In fact on a couple of occasions Kate's family have gone to Anmer at Christmas and the Cambridge's have gone back and forth, presumably an improvement on just leaving George in the nursery

Even though they were literally on the estate, the Middletons didn't even go and have cocktails and would not have any expectations of an invite.

Very early in the York divorce when the girls were still in primary school, Fergie is said to have sat alone in a cottage on the estate waiting for Andrew to have an opportunity to bring the girls on short visits, which makes the bending over backwards for Meghan seem very odd. It's either a case of lessons learned or Harry is a favourite with HMQ or both at any rate it's unusual enough to be quite remarkable

QueenOfTheAndals · 12/11/2018 14:10

But do we know Doria has been invited for sure, or is it just something "a source" has revealed?

I'm sure the press has pictures of DofC 'smiling' as well as the others there. The press are about to really go after DofS.

My brother said that DofS was a PITA when she first came into the RF. In America it's quite normal in certain circles for people to treat those working for them badly. She has since changed her ways so I don't think it's fair to continue to bash her for a mistake made at the start or before she met PH.

My brother told me she was so rude to him at the start. He was covering security for the invinctus games and he said she needed to stand in a specific spot while others were coming and going. She told him not to tell her what to do and that he needs to remember who he works for. My brother told her that he works for the Queen and it's his job, as well as the other staff working for the RF to tell them what to do, so if you wouldn't mind, please stand there so I can make sure you are safe should someone want to attack you.

She also called the Us press when she flew into Chicago for her UK immigration paperwork to be filed. No one knew. She was booked completely privately. My brother happened to be relatively close by because he lives in Toronto now, so got their quickly to provide full security. She had gone over with only one person and a single marshal on the plane.

She is much nicer to him now!

PawneeParksDept · 12/11/2018 14:12

It's all been "source" Queen I have a feeling it will turn out untrue, because it's such a change in protocol it makes no sense.

Installing her at Anmer seems far more likely.

PennyMordauntsLadyBrain · 12/11/2018 14:20

Supermum, that’s very juicy!

I’d just be careful- those are the types of specific details the DM and the like would be all over...

Batteriesallgone · 12/11/2018 14:22

Yeah I was thinking it’s a very specific disclosure of facts. Wouldn’t be hard for the RF to identify who it is who’s sister is posting about the DoS on MN, if they so wished. And DoC is a MNer you know WinkGrin

Want2bSupermum · 12/11/2018 14:23

DofC fitness routine is mainly her eating. My brother said she eats a lot but it's all lean protein, fruit and veg. Very little bread, rice, cheese etc. She doesn't snack and just doesn't eat big portions of ice cream, cake, chocolate. She doesn't drink lots, my brother has never seen her tipsy let alone drunk.

My brother is always having a go at me for my eating habits. He loves weight watchers and pushed me to join. I did and it's basically the diet he tells me I should follow.

She does exercise, not as much as anyone would believe. It's normal stuff of toning and cardio. Nothing too fancy. She is an excellent runner.

ajandjjmum · 12/11/2018 14:25

Supermum
Careful - your brother might not be too happy with you revealing all of this inside info - nomatter how interesting we might find it!

Want2bSupermum · 12/11/2018 14:26

penny they have already published it. There is other stuff but if the DM hasn't already published it I'm not going to share it!!!

SenecaFalls · 12/11/2018 14:30

We had some Americans at my university and they had to undertake an obligatory British culture course

I went to university in the UK. I learned the cultural differences by observation and by letting myself be absorbed into the culture. I think Meghan is well on her way to that approach as well.

I have to say that people were very understanding. Of course I was there because I appreciate the culture, and as a student of British history, I was perhaps already clued in on some of it. But all of the nuances that you can only pick up by day to day living do put you on a learning curve, to be sure.

CurlyWurlyTwirly · 12/11/2018 14:33

Thanks for the inside scoop @want2besupermum

Verrrry interesting.
Why on earth would Meghan tip off the press that she had gone to get her immigration papers filed? It is such a non story.
It’s indicating that she really does love the media attention.

Good job the offices of William and Harry have been separated, they are going to have diametrically opposite views towards the press...

owlshooting · 12/11/2018 14:36

Didn't your brother sign a non disclosure contract? I have a relative who has worked in proximity to a member of the RF and the non disclosure contracts are very strict. I am lapping up the details though!

owlshooting · 12/11/2018 14:39

What you say chimes with the sort of disgruntled responses we are already getting from the 'Palace' about how she doesn't listen to her security team and Harry over rides them if they conflict with what she wants. I imagine it's a nightmare trying to protect or advise her. It's all very well being a humanitarian in name , but if you are rude to your staff , it's a bit of a non starter. Charity starts at home and all that.

PennyMordauntsLadyBrain · 12/11/2018 14:41

Well, that’s put me right off her anyway.

Remember that old adage about taking note of how people treat others who they believe to be below them? Says it all really.

gingercat02 · 12/11/2018 14:42

Wow lots of anti Meghan posts suddenly. No one knows why or if her Mum has been invited for Christmas. If she HM obviously feels it is appropriate and acceptable. Camilla and Kate were both smiling (and Camilla had a small laugh) on the balcony at the Cenataph, neither of them have been lambasted for it.
Some of us like our DH, we hold hands lots still even though we've been married forever
Give the woman a break!

TheCraicDealer · 12/11/2018 14:48

Harks back to the comments in "the tiara article" about her clashing with DoC previously about how she deals with the staff.

I don’t find that terribly surprising. Hmm

Indeed it does. Treating people in that way is cringeworthy.

Want2bSupermum · 12/11/2018 14:54

owl You can share things already in the press. As an example, DofC and her exercise routine, I'm never going to share anything specific she hasn't already shared with the public. Her eating, you can easily see the menus from previous events to see what she eats. Everything I've shared is already published.

My personal thought is that MM had no idea what she was getting into. I think their relationship is going to take an awful lot of work to make it a happy one over the long run because they come from very different cultures and she had no clue what is expected from her. It's easy to look at the glamour but it is hard work being a working royal. They make it look great but honestly who wants to go spend a day at an opening of a sewer works!

She has changed a lot and what was going on before she married isn't going on now. I think the press intrusion helped her see sense. It also helps that she is pregnant because the newspapers would look terrible if they went after a pregnant lady. I think the RF have been very smart so far with having DofS attend events before they married. It was good training for her.

We all make mistakes. I think it's unfair of the press to punish her now for mistakes made when she didn't know better. People can and do change. The American press is tame compared to the British press. I just hope she can develop a thick enough skin (well she needs the hide of 10 elephants!) to survive the upcoming onslaught.

itswinetime · 12/11/2018 14:56

Hopefully someone is correcting
Meghan and showing her the way things are done! If she is determined to court the press she will need to be careful as maybe she starting to see there is a nasty side to the attention.

She isn't alone in not listening/following advice from staff remember when Charles and camillia got caught up in the protests in London years ago. Lot of blame placed with the security detail not forward planning ect when it was actually Charles who demanded they take that route so he could see what was going on. Maybe their joint defiant streak is why Meghan and Charles seem to have bonded so well

SilentIsla · 12/11/2018 14:56

Re. the now infamous emerald tiara, it seems to be the very tiara which was loaned to Eugenie by her grandmother, the Queen. Presumably, Eugenie was in line for first choice. How embarrassing that the D of S thought she should be allowed to wear it.

QueenOfTheAndals · 12/11/2018 14:57

The tiara article sounded like made-up bollocks tbh.

OP posts:
SilentIsla · 12/11/2018 15:02

I did comment, actually, but it may not have been on this thread ( possibly on another forum) about feeling that Camilla’s laugh-comment, on the balcony, in the direction of the Queen was unfortunate also.
Kate, however, appeared to be smiling down affectionately in relation to the Queen.

itswinetime · 12/11/2018 15:08

I still don't see the emerald tiara story as that bad. If it is even true very questionable I think.

I completely get Eug getting first pick but I think the fault lies with whoever sent the list over in the first place why include something Meghan couldn't wear. She isn't psychic how could she know what Eugenie was wearing especially when even seasoned royal reporters were sure she would wear the York tiara up until the day.
