Link to previous thread.

And once again, let's keep this good-spirited. Spiteful comments are about as welcome as Fergie at Prince Philip's birthday party!

@itswinetime
Thanks for the link; the Swedish royals have been doing us proud the last couple of evenings! I see Queen Silvia was inspired by the pink & orange combo at the Nobels last night. Each dress ( Sofia & CP Victoria) is so different, but they are all gorgeous.

CurlyWurlyTwirly · 11/12/2018 20:26

Eugenie looks like a really happy newly wed. Her leather dress looked a bit uncomfortable and I’m not keen on the navy dress with the black suede jacket.
(Jack looks like he’s had a few Casamigos tequilas!)

I saw video of today's Kate and William visit, there was carol singing so loudly throughout that they could barely hear or be heard! But they just soldiered on.

One thing that surprised me was the speed of it, Kate literally entered the room, plonked down at a table and introduced herself to the lady with the kids and immediately started in with the chat. Zoom! Barely 20 seconds had passed!

No hesitation, no wondering where to sit, no slow hand shaking around the room etc. W+K looked super efficient and in control. I realise it's experience, isn't it? And of course being briefed on what to open with in conversation. It really showed that they lead the encounters, there's a confidence there. I suppose when you think about it, for those attending it's probably their first time hosting a Royal visit and they're the ones who are a bit hesitant whereas W+K are old hands and know how to take charge of the interactions with the people waiting.

Kate looked absolutely beautiful, her makeup is to die for these days. Its definitely an extended liner but not a kitten flick, more a straight extension. And it seems brown rather than black liner though it's hard to tell. I suspect it must be gel liner, surely pencil wouldn't stay that precise? Bobbi Brown has a ton of gel liner pots in different colours, I know she's worn it in the past but who knows what she wears these days.

Letizia looking businesslike. The dress is a bit plain; but I think the length is elegant.

Want2bSupermum

Haworthia He works for the military. He doesn't work for her or PH. He works for the Queen.

Of course he does. Most people would be aware of that. He and others like him are not flunkies to be ordered about. In fact, I imagine most people in the RF treat staff well.

CurlyWurlyTwirly · 11/12/2018 20:34

Twitter has unearthed this photo of CP Mary wearing and one shouldered gown (and fabulous jewellery) whilst pregnant.
That one shouldered; simple style appears to be timeless.

Just clock the size of those diamonds! No wonder Max is smiling so much.
I definitely think the Dutch have the most spectacular diamonds. Remember the stupendous tiara Max brought over to London the other month?!

Queen Silvia's colour combo looks fab! I've not seen her in that fringe either before I don't think. CPV tends to wear that one tree most. It looks great.

The Swedes are so much more generous at sharing round their tiaras than the Brits.

BlingLoving · 11/12/2018 20:39

Hahaha, except Philip got away with it for years. Meghan hasn't done anything of the sort and it's the 21st century, yes, the royal family ave a role to play, but there's no reason that role can't evolve, including letting a perfectly intelligent capable woman have some control over her life and stop treating her like an adjunct to the man she married.

Sorry, I'll back away from this. I appreciate we're wandering far away from the point of this thread.

Clionba · 11/12/2018 20:42

Those Dutch diamonds are fantastic. I'm so glad Max gets the wear out of them. That is a serious brooch.

BigGreenOlives · 11/12/2018 20:42

I’ve just finished reading ‘The Vogue Factor’ by Kirstie Clements, the former Vogue Australia editor.

She managed to call the Danish Lord Chamberlain and produced a feature with CP Mary. They sent her Australian Vogue every month for over a year as they thought she might be homesick. It’s a lovely chapter. The book is currently on sale in a discount book shop, it was only £1. I’ll see if I can find any photos.

BlingLoving · 11/12/2018 20:46

Sorry, should clarify, I'm not talking about how she speaks to staff (my comment re Philip may have blurred that). I'm talking about stupid "protocols" that say she can't have a voice or wear red nail polish or go out without tights etc. if she is rude to people, then of course she will be blamed for that. But I don't have an opinion on that because I'ms till not convinced its true, and not, at worst, a cultural issue. We've never heard even a whisper of her being difficult while on Suits etc so I'm just not really buying it.

BigGreenOlives · 11/12/2018 20:51

Photos of the cover & 2 pages of the feature

Trying again

SenecaFalls · 11/12/2018 20:52

Someone upthread asked about how Swedish are the Swedish Royal Family. I suppose the answer to that is not very, until you get to Princess Estelle. The present king is a direct descendant of Jean-Baptiste Bernadotte and his wife Desiree Clary, both of whom were French. Their descendants in the direct line to King Carl Gustav all married women from countries other than Sweden, including two British women: Princess Margaret of Connaught, who had issue and Lady Louise Mountbatten (Prince Philip's aunt) who did not. CP Victoria married a Swede so Princess Estelle will be the first Bernadotte to have "Swedish blood."

I put that in quotation marks because surely at some point in your adopted country you can start calling yourself that country's nationality. But it is interesting, especially since the Bernadottes were essentially rather ordinary middle class French folk who got elected to the Crown of Sweden.

CurlyWurlyTwirly · 11/12/2018 20:56

Lovely photos @BigGreenOlives
I think they have done a more recent one for Vogue as well

Very surprised by the lack of discretion and relaying of private comments by staff - extremely unprofessional! And not wise in terms of being easy to identify surely, assuming it's true. Having had to sign such agreements in the past, I wouldn't dream of posting things in a public forum, or even repeating to anyone other than DP, despite having things I could add about some of the subjects of earlier discussion!

Anyway, on a lighter note, Max looks fab in those diamonds!

queenofarles · 11/12/2018 21:06

curly when it comes to the most spectacular Crown Jewels, no one can top the Iranian Crown Jewels.

bling suits was MM only big role , being difficult would have killed her career. She would have been killed off in the show or replaced by another actress ,

CurlyWurlyTwirly · 11/12/2018 21:07

Love this shot of CP Mary.
(Couldn’t tell you where it was from though; was looking for something else!)

The Danes in German Vogue in 2011. CP Mary was pregnant with the twins. Love Princess Isabella posing away!

Crumbs Supermum! Be careful what you post, there's enough detail there to be outing.

I was thinking the same Beverley
