Goodness I nearly lost you all! Placemarking now I've caught up. I really need to be asleep!

CurlyWurlyTwirly · 12/11/2018 06:38

Kate’s Anne Boleyn headband cost a grand. I did however like the one she wore for Louis’ christening. I thought it suited her and the outfit.

I know how we all love a blog, and jewellry, so I thought The court jeweller would be interesting reading...

As well as Tiara Thursdays, we now have the Daily Diadem!

Royal style and gossip: no time to think of a snappy title!
CurlyWurlyTwirly · 12/11/2018 07:03

There’s a new film coming out about
Looks like a comedy; but I like the review

Catching up after a busy weekend and I thought I lost you all!

I love what Kate wore, she really nailed it this weekend, other than the headband. That was a bit grim.

I am beginning to feel sorry for Meghan. I totally approve of re-wears but only if they suit her (and there have been a few misses along the line) and now that she is pg she needs a seamstress to amend her clothes accordingly or wear maternity clothes which has been altered to fit her at this stage. I am a fan of her berets though!

Let’s cut her some slack, the pomp and circumstance for everything they do must be so different to everything she is used to and not being brought up here so not exposed to it from a ‘civilian’ side of things either. If we think it’s stuffy and orchestrated from a spectator perspective imagine what it’s like from the inside when you are new to it.

Checking in.

QueenOfTheAndals · 12/11/2018 07:27

Queen Anne has such a sad life. All those babies she lost. 17 pregnancies and not one child survived into adulthood. In the space of a year she had a miscarriage, lost her 2 infant daughters within days of each other, and gave birth to a stillborn son.

This was the article and they have some similar thoughtful ones on the site too: www.thedailybeast.com/what-kate-middleton-could-learn-from-meghan-markle

The thing that isn’t always obvious when we talk about ‘the press’ is that, yes there are the paparazzi (but really these days their contact with the RF is pretty limited - most celebs who want to be papped give them a heads up of when and where (even Diana did in her day!), there’s v little press ‘stalking’ these days)

By far the majority of contact the RF is with the handful of regular journos who follow them to all the public events. They all travel together on the overseas tours in a big plane (the press pay the same cost as they would if flying on a normal flight) and they are the ones responsible for most of the publicity of the causes that the RF are supporting.

I’ve read that they all adore Camilla who on every flight, pops down to their section of the plane for a quick hello, always tries to give them the photo they need and is never ever grumpy. Whereas Charles is less thoughtful but still not as actively belligerent as William is.

FATEdestiny · 12/11/2018 08:03

I was just reading yesterday's post and was almost gobsmacked at there being no new posts since 8.30pm - that can't be right I thought. Then I realised the thread had filled.

Place marking to catch up later.

QueenOfTheAndals · 12/11/2018 08:04

Yes @CaptainMorgansMistress, I was going to say that not all the press are grimy papparazzos looking to get an upskirt. There are plenty of decent reporters and photographers who follow the royals around. It's how they make their living. I can understand why William feels the way he does but he can't tar them all with the same brush. It wasn't the likes of Arthur Edwards or Rebecca English who caused Diana's car crash. Like it or not, he has to work with them and it doesn't do him any favours to be belligerent.

Interesting about Camilla Captain

Pupsiecola · 12/11/2018 08:17

Re the press, I'm reminded of Prince Charles, whilst with William and Harry, being overheard saying about how he couldn't stand Nicolas Witchell and what an awful man he is etc. If they grew up being exposed to this sort of opinion that would also have influenced them as well as what happened to Diana.

I don't really see W&K being more serious. I think they always have been. Perhaps it just shows more vs M&H/they've not done many casual events since Louis (recently there was a sporting event in a hall and Kate was laughing and joking).

ItsNiceItsDifferentItsUnusual · 12/11/2018 08:19

I'm with you Ida. I love the headdresses. I think they frame her face beautifully and if nothing else, they're different.

ElspethFlashman · 12/11/2018 08:35

Wasn't it Arthur Edwards who said recently that Harry has become much more serious since marrying? He said that for example when they went to Croke Park in Dublin Harry was offered a hurley to see how far he could hit it. He declined. But he would have done it instantly a year ago. I'll see if I can find the interview.

ElspethFlashman · 12/11/2018 08:37

Got it. Apologies for The Sun link!

BTW if anyone is on Instagram, the account @britishroyaljewels is FABULOUS. Prepare to lose half an hour scrolling back through the feed, loads of pics and history and context on each piece.

LonnyVonnyWilsonFrickett · 12/11/2018 08:42

TBF, Nicolas Witchell is an odious man with an incredibly over-inflated sense of his own importance. Yuck.

AhoyDelBoy · 12/11/2018 08:48

@ItsNiceItsDifferentItsUnusual

I'm with you Ida. I love the headdresses. I think they frame her face beautifully and if nothing else, they're different.

Agreed. It’s nice, it’s different, it’s unusual Wink

beanaseireann · 12/11/2018 08:52

I thought Kate's Roland Mouret was beautiful on her. I don't like the headband or the 10 denier black tights. I don't like updos on her either. With swishy hair like that, show it off .
So glad I found you here as I was trying to post on the old thread and couldn't.
I like MMs style.

ajandjjmum · 12/11/2018 08:53

I was struck at the service yesterday by how Meghan was clinging to Harry (as per) when they entered the Abbey. William and Kate seemed so much more mature - they both engaged the clergy in conversation, and seemed to be happily coping as individuals, with total trust between them, and no need to prop each other up. Practise I suppose! A little part of me wondered whether it was William and Kate showing Meghan and Harry how it's done! Grin

beanaseireann · 12/11/2018 08:53

Forgot to add I thought Wow what has Princess Mary done to her face - she looks totally different. Very pretty though.
Doh !!
Then I realised it was Princess Marie

AhoyDelBoy · 12/11/2018 08:53

Thanks Elspeth What a ring!

Thesearmsofmine · 12/11/2018 09:13

I love these posts, I think Kate has looked fabulous this weekend.

ElspethFlashman · 12/11/2018 09:20

I don't like the Sloane Ranger headbands but they frame her face beautifully and omg they're a million times better than those silly little satellites that were always threatening to slip forward.

They're the lesser of two evils to me.

Pupsiecola · 12/11/2018 09:44

That may be the case Lonny: I don't know him so won't comment. But PC's behaviour was awful, and unwarranted with regards a perfectly acceptable question, imo.
