Continued Xmas Grin

OP posts:
Rupeomatic · 21/12/2018 09:27

My favourites so far have been the first eye cream and the elasticiser, but I haven't tried everything yet. I think I would probably buy these (and I don't normally buy anything expensive except No.7 skincare!)

Pleased with today's - and am just about to try out the hair styling stuff from yesterday.

Ooh, just remembered the rose toner - also v nice.

diamondsandrose · 21/12/2018 09:39

Ooh today's is popular!

Looking forward to trying it, sounds beauty flash balm - ish

Will use tonight for my big girls night out !

JessicaJonesJacket · 21/12/2018 09:53

I've loved the perfume, the first eye cream, the Elasticiser and the rose toner. I think I'll buy a full size jar of the eye cream when the sample runs out.
I can't decide if the decolletage cream or the night cream brought me out in a rash so I'm using them separately so I can tell. The mascara was clumpy.

Vebrithien · 21/12/2018 10:13

The Percy & Reed hair product has been amazing at detangling my toddler DD knotted morning hair. It left my hair so smooth that I tried it on her in desperation, as I couldn't get a brush through it (she's been tossing and turning lots in the night with a cold). Might not be its intended use, but very happy with it!!

CarpeVitam · 21/12/2018 10:39

This is first ever Advent Calendar and I've absolutely loved the experience! As a pp said, it's like having a bargain lucky dip every day.

Obviously there have been a couple of items that I'm a bit meh about (the lip gloss for example) but I will definitely be buying it again next year! 😀

latedecember1963 · 21/12/2018 10:40

My favourites so far have been the elasticiser, the studio 10 lip balm/gloss and the ultimate sleep cream. I'm hoping for a bronzer too, Atalune, although I think my MIL may have got me one for Christmas after she saw the state of my current one recently.😁

Today's value is £15.00 which brings our tally up to £243.55.

latedecember1963 · 21/12/2018 10:43

Good to know your DD has also benefitted from the calendar, Vebrithien!

Luvacuppatea · 21/12/2018 10:45

I’ve used the 5-in-1 hair stuff from yesterday and love it! Definitely one I will repurchase. I usually towel dry my hair and then finish with a hot brush to add some body - put a bit of this on the ends of my short hair before styling yesterday afternoon and my hair has stayed soft and in shape overnight. Also some products tend to irritate my scalp, but this hasn’t 😀

MeetOnTheSIedge · 21/12/2018 10:53

I whacked on a bit of the hair stuff from yesterday before I went to bed (on dry hair). It's possibly marginally better than usual but hard to tell. I never blow dry though as I'm curly.

Just caved to curiosity and put today's balm on over my moisturiser. I suppose its hard to tell after one application but there's certainly no change in skin appearance so far. Maybe slightly mattified.

IToldYouIWasFreaky · 21/12/2018 11:07

I also used the hair stuff on dry hair last night, out of curiosity. I just ran a bit through a frizzy area and it was amazing! Tamed the frizz and brought my curl definition back without making it look or feel sticky or overloaded.

So, I am going to keep it for when my hair needs a bit of a refresh before a night out etc.

It's hard to pick a favourite product so far. I have really liked lots of things (perfume, lip gloss, rose toner, nail varnish, nail file) but nothing has stood out as amazing, and there's not much I would repurchase. I did consider the Nuxe body lotion as I really like it but it's £45 a pot!

fitflopqueen · 21/12/2018 11:14

Am going to use a couple of items as stocking fillers for adult children such as the eye pencil - should go down well with my daughter, the shower gel for her boyfriend, they are off on a city break so small sizes are great. Likely to see the rest for myself although Daughter has had todays moisturiser/primer, will find out later if she likes it as she is very particular.
Yesterdays hair product is great, I have long straight hair which is quite flyaway after drying, now looking swishy after dryer and big brush finish.

MeetOnTheSIedge · 21/12/2018 11:17

Mine is a little less frizzy over the crown (where it's relatively straight) Itoldyou but the curly lengths have not fared so well, they look as they would if I brushed it, which is another thing I don't do (fingers or wide tooth comb used sparingly). Having said all that, considering its several days since I washed it it does feel quite bouncy.

SlowNorris · 21/12/2018 11:19

Is anyone else’s primer tube half full? I held it up to the light to read the back and noticed it Xmas Confused

I love primers so very happy with today.

My favourite has been the formula sleep cream. Least favourite was the nail file. Will repurchase the sleep cream and hyaluronic gel but only if they come in tubes, I dislike the jars.

Penguins1 · 21/12/2018 11:58

I wish today's was a make up product! I am excited about the brand of today's however I don't really use this type of skin product. Good moisturisers, serums yes, I like. But what is a primer and mask in one??! I thought masks you're supposed to take off! Confused! To pp who mentioned this is like Clarins Beauty Flash, thanks for the tip. I have used that once before and it wasn't for me. I do love Clarins though.

I had to think about the definition of 'Beauty' Advent calendar earlier. I guess skincare is a major part of that but I still would love more make up pieces!

Haworthia · 21/12/2018 12:19

It’s just a moisturiser Penguins Grin The “mask, moisturiser and primer in one” is just marketing bollocks. I liked it when I put it on this morning though. Foundation went on nicely over the top, which is good enough for me!

ajandjjmum · 21/12/2018 12:25

Feel a bit silly asking this, but are all of these items available through M & S?

I wasn't excited by this calendar initially, as I expected it to be full of Magnolia bath oil etc., but some of the products are great, and from well known brands.

zucchinieggplant · 21/12/2018 13:27

ajandjj yes, all of the products are available from M&S. I really think the M&S beauty offering is excellent and probably its best department. I used to buy lots of basics from M&S but now only go for the beauty section and school uniform!

MeetOnTheSIedge · 21/12/2018 13:44

Yes, they've really upped their game with the beauty department. I buy shoes, underwear, nightwear, school uniform there, also bits of food.

Skinfulnappies46 · 21/12/2018 16:34

Looking forward to trying this. Holding out for a good hand cream still ! Passed on yesterday’s hair treat to a grateful friend so all good. Will miss Advent 😉

MrsWidgerysLodger · 21/12/2018 16:47

Loving todays offering. Favourites so far have been todays cream, the sleep cream in the black tube, th balance me eye cream and the elastisizer. Wondering if I should make the splurge for the regular full sizes.

Bluelady · 21/12/2018 17:31

My first calendar and it's definitely good value for money but I haven't been blown away by anything yet. The thing it has done for me is make me resolve to save up for Liberty next year. I've had a few of their September beauty bags and they've been wonderful.

Feawen · 21/12/2018 17:45

Bit disappointed with today’s offering - I use a moisturiser with uva and uvb protection under my foundation, and don’t want to add another layer, so if i use this it will be under makeup for evenings out. Or as (yet another) night cream.

Overall I’ve thoroughly enjoyed having the calendar, and I don’t mind that I don’t love every product, because the whole point was to try some new ones to see what works for me. I’m looking forward to the last few days.

Favourites so far are the elasticizer, which I’m definitely buying, and the sleep cream. I also particularly like the perfume, rose toner and mascara.

AtSea1979 · 21/12/2018 20:52

Very pleased with today’s offering though i’ve not tried it yet. This is my first calendar and I love it. Will definitely be getting it every year.

Tupperwarelid · 21/12/2018 21:21

My favourites so far have been the first eye cream and the pixie toner, I’d been wanting to try that for ages. My least favourite have been the perfume, I prefer a more floral, lighter smell and the nail file. I already use the sleep formula night cream so it’s nice to have a tester tube to take away with me. I’d definitely get a calendar again.

Whisky2014 · 21/12/2018 21:31

I love the perfume, the lip salve stuff, the body wash and the nail polish. I like everything else. I'll definitely buy this calendar again!
