Is this jumper/tunic too mumsy?

DH says it is, and not 'London' enough. I thought it would be nice for casual wear. Late 30s, am a mum!

I like it 🤷🏻‍♀️. What the hell constitutes being ‘London enough’?!

wizzywig · 31/12/2018 17:01

its a bit meh. you have a great figure. i think its something id wear around the house.

ToftheB · 31/12/2018 17:02

Well, I like it and I think you look good!

I would be most upset and surprised if my husband required me to keep up with the latest London fashions though!

AssassinatedBeauty · 31/12/2018 17:02

If you like it then wear it. I don't know why it's important to look "London" enough when you're out and about casually?

SleepingStandingUp · 31/12/2018 17:03

I think it's perfectly lovely for casual wear. Yes you have a lovely figure abd it's quite lose bit being slim doesn't mean you want to live in tight clothes.
What would HE dress you in?

Timeforabiscuit · 31/12/2018 17:04

I like it too... but i'm a non-london based mum, does he perhaps think the shoulders should be cut off?

dellacucina · 31/12/2018 17:05

I'm not sure what the problem is. My non-London mum picked it up for me. He said the back is the worst part but I quite like it. He sort of suggested it's just not very sophisticated?

As soon as you said tunic I was a bit worried. It's okay, but looks too big on you and not a great colour. I agree you have a lovely figure and could get something more flattering. But if it's comfortable and you like it then keep it.

I'd love to know what your husband thinks is London? Does you spend much of your time at the country estate and he thinks this would be more in keeping there? Grin

sonjadog · 31/12/2018 17:06

I don´t know if it is necessarily "mumsy" but I think it is a bit shapeless and I don´t like the back. I think it would be hard to wear as it looks like it is designed for winter, but the big open back will mean you get cold.

Bluntness100 · 31/12/2018 17:06

I'm not sure what the heck he means by London enough either. If I'm honest, it's nothing special, a bit meh and fine for round the house or a trip to the supermarket.

SoyDora · 31/12/2018 17:06

How sophisticated does he dress?

MrsBertBibby · 31/12/2018 17:07

It makes me shiver just thinking about the drafts down your back!

But then, I am 50 and no longer give a shit about what people think of my clothes. It's great.

If you like it, wear it.

HRTpatch · 31/12/2018 17:07

Its a nice casual top. But I would worry about a cold neck!!

AssassinatedBeauty · 31/12/2018 17:08

Why does your DH feel it's important for you to look sophisticated (according to his judgement) when you're being casual?

Bluntness100 · 31/12/2018 17:08

Ah, just seen your update, no it's not very sophisticated, he's right, but as said, for slouching round it's fine. The colour isn't great and nor is the fit or shape.. But if you like it that's what matters,

H1dingInSight · 31/12/2018 17:08

Surely it’s several sizes too big?

Sitranced · 31/12/2018 17:11

I'd wear it off one shoulder and probably tucked in just at the front if it's not too chunky fabric, can't really tell from the picture.

Fairylea · 31/12/2018 17:12

It’s not really a tunic to me, just a long jumper. I really like it, the back is pretty.

dellacucina · 31/12/2018 17:12

My main concern is that it's a bit big. The point of it is to be a bit slouchy. It's size small and I normally wear extra small.

My usual look is maybe a bit more form fitting and urban.

He just now said it looks very like what a mum in my home region would wear - but that maybe I don't mind that these days. Maybe I don't? Idk, I usually go for a younger look.

PUGaLUGS · 31/12/2018 17:13

I think it’s mumsy. I wouldn’t wear it and I am 53, but it’s what you like that counts.

dellacucina · 31/12/2018 17:13

It's quite long and a bit chunky, probably couldn't be tucked.

Oblomov18 · 31/12/2018 17:16

Looks totally standard, average, actually a bit boring?

ElizabethMainwaring · 31/12/2018 17:17

I don't like the colour, but like the baggy fit.
But I was born in the Black Country and live in Derby, so my opinion is probably irrelevant.

MayFayner · 31/12/2018 17:19

Is it wool? If so you could wash it at 40 and it would shrink a bit.

If not wool I don’t think I’d be mad about it really. Maybe just for chilling out at home.

dellacucina · 31/12/2018 17:20

Tried it on again, I do think that it's a bit too big for even a slouchy look. It's some synthetic fabric, which I don't love.
