Link to previous thread.

And once again, let's keep this good-spirited. Spiteful comments are about as welcome as Fergie at Prince Philip's birthday party!

@ahoydelboy
The Queen is not interested in a”dewy finish”
It looks like a Yardley compact and Elizabeth Arden lipstick clamped between the lips. Job done.

@queenofarles
I went to that Dior exhibition in Paris. It was amazing. (And packed)

Paradyning · 08/12/2018 06:44

Fergie looking lovely here.

🤣 Curly

QueenOfTheAndals · 08/12/2018 07:26

Women in the 40s and 50s would've still worn "foundation garments" under their clothes, wouldn't they? Hence the impossibly tiny waists.

OP posts:
AhoyDelBoy · 08/12/2018 07:29

I would think so Queen. The picture above from the Dior exhibition just doesn’t look realistic at all.

AhoyDelBoy · 08/12/2018 07:30

Although I suppose, looking at it again, it would skim the hips.

QueenOfTheAndals · 08/12/2018 07:38

HM and Princess M's gowns on
display in Kensington Palace are like that too - Diana's are Amazonian in comparison. I know they were both very petite but there has to have been some serious corseting going on to get their waists that small. Kate and Meghan would struggle to get into them and Beatrice and Eugenie would have no chance!

OP posts:
AhoyDelBoy · 08/12/2018 09:00

Well if Kate and Meghan, who are both tiny, would struggle then I’d say so!

UrsulaPandress · 08/12/2018 09:27

Isn't there a corseting scene in The Crown?

Pupsiecola · 08/12/2018 10:17

I'm going to go to the Dior exhibition at the V&A next year Smile.

I think HMQ always looked older than her years because he hair hasn't really changed from the rollers shampoo and set of around the 1960s/70s. And by 1980 it was a very dated style.

ItsNiceItsDifferentItsUnusual · 08/12/2018 10:25

Me too pupsie Smile

One of my favourite scenes from The Crown is when HM comes in with her new, shorter, haircut - which she's had ever since. Philip's face, then he asks her if she remembers that she wanted another child Grin. Rude, but I can imagine him being so...

DontCallMeCharlotte · 08/12/2018 11:19

Do we know when the new series of The Crown is starting?

QueenOfTheAndals · 08/12/2018 11:33

Not til next year and it usually drops in December so we've a long wait ahead of us!

Love Max’s boots. Her hair is looking a bit less tortured

AhoyDelBoy · 08/12/2018 12:08

I haven’t watched The Crown Blush don’t really watch TV or movies but would be interested to watch this. How many seasons are there? I’m sure I could watch them all before next December Xmas Grin

TyraAllen · 08/12/2018 12:18

There's 2 seasons so far Del and they are only 10 episodes each. It takes you up to the end of Claire Foy as HMQ, the new series will be Olivia Colman.

CurlyWurlyTwirly · 08/12/2018 12:24

@AhoyDelBoy
You’ll be able to binge watch it very easily. A couple of weekends and you’ll be done.
Maybe we should set some Royal S&G homework.
One episode of the crown a week then we come back and discuss the clothes and the storyline. Who’s in?
Bit of Revision ahead of next years series....

Paradyning · 08/12/2018 12:41

The Crown is just brilliant. You should watch it. Fantastic cinematography.

Pupsiecola · 08/12/2018 12:49

Curly what a fantastic idea! I most definitely am in!

YearOfYouRemember · 08/12/2018 12:55

Victoria was very good too, but heart breaking.

DontCallMeCharlotte · 08/12/2018 13:05

Not til next year and it usually drops in December so we've a long wait ahead of us!

So we'll have had a two year gap? Outrageous.

TipseyTorvey · 08/12/2018 13:08

I've just rewatched both series of The Crown because of these threads. There are so many things I hadn't noticed the first time because of this thread! The relationship between HM and Magaret is fascinating.

IPromiseIWontBeNaughty · 08/12/2018 13:09

I’d love to know how much of the crown is accurate & how much supposition. I binged watched each series when I’ve been unwell. Which is actually quite often Sad

QueenOfTheAndals · 08/12/2018 13:15

@TipseyTorvey I actually found their relationship more compelling than HM's and the DoE's. Vanessa Kirby was excellent and looked fabulous throughout.

Curly that would be a good telly addicts thread, thus leaving this one for style and gossip generally??
