Gin really sorry you are struggling, it’s pants when you get more health news worries, I find just setting really small goals help even if it’s only getting half dressed it’s an improvement on not getting dressed at all, also having small treats a new book/magazine etc also allowing myself to have a bit of a wallow no one can be relentlessly ok about dealing with tough stuff in life, yy the winter definitely doesn’t help I find the lack of light & greyness really difficult some days, sort of matches my mood, it’s much easier to be cheerful & cope in sunny weather💐

dontcallmelen · 13/11/2018 16:25

twosoups buy it & you will look & feel fabulous 😃

NotAnActualSheep · 13/11/2018 16:26

cherries Definitely keep the teddy coat. It looks lovely on you (not rotund at all!), and the colour is nice too. I did something with tin foil, baking powder and salt to clean a silver-plated necklace once. It wasn't as fine as hush jewellery, but it may be worth a go if just polishing hasn't done anything...

I'm with soy on sizing down with the leggings. That kind of thing always confuses me - but it sounds a bit like they are too big on the bum and waist, and are slipping down as they warm up and expand. If they were too small, it would probably happen straight away, and they'd probably sort of roll down at the waist rather than go baggy??

Sorry to hear you are feeling a bit down soy and gin. Flowers and Cake to you both. I confess I'm pretty pants at motivating myself to work at home (which is unfortunate, as I'm effectively self employed!) and i do miss the company of other people since I've not been going into an office. Doesn't help that I just always feel really tired at this time of year too, and have been having some late nights with deadlines recently ...I'm living on coffee, which probably doesn't help. (not helpful, I know..)

Those leggings are another good find laska! Excellent for under one of your many Meryls, I reckon Grin.

On the boots, twosoups - I think if you really can't find anything you like as much, and will get loads of wear out of them and you won't be living on beans for the next month it is worth splashing out. Footwear is something it is worth paying a bit more for, I think - and those won't date and are lovely. But yes Shock money.... The coat is lovely too, but if it were me I would go for the boots instead if its one or the other. or buy both and ask for the coat for Christmas from a friendly relative, then magically whip it out and say "ah, lucky you, you don't have to go to the shops..."

NotAnActualSheep · 13/11/2018 16:27

And Flowers for everyone, for being so lovely!

ilovecherries · 13/11/2018 16:45

Aw, Gin, that’s crap.

SoyYo · 13/11/2018 16:46

Waiting for my boss to call me (I always get late afternoon calls and even later evening conference calls).
Totally agree with you not and soup if you ❤️ the Whistles keep it.
I’m hesitating because I’m motivated by mehness as I’m not usually a puffa coat lover AND I bought a leopard fur coat from Boden just a month ago which to date has only been worn once! Shock
But don’t take my hesitation to mean you shouldn’t keep it, it honestly looks fabulous (and useful) online 👌

dontcallmelen · 13/11/2018 16:48

Soy my dd volunteers at a adult literacy scheme, which is in the evenings, when I’m well enough I do some stuff at a drop in for The homeless/vulnerable which has sessions at the weekend.
Local forums/library are usually good sources of information for finding out what might be available locally.

SoyYo · 13/11/2018 16:50

Thanks melen never thought about the library as a possible source. I think I’ll feel a lot better if I could help someone out not just with a charity donation (I do have a few on monthly standing orders) but with my physical time and presence...

ilovecherries · 13/11/2018 16:51

twosoups, have we seen a picture of the whistles jacket?

I love these threads. I think it’s been about 15 months now since the first one. I can’t stand nastiness and sniping, it really upsets me, it’s so unnecessary. It’s just so nice here.

SoyYo · 13/11/2018 16:54

And what I mean by not being a puffa coat lover is on me Soy as I loved them on laska and ella. So not on principle (I wish my shape would suit them) but on me as the wearer Wink

dontcallmelen · 13/11/2018 16:55

Yy Cherries I always think if you can’t say something nice then stfu 😃 can’t abide nastiness & sniping no need for it, life is difficult enough.

SoyYo · 13/11/2018 16:59

GinandGingerBeer · 13/11/2018 17:03

Thank you all so much. I have been doing a bit of on line retail therapy to cheer myself up but now I cba to take it back Blush( next coated skinnies x 3 and HM dress)
@Soy you have every right to feel meh too so don't be hard on yourself Thanks

ilovecherries · 13/11/2018 17:08

Oh yes, I tried it on in store, it’s lovely. Just misunderstood, thought twosoups had already bought it and wanted enabled to keep it :D

Huffthepuff · 13/11/2018 17:10

Oh that jacket is lovely. I'd be tempted if green did anything for me but it's not my colour. Definitely keep it @twosoups1972 😃 absolutely gorgeous and looks super snuggly. Smart yet cosy

ilovecherries · 13/11/2018 17:12

I know what you mean, len re work. My early retirement was forced on me really, I just wasn’t able to cope with work after my accident. Originally I thought redundancy/retirement was the perfect answer. That lasted about 6 weeks. Staring freelance was meant to give me the flexibility to work when I wanted, but the reality is that things are scheduled months ahead. I just amn’t sure I’m ready to stop.

Alwaysasparklymoment99 · 13/11/2018 17:16

Sorry to hear you are feeling so rubbish @soyo. What can I say? I am up and down all the time.
Ginger I was signed off work with stress a number of years ago. I felt soooo guilty but you should definitely not feel that way. You need time to get better - mentally and physically. Take your time and take off as long as you need.
Cherries, the next leggings and the coats look great on you. Whats wrong with looking like a teddy? Very cuddly!!!
As for me, a whole day at work if you can call it that. Took my class to the cinema this morning!!! Most of the afternoon was spent talking about it so win win!!!

Alwaysasparklymoment99 · 13/11/2018 17:18

Hope everyone is feeling better soon Flowers
I have no idea how long I have been on this thread. It feels like years. It is such a lovely supportive thread.

twosoups1972 · 13/11/2018 17:21

Here’s a (sorry not very good picture):

Here are the Hushistas - counting down for a Very Meryl-y festive season
dontcallmelen · 13/11/2018 17:22

Yy Cherries that’s what is so difficult, it’s knowing in your own mind when you are ready & when you can envisage doing/planning other things with your time, it’s a tough decision to make.

dontcallmelen · 13/11/2018 17:23

two looks very comfy, colour suits you👍🏼

ilovecherries · 13/11/2018 17:32

I think it will be a lovely jacket for crisp winter days. I’m loving my monsoon one.

SoyYo · 13/11/2018 18:13

soup I love it! That green forest colour is so on trend too (and it would suit my colouring/trying not to enable myself). You must keep, Will be super super cozy

always a cinema day with small people however chaotic sounds lovely 😊

cherries I’m just ready to move on if only I had that financial cushion! I’m different in that I would try and get part time work in Spain, once there, as long as surviving doesn’t depend on it I know I’m bound to find something fun to earn a few Euro and keep myself busy. Being bilingual and having a ton of family nearby helps a lot too of course.
I’m just tired of the corporate world and politics and would want a complete and radical change from the type of work I’ve been doing to date, that’s all. I may just do it before I’m sixty too having come off the phone with my poor boss who is just totally overwhelmed poor guy, I could easily do the next level job (his grade) but I’m too cynical now and have no interest anymore in climbing up the greasy pole Hmm, for now I’m his counsellor and sympathetic ear (I’ve known him for years, used to be same level colleagues). The stress they put on people is unbelievable...in my last role I had a team of 12 scattered all over Europe and when I look back on the constant travelling, the wall of contention I became between my previous (bully boy) boss and my team I think I’m so much better off now and nothing that a bit more social interaction won’t fix nicely...
Listening to him just now has given me a healthy and much needed perspective

twosoups1972 · 13/11/2018 18:17

Thank you all, I am keeping it! I'm never sure which colours suit me, I have dark hair and pale skin (is that winter??) but I like the colour on me.

Ellapaella · 13/11/2018 18:19

@twosoups1972 looks lovely. Is it a keeper?

Boden have very 'kindly' sent me a £10 gift voucher and I have a 20% off code. Trying to decide between a nice price of knitwear for me or a Christmas jumper for ds3. Also like the red sparkly Breton. Very Christmassy.. decisions decisions....
