Link to previous thread.

And once again, let's keep this good-spirited. Spiteful comments are about as welcome as Fergie at Prince Philip's birthday party!

Loads of pictures of the Danish RF
There are lots of Vintage ones; Queen Margarethe when young.
I completely forgot that Queen Anne-Marie of Greece is Danish and is QM’s youngest sister.

Paradyning · 11/12/2018 21:30

Yes Curly. I think that was a young Anne-Marie stood before Queen M as a bride that someone linked a few days ago.

IPromiseIWontBeNaughty · 11/12/2018 21:40

I did not know that about Anne-Marie & Margarethe Blush

BeverlyGoldberg · 11/12/2018 21:42

@IPromiseIWontBeNaughty I think that's about as much as I can away with without being sent to the imaginary tower deleted!

CurlyWurlyTwirly · 11/12/2018 21:45

Have you heard of Deena Abdulaziz Al-Saud. She is a very high fashion Saudi Princess. Owns some fashion boutiques in the ME.
I wonder how much she can influence women’s rights in Saudia Arabia?

*behind not before!

itswinetime · 11/12/2018 21:50

@BeverlyGoldberg why are you getting sent to the tower? I feel like I have missed something

Becles · 11/12/2018 21:53

@legolammb Agree. The very nature of the posts via someone who is apparently still employed suggests a liberal sprinkling of speculation or make belief.

As I've said before, she wasn't the type to relish playing second fiddle - she would've made a marvellous queen or grand duchess of another country but of course the wars put an end to those sorts of marriages.

Queen You have said before and I have wholeheartedly agreed before. Can you imagine? Happy sigh at the thought...

Changing the subject, I'd like to see Sweden sharing the tiara love a bit more with Sofia - especially as she wears a tiara very nicely indeed.

Want2bSupermum · 11/12/2018 22:34

Not currently employed directly so no not really an issue. It's also information which has been widely circulated by the media. None of it is new. You can easily see the DM, mirror and evening standard reporting everything I've posted.

She is learning but I was really surprised by her speech yesterday saying she shared values with the designer. I can't imagine that part of her speech was written or approved by supporting staff. Yes it looked like it was a 'private' event as it wasn't a published official royal event but it wasn't ever going to be private and by now she should have known better. She did look great though!

As for the LK Bennett dress, they def need the help. Apparently the company has been struggling a bit. It would be a shame for them to disappear from the high street.

CrookedMe · 11/12/2018 22:39

What should she have known better than to say? I didn't see the speech.

IdaBWells · 11/12/2018 22:47

Meghan looked wonderful last night and I thought her hair was a very appropriate style for the sleekness of her dress and jewelry.

As for the bump, Meghan has always been very image conscious (surely part of her job) and I wonder if the bump holding is also partly that in future years there is no confusion from any photos that, yes, she was pregnant at the time it was taken and not overweight 😂 !

user1457017537 · 11/12/2018 22:53

I just read the DOS fashion awards speech online and struggled to make sense if it.

queenofarles · 11/12/2018 22:56

curly Grin you made delve into the Iranian Crown Jewels which lead me to the Russian imperial jewels and I ended my journey by looking at all the fascinating jewels of the maharajas.
No recent pics , as they are all in the Iranian central bank, there are so many , they are all huge , no shortage of emerald tiaras here!

well yes but they don't quote your easily identifiable brother and you do. I also think very little of the other staff who have leaked to the mirror/DM etc. not nice and not professional.

I think CP Mary is so stylish and pretty.

Farah Diba and the Queen and , Farah is wearing a one shoulder dress! wonder what year?

Curly, I've recently developed an interest in the Middle East, and I find it very confusing. A lot of Saudi royalty spend a lot of time in London, because whatever the rules are back home, they don't seem to follow them here. They appear to have lots of bodyguards and minders and fixers. Allegedly. Wink

It's a bit difficult to know how much influence ME royal women could have.

That reminds me. I was watching a documentary not too long ago about the leader of Syria, Bashar al-Assad. His wife, Asma, was born and raised in the UK - her parents are Syrians. A very intelligent woman. But, despite trying, I've never been able to find a photograph of their wedding which happened a few years after Bashar became the leader. Asma is almost always seen in western dress in public, so I can't see why their wedding would have been so private that there weren't at least official photographs. It would be like the palace announcing that W&K had married but no TV coverage or photos.

But, I'm going off-topic. Perhaps the off-topicness could be corralled and sent off onto another area. It seems The Royal Family area doesn't get a lot of attention, so maybe we could have a parallel thread over there?

SenecaFalls · 11/12/2018 23:36

I just read the DOS fashion awards speech online and struggled to make sense if it.

It made sense to me. In fact, I think Meghan's approach to fashion as stated in that speech exhibits a sensibility similar to what many posters on these threads have expressed.

user1457017537 · 11/12/2018 23:42

Senecafalls good for you. I found it pretentious. It’s fashion not world peace.

kooshbin · 11/12/2018 23:45

supermum - from what I understand, all Royal Protection Officers are Met police officers.

The only military I can imagine getting involved in security would be SAS who do provide security for high-profile UK people (royalty, government ministers, senior officials) when overseas, but not on a daily basis in this country.

The only other military, as far as I know, would be seconded equerries and the like. But they wouldn't be running security.

user1457017537 · 11/12/2018 23:49

Kooshbin the Royal family use helicopters for many of their journeys. Presumably the pilots are from the Services and not civilian pilots. I would think the SAS would be involved in security for the palaces and Royal Family.

SenecaFalls · 11/12/2018 23:50

Well, no it's not world peace. But fashion is art, especially high fashion and as such, deserves some serious consideration.

katekat383 · 11/12/2018 23:59

Fashion is art? That is debatable.

user1457017537 · 12/12/2018 00:00

Well, Seneca in my distant youth I went to Camberwell School of Art so I understand the concept that high fashion is Art. Like Art everyone has a personal interpretation of what they see, read and hear.
