So now, inspired by Laska, have been considering buying Plumberry Jam hair in the BF sales

SoyYo · 24/11/2018 20:08

Hi laska I do like the Jaeger coat and would be totally appropriate both for that occasion and just smart everyday wear, the Boucle fabric makes it smart yet not so formal or boring. I’d say try it on and if it suits your shape go for it, it’ll be one less thing to worry about.
Btw I had similar issues as you with my biological sister on my fathers side (she’s my only half sibling, product of DF’s second marriage after he and my DM split when I was very little) you’ve no idea how very nasty she was to me at my DF’s funeral. All because she and her DM were worried about me not getting a penny of my DF inheritance. Sad and pathetic people but I got through the occasion thinking about my DF. It’s a long and sad story so you have my total understanding and sympathy.
I have to say I don’t recall at all what I wore to either of my parents funeral, that’s how distraught I was in both occasions but again specially my DM was only 67 so...
Enough of all that!
Get the coat after you try it on.
Be very very kind to yourself laska, Hugs 🤗
And yes the velvet puffa is so cozy I already wore it today just to pop out to the shops for milk, 15 mins walk and had to unzip it as I was getting too warm! Grin

SoyYo · 24/11/2018 20:13

whisky absolute bargain buys! I must say I’m super impressed at the quality of the Hush LL tops 👍
Sorry holiday haven’t a clue about the top you’re after but there’s also a FB Page called buy and sell Mint Velvet and Hush clothing may be worth joining and posting your request there

SoyYo · 24/11/2018 20:18

cherries shame about the Hush fails but more Cash for you Wink
I did wonder about the Anya coat but reading your report glad I went for the velvet puffa, if it looked shapeless with your height it would have been a hilarious shape on me (and expensive waiting for refunds!)

ilovecherries · 24/11/2018 21:11

I’ve been thinking about the Bloomsbury dress. I had it in the summer and sent it back as felt it was too short for bare legs. But suspect I might look like a Xmas tree in the green, the shape is so triangular, but wondering if the navy and gold is just something for December only and won’t have a life past that.

dontcallmelen · 24/11/2018 22:07

Laska2Meryls all the coats are lovely, think you may need to try them all & see what one you feels suits you the most/comfortable.
Sorry to hear about the shenanigans with the family, makes a difficult day even more stressful, I know you will act with the utmost dignity & when you get home, have a sponge cake handy & give it a good punch.
Have been thinking about you a lot, as it was my dm birthday on Thursday she would have been seventy six, she passed away fifteen years ago & not a day goes by that I don’t think about her, even though we are supposed to be all grown up, it’s so hard when when we lose our Mums 💐

NotAnActualSheep · 24/11/2018 22:12

Oooooh, you've all been busy. Some great hauls. I love the Zara dress on soups - is that the 60s style one on the last thread? It looks amazing on you...much better than the Zara model!

Soy - glad you've decided to keep the puffa Grin. There seems to be a lot of love around that coat.

Laska2meryls (good new name...nice and accurate for the new thread!) Sorry you've had a hard day Flowers. The boucle coat is wonderful...but only you will know if it will become "tainted" as a funeral coat. But it could equally be a memory coat, I suppose, worn in memory of your stylish DM. The toast blackwatch one is indeed wow! But £££Shock£££. I think I'd be scared even to try that one on in case I ended up needing it...

cherries - totally go for the pink hair! I think that would look lovely. I have been having thoughts for ages about getting pink highlights in my mid life crisis?...my hairdresser thought I could do it with semi-permanent "paint" style dye (she knows nothing about how cack-handed I am) which I tried last weekend ( dying everything in the bathroom in the process...) but I was so wary of not overdoing it, it was so subtle as to be basically unnoticeable. But I liked knowing it was there... Grin. May try again with a bit more next time....

I like the navy Bloomsbury, and reckon it could be dressed down with jeans or something so as not to look too Christmassy? But I don't think you would look like a Christmas tree in the green one!!! unless you style it with big bauble earrings, a tinsel boa and a star tiara

DH has had a stinking hangover all day, so I've been managing all the child/ grandparental entertainment today, while he's been groaning on the sofa. Knackered now! And he's whinging that I've got a glass of fruit cider which is making him feel ill. Cheeky so and so...

dontcallmelen · 24/11/2018 22:16

Not I usually have bright pink flashes off colour put in my hair during the summer, I love it makes me happy & im waaay older than you.
Hmm liking the idea of a tinsel boa

ilovecherries · 24/11/2018 22:28

This is plumberry jam. Even in a shortish tousled style it’s a mid life crisis, isn’t it?

Hush Christmas - its a slipper-y slope and a ding dong meryl-y on high :)!
ilovecherries · 24/11/2018 22:35

Actually, mid life crisis would be good. This is serious old person crisis! I will probably get a nice blonde...

twosoups1972 · 24/11/2018 22:52

@notanactualsheep yes it was, I posted a link to the dress on last thread. Thank you for your kind comments Smile

Love the friendliness on this thread. Hope everyone’s having a good Saturday.

twosoups1972 · 24/11/2018 22:53

sheep hope your dh feels better tmw and gives you a well earned break!

neveradullmoment99 · 24/11/2018 22:54

I love that colour @cherries. No blonde. Go for the plumberry. Its lovely.

neveradullmoment99 · 24/11/2018 22:56

I think the green Bloomsbury would look great and nothing like a Christmas tree!

neveradullmoment99 · 24/11/2018 22:57

Im not so keen on the metallic print tbh. It looks too shiny.

SoyYo · 24/11/2018 22:59

Actually cherries not at all I’d say that’s more of a deep burgundy than pink? In any case I really like both pink and red/burgundy. Just do it!
On the Bloomsbury not so sure if I’m honest...looks a bit shapeless so I guess you’d size down? On the plus side it’s got a v neck which is good for our boobs Hmm

Hi to melen hope your cold is getting better and not you sound as if you really need that 🍹tonight Wink

SoyYo · 24/11/2018 23:02

And never and soup sorry posted before I saw you so now 👋👋👋

Missbobbins · 24/11/2018 23:20

@laksa - if you love the toast coat and can afford it, go for it for your mums funeral. It will be a 'funeral' coat for a bit but it will become a 'memory' coat. I bought an amazing dress for my mums funeral that I knew she would love, it took a while to wear it again afterwards but now I adore wearing it as it reminds me of her... my thoughts are still with you, it's once the dust settles the grief kicks in... I'm here if you need to pm...
awkward families just make things more difficult but it makes you stronger. Xxx

Missbobbins · 24/11/2018 23:23

@ilovecherries - GO FOR IT! you will totally ROCK that colour! 🙂 xx

Laska2Meryls · 25/11/2018 06:13

that was a very good point about the possibility of a @memory coat'. so I will hold off on the Toaast one (and forget the Jaegar which I have now decided is just way too safe!) I have ordered this Other Stories one. and got the extra 10%off.
as a newbie . Somehow I think this won't become a 'sad day' coat and to make sureI shall start wearing it straight away if its ok . They have it in a lovely grey leopard also!

cherries you Simply Must get that plum hair! fk mid life crisis

Laska2Meryls · 25/11/2018 06:24

len punching a sponge cake! You have just given me the first real laugh since all this happened .. thanks Flowers. Am so sad that you lost your Mum so early, .. mine was 93 and even though we call it a 'good age' still its hard..

I do love the Toast coat miss Bobbins and not , but I really cannot afford it ! ( or at last it to potentially become a coat I wouldnt wear gain@ I think I will step away from trying it on) when do Toast have sales? never

Laska2Meryls · 25/11/2018 06:35

my hair is bleached white anyway ( as it has weird uneven badger spots of grey, most likely due to me inflicting past damage as a trichotillomania person) .and I also need to keep it v short as I have found that this means i dont pull it anymore if its like that .
sothe pink I have used on top is this Live oneas i have my hair cut short every 4 weeks i dont worry about rebleaching and using this.. I use the Live OOA Lightener also..and Aveda daily damage conditioner .. its all seems fine (but best of all i can live with it )

CremeDeSudo · 25/11/2018 09:05

Hello Hush fans...Hush virgin here, contemplating a Tara or Tina dress in the sale.. only prob is I'm losing weight so can't try it on! Do they have sales v often? I'm struggling to resist the bargain!

dontcallmelen · 25/11/2018 09:18

Laska so glad I made you laugh, it really doesn’t matter what age they are, still your Mum it’s hard whenever it happens😘

dontcallmelen · 25/11/2018 09:20

Hi Creme I think they have a sale around Christmas, but not certain someone will be along soon who will have a better idea than me.
