07/01/2019 19:01

Catching up on the thread. Ida, what brilliant news for you! Though I'm afraid I'm not going to joining CABHAS - as you say, membership is pretty limited. Grin

MotherofPearl · 07/01/2019 19:01

to be

DontCallMeCharlotte · 07/01/2019 19:07

I wouldn't mind turbans either. I look my best before I take the towel off after a shower.

IdaBWells · 07/01/2019 19:12

I do love a lot of '70s era Princess Anne in her turbans and capes.

mikado1 · 07/01/2019 19:28

Fantastic IdaBWells !

Thanks Laurenordering , got on great, thank you. In my PJs sans headgear now lol. Love your neck cushion AB headband!

Ilovedotcotton · 07/01/2019 19:34

I lurk on this thread every day but I can never keep up so it takes something really special to make me post...

Congratulations @IdaBWells. Bloody fantastic news!!

Quantumblue · 07/01/2019 19:43

Happy to be part of CABHAS! Kate's whole look is really growing on me.
I find it amazing to look at the cute Monaco twins and think that they are Princess Grace's grandchildren. Seems like so many eras ago.

beanaseireann · 07/01/2019 19:58

CABHAS
I'm out!

I loved the hats worn by HMTQ in the 60’s. In fact I just love the hats from that era including the headbands and turbans. I used to love the blue ones worn by Pan Am stewardesses and the pillbox hats worn by Jackie Kennedy.

DontCallMeCharlotte · 07/01/2019 20:16

Oh. My. God. How could I have forgotten?? It was my turn for the royal dream last night. It was brilliant. I was at a reception hosted by Mathilde and she and Max spent the whole time in cahoots with me in a corner. No idea what was being said but there was much laughter. Everyone was wearing empire line/Regency dresses. I was wearing my wedding dress which is that style. Lots of glorious updo's.

I then woke up for a wee and managed to pick it up where I left off amazingly! Only this time Max was hosting and was thrilled to see me and once again she, Mathilde and I had a great laugh - it was me making them laugh. No idea who I was meant to be. I mean I can hold my own at a party but the only person who could monopolise two Queens at their own parties is probably Max herself.

She was so lovely. I'm even more in love 💕

(Only down side - no tiaras. Boo.)

Ooh first Meghan sighting for 2019 ahoy! She and Harry will visit Birkenhead next Monday.

CurlyWurlyTwirly · 07/01/2019 20:39

@dontcallmecharlotte
That sounds like the Best Dream Ever. Besties with Max 💖

Glad Meghan is going to Birkenhead.scousers are so lovely.
What’s the engagement @Queen?

QueenOfTheAndals · 07/01/2019 20:49

They're visiting "a number of local organisations that support and empower groups within the local community" and doing some sort of Wilfred Owen walkabout.

OP posts:
QueenOfTheAndals · 07/01/2019 20:51

One of the charities they're visiting is Tomorrow's Women, which sounds like a great organisation for Meghan to support.

I’ve just been looking into Queen Paola of the Belgians. I’d never heard of her till @Queen mentioned her on an earlier thread.
She’s still attractive now, but it must be wierd to go from amazing beautiful to age, however gracefully.

She and her husband, King Albert look to be . I didn’t realise they were still alive and also abdicated for King Phillips in 2013.

CurlyWurlyTwirly · 07/01/2019 20:53

What is a Wilfred Owen walkabout?

VamillaSugar · 07/01/2019 21:01

It’s where you cross a canal bridge and get shot at whilst composing poetry.

Sorry.

Wilfred Owen was a WWI war poet, but he grew up in the south west of England so nowhere near Birkenhead.

IdaBWells · 07/01/2019 21:16

Thank you Mikado MotherofPearl and everyone else. I stumbled upon this thread a couple of months ago, and it's been a cheery place to hang out ever since!

Paradyning · 07/01/2019 21:23

Gosh Queen P looks exactly like Beatrice Borromeo in her youth. She was stunning as you say Queen.

Curly. They split a while ago then got back together I believe.

Clionba · 07/01/2019 21:30

Anyone know what a Wilfred Owen walkabout is?

LoversLane · 07/01/2019 21:32

Excellent news Ida! Star

Cinnamus · 07/01/2019 21:35

They're going to visit the Wilfred Owen World War I memorial in Hamilton Park and meet war veterans.
