That looks great Laska, and what a bargain! I love it when that happens!

Ellapaella · 29/11/2018 13:31

Ah that skirt is really nice Laska! Looks fab with the boots.

ilovecherries · 29/11/2018 13:47

Both dresses are lovely, soup, I think the second has the edge for me. You look fantastic in the first on a side view, but I’m not sure the stripe is in the best place on the front view. It’s a lovely looking fabric though and I think you could make it work if that was the one you loved.

ilovecherries · 29/11/2018 13:48

I’m in Glasgow today for a meeting. It’s bloody FREEZING.

Ellapaella · 29/11/2018 13:53

Newcastle was mild and wet this morning, now the sun has come out, the wind has picked up and it's turned very very chilly ❄️

Ellapaella · 29/11/2018 13:54

Is it windy in Glasgow cherries?

ilovecherries · 29/11/2018 14:08

Would t say so. Nothing like as bad as it was in CoDurham last night did wasblown across garden when she was trying to pee😂

ilovecherries · 29/11/2018 14:09

dog was blown. Honestly, it’s not me that types that nonsense, it’s my sodding phone that makes things up

Laska2Meryls · 29/11/2018 14:21

Ok so my Boden and Other Stories stuff are winging their way back.. not going to try again to find a suitable black dress. I have one, or i may just well wear my Black Ivy leggings and boots , as that is much more 'me' anyway than any smart black dress. . _I think I'm letting anxiety about meeting NC sister get to me , its not a riddy fashion competition--

So back to the thread
I've not commented on Soy's outfits which I though were great , love the Skinny Bailey jeans , the tiger scarf and the Rock an Roll jumper (and clutch) what did you keep? .
Huff I like the coated jeans on you,did you keep them?

Gin Zebra print joggers look really nice (but I'm overwhelmed with stripy Amies the summer sale and dyeing sessions )I have the burgundy raglan, and can confirm that it washes well/

never you look really great in the cashmere russet jumper and the leather leggings... I really don't know which you talk about having a tummy! Hair looks fab up also .. my only reservation is whether jumper would fray /ladder from the nibbles (cannot understand why they did that )

waterlily Meryl looks really good with the skirt , though quite big on you.. what size is it?

Dave and Ella , love the Tu dresses , great for the next few weeks of going out

Not you look great in the Fairisle jumper

soup I also agree the 2nd dress, its really nice on you

Just to say thanks once more for all you kind words
and to Len also , you always are so supportive

who haven't I name checked? Hi Cherries. Miss Bobbins Porpoise Utah , Raisins and anyone i have forgotten Wink

Right back to the housework. Work PC is on but I'm just checking emails .. I went back this week as I had a week off last one. I could have had more if I had wanted , but as I'm here all week on my own, its good to get out into company.. Weather if foul here stormy and boats cancelled today . Si I rang DSF and said I wasn't coming tomorrow, he was OK and I feel much better thinking that I have a few days here at home and although they will be on the phone I wont need to go and physically support them for a few days . DH is back tomorrow for weekend ..

SoyYo · 29/11/2018 14:42

Ive got a full on work day at the moment but just to tell soups that I agree with everyone’s comments on Both dresses, you’ve got a great shape and specially agree with what cherries said above re 1st dress vs 2nd dress. I do think the neat shape on both really suits your frame, and it’s food for thought for me as I never try dresses like that.

Adore the bronze skirt laska! Great buy and looks fab with both jumpers though I prefer the neater shape of the black one. I’m pleased for you that you’ll get a small break to gather your thoughts over the next few days and do agree that you should forget about the black dress altogether, you’ve got the beautiful OS coat (when the right size arrives) and that’s enough to give 2 fingers to you know who. Maybe, just maybe, it’s an opportunity to make peace with the past but at the very least you’re well prepared for whatever the day throws your way.
On my rather outrageous sale spending the only item I’m still hesitating on is the RocknRoll jumper. I love it, but how much wear out of it will I get is the question. In my roughty toughty youth it would have been a no brainier for cold winter rides but these days I don’t go on DH’s HD unless it’s over 20C and dry Grin I’ve become one of those we used to sneer at: strictly a fair weather rider. I’ll show DH and if he really loves it on me then I’ll ask him to give to me as my Xmas pressie as he’s always asking me what I want anyway.

waterlilly you look great in your Meryl and skirt, you are blessed with slimness so you can carry off the volume beautifully. Thanks for sharing.

In other beauty news I also took advantage of the Clinique black Fri offers and have restocked on my redness solutions fave makeup and got an amazing huge hydrating mask as a free gift. Wow! If you suffer like me with sensitive skin and broken capillaries I can not recommend their redness solutions range highly enough, let me know if you’re after something specific and I’ll tell you. I was first colour matched by a Clinique consultant to the foundation though and it’s super light, we’ll worth a try if you have redness, rosacea or broken veins.

I’ll stop by laters 👋

neveradullmoment99 · 29/11/2018 14:43

Thanks for positive comments. Well i kept on what i was wearing and felt great. Only thing i find is the leather leggings were squeaky but only to my ears( i hope) They were super comfy. Am on school run atm so will read back on the thread as i havent had a chanceSmile

twosoups1972 · 29/11/2018 15:21

Thank you all. I bought the second stripy dress. They had 25% discount at Phase Eight plus I had £21 on an old gift card so it didn't cost too much. I take the point about the stripes from the front, will try it on again tonight then decide.

@laska I love that outfit on you, skirt with Meryl jumper, looks lovely and elegant.

GinandGingerBeer · 29/11/2018 16:15

Afternoon all, thank you for the compliments on the raglan and zebra joggers

@Not I love the twiggy jumper, it looks like the kinda jumper you should be wearing sat next to a real fire in a cosy cottage, must watch 'The Holiday' to get me in the xmas spirit!
@never you have a gorgeous figure and look fantastic in those leather leggings
Hmmm, I wonder if that TU dress is still in stock, it's gorgeous on you @Dave and @Ella (all this time I've read your NN as EllaPella and I've just notice its paella. doh!
Glad you're feeling better @twosoups, I'm not sure on the first dress, it's the grey band that kinda cuts off your bottom half I think , second one looks great on you.
@WaterLilyThursday love the pink meryl like it with a long skirt too.
@Laska that skirt looks fantastic! What a bargain, I love it, it'll look great with all sorts of colours too. The OS coat is simply beautiful. What about a brooch? I love a brooch on a furry coat, bought one from Oliver bonas the other day, small version, it's an eye with a little pearl hanging from it.
Hope you're finding some time to look after yourself chicken, take care ThanksWine

NotAnActualSheep · 29/11/2018 17:52

Evening all!
Thanks so much for all the comments on the twiggy jumper Blush. Need to broach the subject with DH re Christmas [santa]. It is lovely, and definitely a roaring fire/mulled wine/ crisp walks in the snow kind of jumper.

never - the leggings and jumper combo is wonderful! So glad you have christened them! I'm sure no-one else heard them squeaking..it'll just be you being hyper-aware of new stuff. The rust colour really suits your skin and hair tone - soy was totally right!

Hi laska - that coat is brill - will be perfect once you get the right size. If as huff says they are calling a 36 a 10, then the 42 will be equivalent to a 16 - so it should be much better in a 38 or poss 40 if you want to have a chunky meryl jumper underneath. And bargain on the lovely skirt. I love it styled with the boots and especially the black jumper. Could that work as your outfit? - it is sober without being boring, and looks totally suitable (though not sure how sparkly the skirt is?). You've reminded me that I have a gold-coloured pleated skirt that i think I bought as a spring skirt - but actually worked well last December with a black jumper and tights/ boots. Will have to dig that out again...

The meryl styled with the long skirt looks great on waterlily too - I hadn't thought of doing that tucked in thing with long jumpers, but it really works with you. It helps that you are so slim Envy - and the outrageous oversizing looks really good. I think I needed the smaller size comparatively to look a bit neater as i felt very sack-of-spuds-y with too much material. I think it fits like it is supposed to on you! And as everyone has said, dave's Tu dress is great - as it was on ella...just right for christmas...

I think you made the right dress decision soups (or should that be twodresses? Grin) The burgundy is a great colour on you, but I think the stripey one is even more flattering (and I love stripes, they make me happy). You have NO TUMMY Envy.

I'm not enjoying today's freezing wind. The bins have been blowing around in the street all day. (I mis-corrected cherries post in my head to your DD being almost blown away in the garden - before i got to the "while doing a pee" bit - and then presumed I had got that wrong BlushGrin). Stay warm and safe folks!

NotAnActualSheep · 29/11/2018 17:56

This is me on the school run this evening... It was that, or leave DS at school cos I wasn't leaving the house, and I don't think he or his teachers would approve...

Hush Christmas - its a slipper-y slope and a ding dong meryl-y on high :)!
NotAnActualSheep · 29/11/2018 17:58

Also me, most of the rest of the day. Ninja Meryl

Evening everyone, will catch up in a bit with all your lovely purchases.
Been out all day, at dd’s & was pining for dgd my first time out in a week, my mad monsoon purchase of sequin jacket came I’m very tempted coz it’s all colourful & sparkly😳 I think I’m a magpie I’m drawn to sparkle despite not remotely needing another jacket.

SoyYo · 29/11/2018 18:13

not 😂😂😂 you definitely know how to style a Meryl Wink

dontcallmelen · 29/11/2018 18:19

Laska the coat really is beautiful & hopefully you manage to decipher the sizing you will look totally fabulous, yy maybe sticking to what you feel more ‘you’ in for the day, so glad you have a couple of days respite hopefully you can recharge your batteries, yy maybe planning a short break in the new year, a change of scenery & something to look forward may lift your spirits.

dontcallmelen · 29/11/2018 18:25

Not I’m liking the wanted criminal look😂
Never the jumper is soo lovely & you look really good.
waterlily meryl & skirt combo looks very stylish.
Two love the dresses & very good find, sometimes phase 8 have some gems.
Soy I really liked the rock n roll jumper, will be very useful when it gets really cold.

dontcallmelen · 29/11/2018 18:27

Last but not least Dave dress is lovely on you & a real bargain.
Apologies if I have left any one out, also trying to cook dinner as well as look at all the pics.

SoyYo · 29/11/2018 18:33

melen glad you love your sequin jacket 😉 and you’ve been poorly lately surely you deserve a treat!
it’s like me with the RocknRoll stuff and I know the jumper is now sold out in my size (and most other sizes) so I’m even more inclined to keep, it’ll save DH doing that I haven’t got a clue what to get her panicked look as Xmas looms Wink
I’m sure we’ll find good excuses to give our inner magpies and rock chicks a chance to enjoy wearing them Smile

Laska2Meryls · 29/11/2018 18:39

We need a photo Len so we can enable you

Soy you are only being sensible.. and as it wont be a surprise , you can ask DH for a 'little something' but suitably expensive! to open on the day also WinkGrin

Not Ninja Meryl is V. good, I have done 'Monk' Meryl and also 'Dementor' Meryl also ! ( but only when I had put it on back to front and tried twisting it around without taking it off fully) Grin

neveradullmoment99 · 29/11/2018 18:58

Oh gosh, I love the meryl on both of you @Laska and @waterlily. Its a much brighter pink than I envisaged and I can see why its sold out. It looks gorgeous. It would definitely be on my list if it wasn't that I hadn't already blown the budget. [Would look great with my leather leggings]
definitely not ordering
Thanks for the absolutely lovely comments. @Laska, I just tuck my tummy in lol...I do have one believe me. I do concealing it well.
The leather leggings do quite well in pushing it in! Love the dresses @twosoups. Think I prefer the second dress with the fine lines. @Not, despite my hush leggings and cashmere jumper, I looked a little like you in the playground except with a scarf. It was freeeezzzing.

neveradullmoment99 · 29/11/2018 19:00

Not Ninja Meryl is V. good, I have done 'Monk' Meryl and also 'Dementor' Meryl also ! ( but only when I had put it on back to front and tried twisting it around without taking it off fully)

Loving 'dementor' meryl. Please explain monk meryl!
