Eugenie's engagement ring is similar too.

QueenOfTheAndals · 14/11/2018 10:59

CP Victoria is a bit hit and miss fashion-wise, but I like that dress. Sofia looks lovely too, and so much like Queen Silvia!

They do an awful lot of tiara events don't they? Way more than the Brits & they are really good at them - loads of jewels (seem to be loaned between all the women), hair, dresses etc. I think it's the day stuff where Victoria can be a bit random; but then I love M-M & she has made some very odd style choices. I think that's why Kate wore those awful Erdem's - the Northern Euro Royals seem to go for that sort of thing.

Laniakea · 14/11/2018 11:07

here's Victoria wearing the emeralds again - complete with brooch in her hair. I think it must be at the Nobels.

Laniakea thanks for posting that picture .

Gorgeous plaited hair and gorgeous jewels .

QueenOfTheAndals · 14/11/2018 11:40

I didn't realise William and Kate were out and about in Yorkshire today. She's [http://hrhduchesskate.blogspot.com/2018/11/first-look-william-and-kate-arrive-in.html wearing a blue coat dress]] and you can spot the engagement ring from a mile off!

She looks lovely - gorgeous coloured coat.

re the rumour about the Queen Mother's possible hidden- son- with- disabilities:
Of course no-one knows for certain, but are you sure that the old lady informant was not referring to a very well-known story, that seems to have originated in the 19th cent, that linked to Glamis Castle in Scotland, the Queen Mother's family home?
That tells of a 'monster' born and hidden away, who haunts the castle: www.smithsonianmag.com/history/the-monster-of-glamis-92015626/

CurlyWurlyTwirly · 14/11/2018 12:00

I don’t like that shade of blue, but it seems to be her go to colour.
My favourite colour on her was the cranberry / peony colour she wore to Eugenie’s wedding.

VanillaSugary · 14/11/2018 12:07

I like the blue colour!

Mr Al Fayad has donated a large amount of money to Diana's old school when it was faced with closure. It's now a school which provides enhanced learning.

LonnyVonnyWilsonFrickett · 14/11/2018 12:16

I love CP-Vic's emeralds but not fond of that tiara, it looks like a row of flowers on a kid's painting. The hair brooch though! Imagine having something like that to fling a pony tail up Grin

FlyMaybe · 14/11/2018 12:37

Sorry to lower the tone, but do you think the duchesses ever re-wear their hosiery? Can't really imagine them washing out their tights, although I'm sure Kate must have done in the past. I really wish I could afford to wear brand new ones all the time - that would be LUXURY!

QueenOfTheAndals · 14/11/2018 12:38

I think it's safe to say that no duchess ever does any of her own washing, tights or anything else!

QueenOfTheAndals · 14/11/2018 12:44

@florascotia2 I've heard that story too, but this poster said her gran definitely told her it was the Queen Mum. I guess it would've been easy to conceal a pregnancy and birth in the days before wall to wall media coverage.

Here's the story of the QM not liking sex and being the daughter of the cook but be warned, it's come from the infamous Lady Colin Campbell!

OP posts:
Spudlet · 14/11/2018 12:49

Wouldn't that be just lovely, to have someone to do the washing? The laundry is the bane of my life! I bet she must wear a new pair for public appearances at least, they'd be blind to get snagged (I always snag mine within minutes). Bloody awful for the planet, but v luxurious as well.

I like that blue, but IMO she really suits the red and jewel tones - I don't think that particular blue is quite intense enough to count as such. It does look nice, it's just that cranberry colour and emerald tones look ever better.

Haworthia · 14/11/2018 12:53

Just skimmed through that article, Queen and don’t think the bitter old Duke of Windsor should be taken at his word!

The primary source for the information, she claims, had been the Duke of Windsor – the Queen Mother’s brother-in-law.

He was involved in a bitter dispute with her during the Abdication Crisis – with the latter claiming the heir to the throne’s partner, Wallis Simpson, held sway over his judgment because of sexual techniques she learned working in a bordello in China.

Ooh, burn Grin

YearOfYouRemember · 14/11/2018 13:02

On the BBC news they are showing Marie Antoinette's jewels.

DontCallMeCharlotte · 14/11/2018 13:05

Loving CP Vic's colour cordination there. The dress! The necklace! The sash! I do have a weakness for teal though

I think the four button tiara looks ridiculous but the six button just about works.

Poor Sophia's wedding tiara is very underwhelming. It looks like something from Claire's Accessories.

BigGreenOlives · 14/11/2018 13:21

I know some duchesses do their own washing, maybe not the DofCam, DofCor or DofSus but others definitely do. Same Duchess also drives a v normal car & lives a v straight forward life.

Spudlet · 14/11/2018 13:40

Nooooo, hush. Leave me with my fantasy of somebody else dealing with the skidmarked Bing Bunny pants of the potty-training Heir to the Duchy of Spudlet (Skidmarks. It's a Bing Thing) Grin

CurlyWurlyTwirly · 14/11/2018 13:45

Max is back. I didn’t realise that bouffant tweed was a Thing!
I thought Maxima had been ill. Shame she cannot make the dinner tonight.
Just a thought; so you think each Royal Family stay at their respective country’s embassy when they go overseas, even for a private visit?

Maxima did Big Hat yesterday to greet the President of Austria.
I love her necklace made of yellow feathers!

@CurlyWurlyTwirly When Flip and La Leti stayed in London last year, they slept at the Melia Hotel in the Strand.

I believe some Monarchs use Claridges instead of the Embassy. Not sure which.
