Is this jumper/tunic too mumsy?

DH says it is, and not 'London' enough. I thought it would be nice for casual wear. Late 30s, am a mum!

Saying something like 'not London enough' makes me immediately think he's not from London and is trying too hard! 🙄 no Londoner would say that

WanderingTrolley1 · 01/01/2019 20:51

Where’s the jumper you pictured, DIY? It’s gorgeous.

Hohocabbage · 01/01/2019 20:52

Can you take the jumper and move out of London then?
Not sure if it’s helpful for you to realise how many people think your dh sounds like an arse, but maybe in some ways it is.
What I want to know though, is do you keep a special square of carpet next to your window for standing on when you try things on?

Hohocabbage · 01/01/2019 20:54

You do also look properly amazing. Is he going for the whole bird-in-a-gilded-cage thing?

WildFlower2019 · 01/01/2019 20:55

Who gives a shit what their DH thinks of their clothing? FWIW, I love that sweater and I wish I had your figure to pull it off. X

Flower777 · 01/01/2019 21:07

When I was in my early 20s I was wearing a lovely pale blue chunky knit polo neck and my sun glasses.

I remember my friend saying to me ‘you look really cool. You could live in London!’

I was like, err.

Anyway I don’t like the back of the jumper in question but if you do then that’s all that matters!

dellacucina · 01/01/2019 21:28

Hohocabbage Grin that's my mother's house. The wall is actually a bank of doors and this is a mat.

And yes, my life is a bit bird-in-a-gilded-cage. DH and I make a lot between us but he makes more and believes this means he controls the purse strings

another vote for keep the jumper and ditch the husband....

Justmuddlingalong · 01/01/2019 21:34

And yet you stay.

dellacucina · 01/01/2019 23:10

Ugh, there is a long backstory best not gotten into!

Wandering, the jumper in the first pic is from COS (love all their A-line and slouchy knitwear):

www.cosstores.com/en_gbp/women/knitwear/product.high-neck-a-line-jumper-grey.0631193005.html

Second one is from Loro Piana (so major £££ but sold out anyways):

www.lastcall.com/Loro-Piana-Winterland-Slouchy-Cashmere-Turtleneck-Sweater/prod43200204/p.prod

COS had another fairly similar jumper to the Loro Piana one recently. It was still on the website before Christmas but seems to have sold out. Very annoyed with myself for not buying it immediately now.

I also like these from COS and Arket:

Della you could start a new year count down to liberation now. If an end is in sight it would be more bearable! BUT also avoiding caring what he thinks would be a start.

WanderingTrolley1 · 02/01/2019 01:30

Thanks, DIY!

CollyWombles · 02/01/2019 01:32

It is perfectly fine for lounge wear but other than that, it is very shapeless and doesn't do much for your figure. I also agree that the colour is a bit meh. You look dark haired with pale skin, could get away with some bold colours!

dellacucina · 02/01/2019 01:46

I'm returning it and have now bought some new jumpers in cashmere, one of which is more loungey. Will post photos!

dellacucina · 02/01/2019 01:47

I'm too sad and frustrated to do a countdown like that, though I do appreciate the idea!

dellacucina · 02/01/2019 04:28

The blue one is a lovely soft loungey type of jumper in cashmere! The black one is also comfortable and not skin tight and is of Merino wool.

The first one is okay but it's hard to see the detail, I do not like the blue one at all, BUT that's my preference and of course it's up to you.

Ethel80 · 02/01/2019 04:46

I like the first one although the previous poster is right that you can't really see the detail.

I don't like the second at all, sorry. It seems a bit frumpy.

dellacucina · 02/01/2019 04:48

Interesting! They are both from an old ladyish shop. Any specifics on what you all don't like? Frumpiness - anything else?

OP posts:
Ethel80 · 02/01/2019 04:53

On the blue one. I don't like the neckline, the colour or the shape, sorry!

I can't really see the black one clearly enough but the shape is better.

dellacucina · 02/01/2019 05:01

Eek! I almost bought the black version of the blue jumper instead but I basically always wear black and I thought I should change it up. But it sounds like this isn't a popular choice anywayBlush

OP posts:
dellacucina · 02/01/2019 05:04

I should possibly mention that the blue one is still something I imagine wearing around the house / when I want to feel cosy the weekend. I probably would never wear it to work or anything.
