Hi all I'm ok Thanks.. have finally been thinking about Christmas and realised I had tons to do, but with help of Trusty Lists have achieved a lot in last 2 days!...

Ive not gone back to work.. I was only in for 2 days anyway this week as had booked and cancelled leave previously , but as i have leave to carry over ive decided just to take it now.. I popped in to see my boss and pretty much all the office is out with nasty flu inc him ! Spoke to him on phone and he sounded really rough .. (I do hope i haven't picked it up just by going in there).

Red felix came, nice but not £110 nice I decided .. its gone back.. I may consider it if it goes down significantly in sale.. However the car had to have 4 new tyres today .. (£££ eek) but they were the first since it was new)

soy I still owe you an email..( xx)

Awh @SoyYo love your Christmas stories! It's lovely to reminisce at this time of year. It's our ds's first Christmas so we are very excited for all that is to come.

Great slippers @Ellapaella my dp got me some fat face slippers in the jan sales last year and they've held up well, still warm and cosy.
@NotAnActualSheep I wreck all my 'house only' shoe-wear by putting stuff in the bins. Glad it's not just me. Loved your jumper dress. I'm also a slave to my inner country/horsey lady. Too much jilly Cooper...

I've bought a couple of bits recently. A dress from fatface, not super exciting but comfy and easy to wear (can't find the proper fatface link) www.next.co.uk/style/ST342815?dclid=CKvRt8zdp98CFZcC0wodjM4CUg

And a boden dress that was perfect for a Christmas lunch with family and friends the other day m.boden.co.uk/en-gb/womens-dresses/printed-dresses/j0294-grn/womens-chatsworth-green-cosmic-flora-jersey-midi-dress

I may have accidentally just ordered the Zalando boots I've lusted after for an age... they were in the sale and there's a further 10% off today. That's my excuse

We dont put our old green fake tree up( that the kids had) any longer .. ours one of these but indoors . We have a nice set of tasteful pink baubles and little birds (plus a few old favourite ones of the kids and reminding us of the cats from years gone by ).. it doesnt go up until the weekend before christmas....

We also have quite a few feathery angels collected over the years which are suspended from the ceilings! .. and bows on the dresser. Plus Hygge candles ( which we have been doing long before it was fashionable as part of the family are Danish)

Thats it Chez Laska

Laska2Meryls · 17/12/2018 20:52

.. hat actually might not be ours.. ours has lighted branches very pretty ..

Huffthepuff · 17/12/2018 20:54

One year I put the turkey in the oven on Christmas Eve, was so stressed due to working/shopping/dcs.Dh was in Ireland visiting his ill df on the run up to Christmas, I forgot to take it out of the oven , Christmas morning it was burnt to a crisp literally smouldering nothing could be salvaged, had quite a few turkey disasters over the years, one year it fell into the twin tub washing machine I did retrieve it & stayed stum don’t think it tasted soapy.

Laska2Meryls · 17/12/2018 21:08

one year it fell into the twin tub washing machine .... Ok....we have to know how that happened>.

My parents once cooked the vegetable knife.. they had had a huge barney in the kitchen earlier blaming each other for losing it , and then found it when the turkey was carved .

so far ( crosses fingers) I cant think of any real disasters for any of my Christmas dinners

SoyYo · 17/12/2018 21:11

@melen Xmas Grin love your Xmas turkey disasters
@laska don’t worry about replying 🤗 I love your Xmas memories and that Twiggy Xmas tree is super stylish. Sorry the dress was not worth the £ at least now you know and if it’s on sale you’ll grab again 🤞
@Huff aw you’ve got THE BEST to come yet ❤️ You got the Awesome Boots!! Yeay! That calls for a Wine to toast the purchase! Xmas Wink

dontcallmelen · 17/12/2018 21:14

Laska it’s a long story not my finest moment, it was defrosting on the draining board & was having a massive row with Dh I was so cross, he was legging it out of the kitchen mid row so I picked it & went to lobb it at him & it fell into the twin tub😳

dontcallmelen · 17/12/2018 21:20

Huff your haul is very nice yy the boots are fab fab.
Laska liking the sound of chez Laska, yy the old favourites as well the angel on our tree is nearly thirty years old & some of the shiny baubles are from when I was a child.

Laska2Meryls · 17/12/2018 21:22

Xmas Grin Len Classic ! I have just snorted into my [brew!].. But did it diffuse the argument? Surely you both laughed? .. I cannot imagine actually throwing a turkey!

Huffthepuff · 17/12/2018 21:25

@SoyYo 😘 thank you! It was a bit (massively) naughty to buy the boots when I've already got the Daniel ones but I will wear them both constantly when I'm back to work.
Yes it's exciting to start traditions and see Christmas in a whole new light now we have a baby. He met Father Christmas at playgroup today and I actually shed a tear! What's happened to me?!

Laska2Meryls · 17/12/2018 21:27

... sounds like the sort of thing someone with a Latin temperament might attempt Wink not at all mentioning any possible candidates

ExH (DS father) was totally against christmas as being far too bourgeois he was a miserable effin b*gger i cant now think why I stayed with him for so long We once spent it painting a bookshop Sad

Ellapaella · 17/12/2018 21:33

@SoyYo one Christmas when I was 18 my sister went to America to stay with family for 6 months. My Mum was distraught (first Christmas without her) and was imagining all sorts of horrors (what if she met the man of her dreams and never came back etc etc). She and Dad decided to throw a party on Christmas Eve to take their minds off it. I was working in the local village pub as a waitress at the time and was working that night. As it got to nearly midnight the pub was still heaving and our landlady started playing some carols on the piano, everyone joining in singing etc etc. I'd had a couple off glasses of fizz so thought it best I call my mum and let her know I was a bit late and would be walking home shortly.
The pub was noisy but turns out my parents house was even noisier! Thus insued a long confusing phone conversation with my rather tipsy mum thinking she had a heavy breather on the phone (she couldn't hear a word I was saying). All the guests at the party then took it in turns to come to the phone and tell the heavy breather (me) what they thought of him (me) then put the phone down! Being only 18 I was quite upset hearing my parents and their friends being so rude! 😁
Anyway my parents party continued into the small hours, it was great fun. I'd never actually seen them having so much fun in years (despite having been so upset about my sister not being there for Christmas a few hours earlier).
We were all worse for wear the next day, none of us woke up until 10am and I was a bit miffed that 'Santa' forgot to put my stocking out that night!
So that's my story of what was potentially a sad Christmas actually turning out to be a great one! My sister was quite put out when we spoke to her on Christmas Day and said we'd had such a fantastic and fun Christmas Eve Grin

Laska yes we did end up laughing, it was like a Eric n Ernie sketch. I think it’s my explosive Celtic temper I very very rarely lose it but when I do I totally lose it, there are many many tales I could tell😂
Feck that’s one miserable Git.

dontcallmelen · 17/12/2018 21:40

Ella it has, along with a few other ones.
Aww that’s a lovely Christmas story, lol at you being a heavy breather.

neveradullmoment99 · 17/12/2018 22:06

Your Christmas stories are so interesting. Sadly, i cant think of any. Not that they have been perfect, i just havent hosted many. They have mostly been down at my mums and either her or my gran were the ones doing the cooking. I do have lovely memories. I feel quite sentimental now as my gran is gone and my mum needs catered for rather than her cater for us. Love the turkey throwing @melen. So funny. I had a few plates thrown at me in my teenage years by my feisty gran. i loved my gran and she lived with us be the generation gap meant we did not get along at all.

Huffthepuff · 17/12/2018 22:08

Thanks @dontcallmelen hopefully the boots will fit. Glad you were able to laugh after chucking the turkey. Me and my DP are like that. We lose it big time then are always ready to laugh again 2 minutes later 😂 Although you definitely win the prize on throwing your toys out of the pram!

dontcallmelen · 17/12/2018 22:23

never disasters or not, Christmas definitely about memories especially with those we have loved who are now gone or frail, I do sometimes think as we get older it’s a mixed bag of emotions this time of year happiness with a tinge of sadness.
Lol at your Nan throwing plates though.

neveradullmoment99 · 17/12/2018 22:28

Yes @melen. She was very feisty and a terrible temper! I was incredibly untidy as a teenager. Once she threw all my clothes in the middle of the road Shock

dontcallmelen · 17/12/2018 22:36

never oh lord she’s sounding more & more like me, I once threw dd clothes out of the bedroom window as her room was such a tip my only defence is I did warn her for weeks, that if she didn’t sort her room out I would do it, she thought I was bluffing.
