Is this jumper/tunic too mumsy?

DH says it is, and not 'London' enough. I thought it would be nice for casual wear. Late 30s, am a mum!

I like it and think you look great so I wouldn't return it.

I would, however, return the husband.

dellacucina · 01/01/2019 16:10

He has quite a preppy style. He often dresses quite badly at the weekend as he is very cheap and can't be bothered to update his wardrobe, but he looks nice when he is going out etc. He does take care with his appearance generally.

Don’t often wander into S&B. Now I’m in two minds about whether to google “preppy” style and am feeling a bit scared Grin

FamilyOfAliens · 01/01/2019 16:18

I bit the bullet.

OP, if this is the sort of thing he wears, he’s a fine one to talk Grin

His going out style is not so different from that other than the shoes. He has gone a bit more hipster since we met, probably due to my influence.

OP posts:
FamilyOfAliens · 01/01/2019 16:26

You’re not selling him to us, OP Grin

dellacucina · 01/01/2019 16:31

I'm sure I'm not! But hipster may not be the right description. What I mean is he has dark plastic glasses (understated, not tryhard looking) and will wear eg plaid flannel tops over a tee shirt and cool trainers.

Ostagazuzulum · 01/01/2019 16:38

This has left me in a quandary!! I'm
From London but live up north. Should I've dressing like a Londoner to remain true to my sophisticated roots or like a northerner to fit in? Please ask your husband?!! WinkGrin

Op- you look great in that jumper! It looks comfy and if you like it then who cares what he thinks! Leather leggings and some biker boots and I reckon that's you looking pretty swanky for the school run!!

FamilyOfAliens · 01/01/2019 16:45

I’ve come back to ask what “cool trainers” he wears (I have a 20-year-old DS so am interested to know what someone your DH’s age would consider cool).

dellacucina · 01/01/2019 16:51

Ha, I don't mean actually cool. Just nice looking, not an obvious dad trainer.

OP posts:
dellacucina · 01/01/2019 16:56

For example he'd probably wear something like this: www.nike.com/t/air-force-1-07-lv8-style-mens-shoe-b1CXg6

OP posts:
FamilyOfAliens · 01/01/2019 17:41

DS says all the girls at his uni wear those trainers Smile

Kikipost · 01/01/2019 17:43

Op

Sorry if I missed this. Do you live on London?

pyjamama · 01/01/2019 17:44

keep the jumper and ditch the husband

Kikipost · 01/01/2019 17:50

I have searched done a search history of you OP as thought I remembered user name

Good lord. You have started so many threads above your awful marriage. Sounds awful

dellacucina · 01/01/2019 17:58

Yes, I live in London but am from a very unsophisticated corner of the world.

To be fair, this is a thread about a jumper and DH's involvement was ancillary.

OP posts:
Kikipost · 01/01/2019 18:00

Really
The first word of your thread is “DH”.

And the entire thread is based on a comment he made.

DameDoom · 01/01/2019 18:05

To be frank, it is not great but you have a lovely figure and can wear it slobbing round the house.
My DH would not give a shiny shoite whether I was wearing slouchy Brora or Matalan specials - he does notice as is quite stylish himself but would certainly not comment.

OneOfTheGrundys · 01/01/2019 18:07

It sounds rather quaint! Rather Jane Austen, concerning oneself with the ‘London fashions’! Or what everyone’s wearing for the season in Bath or something. Stay away from the sprigged muslin, I’ve heard that’s rather passé.
I like it for snuggling. I’d keep it and enjoy the soft cuddliness.

FamilyOfAliens · 01/01/2019 19:07

Thing is, OP, your DH was the reason you posted.

Had he not made his comment about the jumper not being “London” enough, I wouldn’t have been at such pains to point out to you that his fashion sense is more off-kilter than yours Grin

dellacucina · 01/01/2019 20:17

Ok, fair enough! The relationship definitely has been difficult and I can't argue that the thread was precipitated by his comment.

OP posts:
dellacucina · 01/01/2019 20:18

*can't argue with the fact that it was precipitated by this

Applepudding2018 · 01/01/2019 20:39

I think it's a nice jumper but is a bit big for you do the back doesn't lie flat as it's meant to.

I think that Macy's is an American store? Did your mom buy it online or is that where she lives?

Betty777 · 01/01/2019 20:42

too mumsy for what?? Not London enough? Depends on your look and what you do (though my house is too cold for this)
It possibly looks a bit cheap though (sorry)

DonDrapersOldFashioned · 01/01/2019 20:45

The back makes it look cheap rather than ‘mumsy’ (I bloody hate that word).
