No it definitely doesn't make you look like a teddy bear. I have a very similar one and I appreciate they may be an acquired taste but I love it on you - it's very 'on trend'. And they are very very cosy coats.
I think you should keep. I like the Next faux leather leggings, they look great.

dontcallmelen · 13/11/2018 12:29

I really like the cuddle coat, suits you.

Ellapaella · 13/11/2018 12:32

Actually @ilovecherries I think they maybe the trainers I've ordered! What's the sizing like?

ilovecherries · 13/11/2018 12:41

These ones? I’m wearing my usual size 7 (eu40). I can either wear either decent ribbed socks or a thin trainer sock and my orthotic with them, so pretty true to size - more so than the fabric Skechers which I always find big. Very comfy but annoyingly squeaky. But I feel I’m being tormented by squeaky shoes just now. I have a pair of Adidas gazelles that I can hardly stand to walk about in, and a pair of Fly Chelsea boots that irritate the hell out of me. These aren’t as bad as either of these - the gazelles are the worst - but are by no means silent!

I’ve been meaning to ask - has anyone had any success cleaning the chain of the double star necklace? There is about an 8 inch length of the chain on mine - presumably the bit that actually touches your neck - that has gone really grey and discoloured. The rest looks fine, so I’m guessing it’s oil, make up, perfume etc. I’ve given it a rub with a silver cloth, but it hasn’t done much. Any ideas?

SoyYo · 13/11/2018 13:53

cherries I love you in your teddy coat! Sorry can’t offer advice on cleaning necklace.

So I’ve caught up with thread now and can only agree with everyone’s comments re leggings and to say I’ve also ordered the MV coated leggings after seeing ella looking marvellous in them and to console myself for not ordering always beautiful leather version yet

I have a pair of leather blue jeans from Baukjen cherries really great quality...see this is why I’m holding off in the Hush ones but I don’t own leather leggings! Envy

So I’m feeling a bit down atm and the reason I haven’t posted. No reason other than getting cabin fever, travel has been stopped due to budget squeeze at year end and I’m not used to having 3 weeks in a row homeworking. I’m feeling very meh.
I did enjoy wearing my RocknRoll T to Seasick Steve concert last Friday though.

The Hush shirt and Emmanuelle dress (with gold bits) arrived. The dress is going back, 12 is perfect size except for annoying small gap where boobs sit (I always have this problem with button down fitted styles) and tbh I don’t think it looks that great on me to warrant sewing a clip thingy to fix gap. I think the style is too “young” for me (told you I was down on myself).
The shirt is okay but not sure either so I’m ordering other candidates and then I’ll try them all on with the sequin skirt and decide if I keep one (or any) at all...

I really liked the Whistles green velvet puffa linked upthread and tempted. Was it you cherries that saw it in RL? Do you think S would be too tiny with our boobs?

I’ve enjoyed catching up and reading you all and I also got those bamboo stripy socks x 2 pairs as gifts in the post (as well as tons and tons of catalogues from every brand imaginable)

ilovecherries · 13/11/2018 14:27

Sorry you’re feeling bleurgh, soy. To be honest, I worry about retirement. DH is planning to go in May-August when current project finishes and I have always said I will stop at the same time - and have in fact been winding my commitments down over the last year in preparation. But actually, I’m not sure I’m ready. I moan about being on the road, but get very antsy if I have 3-4 weeks at home. But I can’t wind down much more, it will just fade away if I’m not out there hustling.

Anyway, that was a self indulgent moan from me :D

Re whistles parka - a medium was fine on me - snug over the chest but nothorrifically so, so I think a small would be fine for you.

ilovecherries · 13/11/2018 14:33

Oh, and practical qu. If the coated leggings slide down and leave baggy bit under my bum and round my groin, are they likely to be too small or too large? I skipped the 14 in them this year, and went straight from 16 to 12. I feel I need to ease them on, but then as soon as they warm up, they are sliding downwards and I’m always having to hitch them back up. Does this mean I should be in a 14 or a 10, do you think? Tried 10 in store, and I thought they were too tight, but don’t think current size is right.

SoyYo · 13/11/2018 14:41

Thanks cherries I may give that coat a go.
My DH is definitely stopping by the end of this tax year. My work office base is in Surrey so not really a practical commute just to see people and I’m missing RL company atm...the annoying thing for me is I’m ready for the next stage in my life which means moving to our town house in Spain but I’m too young to retire yet. There’s a fabulous redundancy package right now as the company is relocating UK headquarters but it’s only available to office based people which is making me even more despondent as I’d have taken it without hesitation as a small push like that is all I’d need to take the plunge.
As it is I feel I’m just going nowhere fast and although I could ask to be relocated to Paris I’m not into a change that major for just another 3 years.
So I think that’s contributing to my “mehness” right now. I want to move on but financially I need a small cushion till retirement age. First world problem I know and I do realise I’m very lucky to be able to contemplate retirement at all by the time I reach 60...
Anyhow onwards and upwards!
There’s always fashion Wink

SoyYo · 13/11/2018 14:47

On the next coated leggings cherries maybe you should try a 10 if the 12 are sliding down? Or maybe is just the Next style that doesn’t suit your shape Hmm
Why don’t you try the bargainous MV in a M? I’ve ordered both M and L thinking one of them will be right and with 15% off and free returns you can’t go wrong.
I expect I’ll end up keeping the L as MV tend to come up small in a 12 and knowing Ella is a size 10 and seemed to fit the M like a glove
not enabling just thinking out loud Grin

dontcallmelen · 13/11/2018 14:55

Soy sorry you feeling a bit meh, it’s difficult sort of wanting to get on with the next chapter in your life, but not quite in a place where that is feasible or feel ready for that next huge change, but life I suppose is always full of ebbs & flows but it’s not always easy making the adjustments.💐

dontcallmelen · 13/11/2018 15:11

Even though neither of you have asked for advice😃 my twopenny worth would be, don’t give work unless you are as sure as you can possibly be, I had to give up work due to my illness.
I tried desperately for two years to hold on, tried different hours blah blah but nothing worked, I still regret it & part of me is still grieving for the life that I had, I still get a bit angry as i wasn’t ready either emotionally or financially, so only do it when you good & ready.

Laska3Meryl · 13/11/2018 15:13

Just popped into M&S to collect some stuff I bought for Christmas and got by these texture leggings. They are not well described but are a coated leather look. Really nice not shiny. Quite cool looking I reckon

Hello, just checking in today, love the leather look leggings Smile

@SoyYo I originally tried the M in the Whistles green velvet puffer but it was too big and looked bulky on me. I am around a size 12 with 34E boobs. I re-ordered the S which is a better fit on me.

Now - whether to keep or not, help me decide! I do really like it and it's lovely and cosy but I'm not sure how practical a coat it is. Don't know what it will be like in the rain?

My dds tell me I have too many coats/jackets! I might list on Ebay a short burgundy puffer from Fat Face that I've had a few years. Again, it's warm but a bit short and doesn't have a hood. If I sell that I can justify the Whistles one right? Grin

Secondly - boots. I stupidly went into Russell and Bromley today and tried on the lovely boots I linked to above. They are indeed lovely and fitted me perfectly. But....£315?? And they said they wouldn't be going int the sale as they're new.

SoyYo · 13/11/2018 15:26

Thanks melen it’s annoying but I’m overthinking it and I’m always plunged into mild despondency when the weather turns cold, even after 38 years here I do struggle with British winters. Couple that with lack of travel/seeing people/being stuck homeworking for too long and I get positively grumpy! 🤣
C’est la vie. I’m very grateful for all the good things in my life too, don’t take it for granted at all.
I’d love to help a charity but they mostly require help during normal working hours and that’s just impossible for me.
If any of you have ideas for evening volunteering ad hoc do let me know.
Did you know it’s World Kindness Day today? I’d like to thank all of you kind, clever ladies for the fashion company and sage advice and laughs over the last year since I joined this thread. There’s never any clickiness in this rare MN space, we can disappear and reappear at our hearts content and always feel welcome. Long may it continue! Flowers

SoyYo · 13/11/2018 15:29

Ooh laska they look good online can we see you in them in RL please?

twosoups1972 · 13/11/2018 15:29

Hear hear SoyYo lovely thread Smile

SoyYo · 13/11/2018 15:32

soup the Whistles in S sounds hopeful, I’m a 34FF so may just squeeze in...if it’s not too tight in your 34E chest?
And btw you can never have too many coats Grin can you post a pic?
Re R&B boots depends how much you luvvs them...may be worth hanging on for an online discount voucher?

twosoups1972 · 13/11/2018 15:35

SoyYo John Lewis currently have both the S and M in stock online, you could get both to try..?

SoyYo · 13/11/2018 15:43

soup thanks! May just do that Wink
Disclaimer: Soy definetely doesn’t need any more coats but it may cheer her up to try yet another one Grin

dontcallmelen · 13/11/2018 15:58

Laska yy the M&S leggings they look really good, I have a pair of the dark denim ones & they are really good.

hendricksy · 13/11/2018 16:01

I got my mint velvet leggings . They are fab ! Thanks

GinandGingerBeer · 13/11/2018 16:01

I too am rather meh at the moment so sending you all kindness day hugs 🤗
I've been signed off work, never been signed off work (bar for an operation) and I feel terribly guilty but I had some bad news re a complication due to my Type 1 diabetes and it's completely knocked me for six.
Any tips Re making myself get out of the house or getting dressed welcome. I have zero energy.
This time of year doesn't help does it? I hate the dark evenings.

Those leggings look good laska, how's your mum?

SoyYo · 13/11/2018 16:11

Bless you Gin 🤗 right back at you! Here I am moaning about nought and you and melen with genuine and serious health concerns.
Right I’m having a stern talk to myself as honestly? I do not need any more coats or have the space for any more...that Whistles keeps calling me for no other reason than mehness...
gin I’m mostly in harems and Amies these days as I don’t see a soul during the day but I do put a bit of mascara on and keep my hair looking nice/freshly washed as it cheers me up if on top of isolation my mirror reflection doesn’t shout dishevelled harpy on top! Loose yourself in a good book or movie (I have work to do so can’t indulge during the day other than my odd contributions to this thread) and may I just suggest one fashion purchase: Slippers!!! As in furry, warm indulgent ones. I got the Hush ones and not some bargainous JL one (last thread). Almost worth being housebound to envelop your toes in their cozy ness Grin
Hope up get well soon Flowers

twosoups1972 · 13/11/2018 16:19

Please could someone enable me to keep the Whistles puffer? Grin
