Is this jumper/tunic too mumsy?

DH says it is, and not 'London' enough. I thought it would be nice for casual wear. Late 30s, am a mum!

Yes you look nice, He in contrast is probably no oil painting.

EnidButton · 01/01/2019 05:18

I don't like it personally. It's shapeless and too big for you but not in a slouchy comfy way as it doesn't look drapey enough for that.

But the not London and Mum from your home county comments are shitty for lots of reasons and even without seeing any of your other threads I can tell he's a dick.

Keep the jumper if you like it and if wearing it will remind you that you have some nice people in your life (whoever gave you it) who aren't dicks.

BusterGonad · 01/01/2019 05:51

hmmwhat get the London look. Love it! 🤣
I would wear that jumper, it's the type of item that doesn't blow your socks off but you'll wear it to death as it's so comfy and practical but still reasonably stylish. I'm not from London, I've been to London and currently live abroad!

PouchofDouglas · 01/01/2019 05:54

I find Londoners pretty scruffy tbf

SoyDora · 01/01/2019 06:20

Ivegotthree people go to work and meetings and parties in ‘the sticks’ too you know. They don’t just walk dogs.

BitOutOfPractice · 01/01/2019 06:27

It's too big for you

And that is the least of your problems.

DontFundHate · 01/01/2019 07:07

Definitely too big. I like the front but the back makes it look very cheap and casual, you can also tell just from the photo that it's synthetic

TheSheepofWallSt · 01/01/2019 07:15

For some reason, im imagining your DH likes you to be Kooples casual... is that about right?

ChessIsASport · 01/01/2019 09:14

I’ve worked in London all my adult life and I don’t think there has been a ‘London look’ since about 2007/8 ish when social media exploded. Most styles are pretty much ubiquitous now.

I think the jumper would be great for wearing to the park/play dates but it does look too big for you.

Ivegotthree · 01/01/2019 10:25

Dora I've lived in most of the places you mention, funnily enough, as well as some others, and I wore different things in, say, Valencia to Paris.

I also grew up on a farm and so think it's ok to say in the sticks without worrying what internet randoms like you might think about the term.

But thanks for your helpful insight into country living - glad you got up so early to pass it on!

AhoyDelBoy · 01/01/2019 10:26

I've seen some of your previous threads and your dh is an unpleasant dick as you well know. Why are you worried about what he thinks?

Yep^

SoyDora · 01/01/2019 10:28

Hmm my point was that you dress for what you’re doing, not for where you’re living. I’d dress smarter for a job interview or a party in the countryside than I would for walking the dog in Milan, for example. It’s up to you how you dress, I really don’t give a shit.
And I was up early because I’m in early labour, not just to respond to your post Smile.

DoingMyBest2010 · 01/01/2019 10:38

it looks too big? I do like the back though.

WhipItGood · 01/01/2019 10:43

Maybe get dressed up as a Beefeater.

darlingShelby · 01/01/2019 10:56

Lord above!
I thought men like him had started to drop off the planet!
You’re young right?
Too young to put up with stupid uneducated shit from a man!
If you like it, wear it.

BitOutOfPractice · 01/01/2019 11:51

WhoGivesADamnForAFlakeyBandit · 01/01/2019 12:35

Your DH is a complete knobhead. Wear what you like and get the fuck out of your marriage as soon as you possibly can.

Missillusioned · 01/01/2019 12:40

It's baggy and shapeless. This would be ok if it were worn for warmth around the house, but the back would make that impractical. I would try and return it.

AnotherDIYSunday · 01/01/2019 12:48

First of all, OP, you look lovely and could pull off just about any style! I also remember the thread about the au pair and your 'D'H sounds really unpleasant. You deserve so much better. Flowers

I'll be honest and say that I'm not particularly keen on the jumper. The back and synthetic fabric make it look a bit cheap. I strongly disagree with some previous posters' claim that a comfy, slouchy jumper can't look sophisticated though. Look for simplicity and high quality fabrics as above.
And to the posters who say you should be 'showing off your figure' more: I can't believe people still keep spouting that ridiculous crap. Have you ever heard anyone say that to man? Not all women always want or need to look 'sexy' (although I personally find less tight and revealing far more attractive anyways).

Your husband is being a dick, what does 'London' mean??. But since you asked, it looks a bit 'primark'. I am always confused by warm jumpers with bits cut out.

lazymare · 01/01/2019 15:17

I like it

dellacucina · 01/01/2019 15:23

Flapjackninja Grin

It's no problem to take it back. My mum understands that it's a bit big and she bought a lot that she thinks I might like with the intention of taking any back if they are unsuitable. She doesn't think at all about synthetic v. nonsynthetic fabrics though, and she might think I am being snobbish or difficult if I say this about all the other jumpers she bought for me Hmm

Oh, and DH would probably like a Kooples casual look, but not the pricetag...
