The main reason I think the tiara story is made-up bollocks has to do with what prompted most of us to join this thread in the first place: to talk about style. The tiara was perfect for Eugenie because it is so striking and prominent with that big emerald; she did not wear a veil so the tiara was perfect. It would not have worked well with Meghan's elaborate veil and would have distracted from the simplicity of her dress. It's just not her style.

Want2bSupermum · 12/11/2018 15:21

Most of the stories published which show someone in a negative light, like the tiara story, are half truths twisted to publish something about the person that they can't actually say. The tiara story sounds to me like absolute rubbish but they are publishing it along side the assistant leaving so readers are influenced to think a certain way.

As I said before, I don't think it's a bad thing for the assistant to be leaving. They were completely out of their depth.

Now back to fashion. I love DofC shoes. I struggle with shoes so much!!!

QueenOfTheAndals · 12/11/2018 15:23

Kate's shoes have got a lot better in recent years. Thank god the days of her wearing nude LK Bennett Sledges to everything are over! Meghan wears some great shoes too and so do the York sisters. They may often not get it right but at least they experiment!

I actually really liked those wedges! It was a refreshing change from the usual court shoes worn by the RF. Also appropriate for her age and stage in life. I think she dresses too severely these days and looks too old, but her station in life is very different now.

QueenOfTheAndals · 12/11/2018 15:31

No, the Sledges weren't wedges, they were a court shoe.

Indeed I know the York sisters have made some mistakes over the years but it's always fun when they are attending events as you don't know what to expect

QueenOfTheAndals · 12/11/2018 15:39

And their outfits are memorable - who can remember what Sophie Wessex wore to the Cambridge wedding? But we can all remember Beatrice's hat!

Loving these threads. I ended up down a gomiblog rabbit hole about meghan last night. Golly, they're not terribly fond of her there but quite amusing. They seem to speculate that she is tipping of the press a lot eg the Doria story.

I am not a fan of Meghan's style but I prefer the more polished style of Kate. Doubt Meghan will lose any sleep over my opinion though. I do however very much envy her Diana's aquamarine ring.

Puzzledandpissedoff · 12/11/2018 15:47

I can't believe I've only just found these threads - and only now because this one was in "Active"!!

Anyway, huge thanks to the PP who mentioned the Instagram Royal Jewels page. I've spent more time than I should on that and can't express what I'd give for an hour or so among that lot Grin

@AhoyDelBoy belated response but excellent KnK reference Grin

Do you think we'll get to see much of the frocks n rocks at PC birthday bash this week, or will it be an entirely private affair. European Royals are coming it seems, inc Mary.

itswinetime · 12/11/2018 16:07

It's a private party but I'm hoping we will get some arrival shots and then a few official photos after the even I don't think we will get much more than that

SenecaFalls · 12/11/2018 16:10

I've never understood the objection to Kate's nude shoes. Not an issue that she has (I don't think), but I have large, long, narrow feet. In some shoes, you see my feet first, everything else second, so I like the nudes.

Having said that, I just ordered some red ones for the holidays. We'll see . . .

VanillaSugary · 12/11/2018 16:11

Meghan is so stupid if she's tipping off the press. Does she not know what happened to her MIL?

Paradyning · 12/11/2018 16:16

Is Charles' party a tiara event?? Bloody hope so!

QueenOfTheAndals · 12/11/2018 16:18

Are birthday parties usually tiara events? I thought they were saved for occasions like state banquets?

The birthday of the heir to the throne sounds tiara worthy to me! Then again if I had access to those jewels doing the weekly shop would probably be s tiara worthy event! Crown

Pupsiecola · 12/11/2018 16:19

I do hope that their marriage lasts because imo PH deserves to be happy and settled. But jeez, their dating days (of which there were apparently few) are going to be a world away from their married life, and that's without kids. Lots of strains coming their way, and they probably haven't got the solid foundation many have. They will be incredibly lucky to stay the course. I hope they do. W&K are lobsters though.

itswinetime · 12/11/2018 16:20

His 60th birthday was not a tiara event so I think we are out of luck there!

Spudlet · 12/11/2018 16:30

Megan's daft if she is tipping the press off - that's a dodgy game to play. Surely anyone would have more sense than that?! Madness!

Everything has happened so fast for them - they aren't going to have the same strains as many couples but even so, going from dating to parents in what, a couple of years? That's a lot to handle. I hope it pulls them together, not apart.

Puzzledandpissedoff · 12/11/2018 16:41

Spudlet I'd imagine the family circumstances on both sides are a lot to handle too. If it all went wrong with W&K she's got a very solid family to support her, but apart from her mum there doesn't seem much for Meghan

Like everyone else I hope they have a long and happy marriage; admittedly I've got my doubts, but hope to be proved wrong

YearOfYouRemember · 12/11/2018 16:48

I'm part way through watching the program on Prince Charles and I loved the part where The Princess Royal was laughing and it appeared that Charles had crept up behind her and made her jump. I also got a bit teary when he was abroad and spoke in their language and I saw how happy they were. I struggle with hearing about the Princes's Trust need more therapy but there's no doubt he's achieved a lot and was ahead of time with the environmental issues.

Paradyning · 12/11/2018 16:53

The Scandinavian birthday's tend to be. Just wishful thinking on my part then.

Spudlet · 12/11/2018 16:54

Vanilla Yes, that's potentially a lot to handle. I think it will depend on whether they see it as a challenge to meet together as a team, or separately as individuals.

On the other hand, they'll have plenty of paid help, and they'll never have to worry about affording things like tyres for the car, warm new coats for their dc or preschool fees, and if their child needs anything like speech therapy they won't be waiting for months for appointments, and there's a lot to be said for that particular pressure being removed. Although perhaps you'd have to have experienced that pressure to really appreciate it being taken away?

Pupsiecola · 12/11/2018 16:58

Not to mention moving overseas. That can be a strain too. I think Meghan could at any point think "I've had enough of this" if things get too tough for too long. She may pine after her old life. But let's hope not. Let's hope they live a long and happy life, together.
