Is this jumper/tunic too mumsy?

DH says it is, and not 'London' enough. I thought it would be nice for casual wear. Late 30s, am a mum!

Your husband is right, but cheeky! Its something for slobbing round the house/having a play date. Pretty useful?

dellacucina · 31/12/2018 20:40

Yes that's what I would wear it for

You have a smoking hot figure and that jumper does not do much to show it off. It's a bit shapeless and carpetty. If it's for slobbing or being cosy than your back needs to be warm and if its for out then it could do with being a bit sleeker...

I've lived in London since I was born and I love it. A comfy jumper isn't meant to be sophisticated or form-fitting, it's meant to be cozy and lovely. If you were wearing it to a wedding or a ball I could see his point but I'd go shopping, to work and to the park in that jumper. Does he expect you dressed to the nines to go out?

SophieSellerman · 31/12/2018 21:07

What do London people wear, that those of us 250 miles away don't know about? I am all agog.

Gina2012 · 31/12/2018 21:15

DH is a bit of a dick,

I definitely got that

zeeboo · 31/12/2018 21:34

The back is pretty hideous to be fair....

TulipsInbloom1 · 31/12/2018 21:37

Your DH doesnt sound very nice going by this thread alone.

ThatsWotSheSaid · 31/12/2018 21:40

To Borrow from a MN classic phrase ‘you haven’t got a jumper problem you’ve got a DH problem’.

XingMing · 31/12/2018 21:45

It's fine and will be useful for years. Tweaked each season, you'll probably get years of everyday wear from it. But you will need to tweak it.

Flapjackninja · 31/12/2018 21:45

I have had a few drinks but I thought the photo was of the outfit on a mannequin Blush I had to Google how to spell mannequin put the vodka down

Apileofballyhoo · 31/12/2018 21:54

Looks much nicer on you than on the website. As a cosy sloppy round the house jumper it's fine at the front but for being cosy I like my back to be warm too...

Would your DM be hurt if you return it?

Ivegotthree · 31/12/2018 21:59

You have a good figure but it is most definitely mumsy I'm afraid.

Ivegotthree · 31/12/2018 22:02

I totally understand the London thing. I dress up a bit in London (where I live) as everyone is a bit smarter there.

When I go to the countryside I grew up in I'm back in fleeces.

I totally get it and think it's odd those who say they don't get it.

Tiredismymiddlename85 · 31/12/2018 22:03

I'm not a fan - I don't like the back and it's pretty shapeless. It doesn't flatter your shape. I also don't like synthetic fabrics - I'm a cotton girl!
I think he's probably right in what he's saying but used the wrong words Grin

IAmAlwaysLikeThis · 31/12/2018 22:06

People who are saying you have a good figure: you know that just cos one has a good figure doesn’t mean it has to be on show 24/7?

I have a good figure (non-stealth boast) and I wear baggy stuff all the time. I’m not duty bound to show it off all the time.

RiverTam · 31/12/2018 22:11

Ivegotthree I'm in London and I'm not smart at all, nor are loads of people I know. Maybe it's because we're a bit older (40s) and aren't that fussed what people think of us. Or maybe it's my area which is very liberal lefty hippyish almost. I know if I go to the park in my mum's London suburb all the mums look much smarter than in my neck of the woods.

SoyDora · 31/12/2018 22:12

I’ve lived in London, Paris, Madrid, Milan, Valencia, Bristol and various smaller towns/villages. Dressed the same in all of them... in clothes that I like and feel good in.

Stickmanslittleleaf · 31/12/2018 22:57

Ivegot are you saying you'd do the same thing in both places and dress differently because you're in London?

Hezz · 31/12/2018 23:04

It's not very flattering imo

Ivegotthree · 31/12/2018 23:27

No of course nor PP! If I'm in the sticks I'm walking the dog so I'm in a fleece. If I'm in London I'm going to work and meetings and parties.

And re the PP who say she is scruffy in London, In the same age but don't live where you do by the sounds of it!

And finally the point about 'you've got a good figure' meant it wasn't her I was dissing but the jumper. I've got a good figure too but today was swathed in fleeces. And tomorrow when I go back to London I will be in jeans and a jumper.

People are so keen to take offence!

HNY all!

Cambionome · 31/12/2018 23:31

I've seen some of your previous threads and your dh is an unpleasant dick as you well know. Why are you worried about what he thinks?

Ellapaella · 01/01/2019 00:07

Hope you're ok OP. You look nice in the photos, keep the top x

hmmwhatatodo · 01/01/2019 00:41
