I used to order from Party Pieces 18 years ago. Definitely a great idea.

WipsGlitter · 04/12/2018 07:14

That Richard Kay article is horseshit. The Good Housekeeping article will have been done in the summer. The timing to coincide with "the feud" is a coincidence.

beanaseireann · 04/12/2018 07:40

Sophie's shoes in her engagement photo

Clionba · 04/12/2018 07:45

Carole has looked after herself, and, like her daughters I suspect has been very disciplined with diet and exercise.
I don't like Kate's outfit in the Reese Witherspoon picture. A black crochet top and white skirt is like something my mum used to make and dress me in, back in the 70s!
I suspect the Royals have an "air" about them as pp said. Imagine coming straight out of a beauticians, hair beautifully done, clothes laid out, car takes you there and back. Lunch cooked and cleared away, no dealing with laundry, car insurance, boiler on the blink, run out of washing powder, kids need money for school trips etc etc. I think we'd all look pretty "serene"!

Discussing the negative stories on ITV now.

QueenOfTheAndals · 04/12/2018 08:03

Sophie's engagement outfit is so very 90s!

DontCallMeCharlotte · 04/12/2018 08:07

In her defence Queen it was the 90s Grin

QueenOfTheAndals · 04/12/2018 08:07

Hah true, but it epitomises the worst of that era style forgot!

Yes Queen I had teachers that used to wear that in NZ in the 80s/90s as well Shock. I guess Carole started Party Pieces before this was a common trend? There’s no shortage of stockists for this kind of thing now. Poor old Sophie in the engagement picture. Such a dated look. Why she didn’t just go for a wrap dress or something I don’t know. They look like office workers (and not particularly stylish ones). We’ll blame the 90s for this one!

QueenOfTheAndals · 04/12/2018 08:44

Sophie has upped her sartorial game since but Edward remains wedded to those double-breasted suits that do nothing for him!

Very true Queen

AhoyDelBoy · 04/12/2018 08:50

Yes Sophie looks fab now! She’s aging well I think.

AhoyDelBoy · 04/12/2018 08:52

Some of Kate’s Wimbledon looks. I always love what she wears to Wimbledon.

ElspethFlashman · 04/12/2018 08:55

I heard people were snippy about Sophie suit at the time. Not cos it was a suit, that was fine, but because (horrors!) it had a teeny sequined trim on the lapel. The press snipped that it was more suited to evening.

Seriously. And people say they're critical nowadays! You can't even see the trim! And it's quite a nice suit, for its time.

Her figure looked fab. Unfortunately she didn't think so as she lost shit loads of weight between the first fitting of the wedding dress and the wedding, and the designer couldn't keep up and on the day the dress looked too big. Because it was.

AhoyDelBoy · 04/12/2018 08:56

The many hats of Kate with a few others in the mix 🎩

QueenOfTheAndals · 04/12/2018 09:00

Yes @AhoyDelBoy her Wimbledon looks are my favourite Kate looks!

Paradyning · 04/12/2018 09:09

Her shoes are like a slightly higher version of what the Queen wears now

ajandjjmum · 04/12/2018 09:22

DS is 27 next year. I bought his birthday party themed goodies from Harrods for his 2nd birthday - it was the only place that stocked 'themes'. The next year a friend introduced me to Party Pieces, and from them on I got the 'themed' stuff from there for both DD and DS.

They say the simplest ideas are the best, and the Middletons did set up this business ahead of the curve. Good on them!

thisshitgotreal · 04/12/2018 09:34

Just been enjoying looking at some of the wedding dresses of years gone by! Sophie was very thin for her wedding wasnt she- you can definitely see why the press likened her to Diana as she did look quite a lot like her at the time.

Love the back of Zara's wedding dress - she looked so happy on her wedding day (and does most of the time to be fair!)

QueenOfTheAndals · 04/12/2018 10:28

I wasn't a fan of Sophie's wedding dress and she definitely drew the short straw when it came to tiaras! I think it was mainly the haircut that made her look like Diana, but also Jill Dando. Apparently Diana was incensed by the comparison as she considered Sophie rather plain and ordinary!

Ditto Queen casual chic I suppose. Not her Royal work wardrobe or the very casual Breton top with jeans but somewhere in between.

princessbear80 · 04/12/2018 11:04

For those of you on Facebook, the Royal Family page has a video of the Christmas decorations going up at Buckingham Palace. Gorgeous trees and garlands, with royal themed decorations!

Wow. I have missed a lot over the last few days. Sorry to pick up on topics that have sort of been and gone, but I'm not convinced that Kate has extensions. I have extraordinarily thick hair, which can be hard to manage, especially when I was younger and probably not getting the best cuts, tools etc. So my hair was heavily thinned, at my request, and I used straighteners to make it very smooth, and fairly flat (even if I left some of the natural curl).

Then DS came along. head of hair that has to be seen to be believed. Anyone who has known my family, knows it comes from my side - thick, slightly coarse, and a LOT of it. But everyone assumed it was DH. So I got very petty annoyed and told my hairdresser to stop thinning my hair!! Grin It took about a year, but my hair is now a LOT more like Kate's hair is now. If I let it get even longer and absolutely stopped all thinning, I think it would become even more similar. And if I get it blow dried, it can absolutely do the big swishy thing (I just don't like the big swishy thing. On me, or Kate!).
