Here we go again!

And by popular demand, here are the previous threads:

Special edition: Eugenie wedding thread

Harry and Meghan have 2 days more in NZ before they head back to London and, if I was her, I'd put on pyjamas, get Netflix fired up, and not leave my bed for several days! William and Kate will be out for a sporty engagement in Essex tomorrow and I'm sure we'll start to see them more as she's now officially back from maternity leave..

No idea what the continental royals are up to but New My Royals (does that title even make sense?) is my go-to link for them!

She's thinking "I get all the shit jobs "

I've seen a photo of the Basildon trio as it came up on my Instagram. William looks OK, but his trousers are about an inch too short. Has he grown or something?

BlingLoving · 30/10/2018 18:15

Speaking as someone with a lot way too many siblings and siblings in law, I think I can confidently say that the only time there'll be competition and resentment between kate and meghan is when it's engineered. So, hearing that Meghan and Harry have done brilliantly on their first tour will be a cause of celebration and pleasure for Katherine/ William. But every time someone writes that Meghan's ability to make speeches makes her a better/ more interesting/ more intelligent duchess than Kate, I could easily imagine Kate getting upset and ranting to herself that Meghan is a trained actress and is not going to be queen one day etc etc.

It's one thing to acknowledge they are different with different strengths, which I assume they themselves will be doing. Totally another to compare them negatively to each other. One of my (many) SIL is gorgeous and very fit. I think it's brilliant and when she competes and does well I am very proud. But just ONE comment from a member of my family about how it's a pity I'm not like her has me wanting to rip her apart and point out that she works part time, has her parents close by to help with the kids, lives in an idyllic little village and has no money worries. Plus she was clever enough to have her kids young! And it's not fair because she wouldn't dream of comparing herself to me (she's honestly too nice for words).

Not keen on KM's look - a bit severe IMO.

I have been liking the NZ PM's look though....

Queen, The Daily Mail said it first.

The DM stealing from munsnet say it is so that could never happen surely Hmm

Why is the red dress a miss is it just because of the tag?? And what about the stunning white one? Not impressed DM I give that summary a F Grin

QueenOfTheAndals · 30/10/2018 19:19

I liked the green dress to, going to hunt down something in Meghan Green, I think!

Ooh the thread has moved fast!

Just catching up. I love Kate but I think the overall look was a bit too severe today. The Daily Mail comments are full of people pearl clutching about her sitting with her legs open during a game at the centre - I can't decide if I agree with them or not! I think she has a lovely figure, but I can't work out if she's looking slimmer than usual or if it's those jeans that are accentuating it.

I also see the Daily Mail are comparing Meghan and Kate with a side by side of their blazer looks [MM when she arrived on the tour I think? the white shirt and blazer look].

William isn't looking great is he, bless him? I know he is a dad but he's demonstrating some solid dad dressing there.

BettyBooJustDoinTheDoo · 30/10/2018 19:29

I think Kate looks amazing today, her figure is fabulous, love the skinny jeans on her.

beanaseireann · 30/10/2018 19:29

My, how William has changed since the engagement picture!
Kate looks more or less the same , 3 children later Shock

Checking into the new thread

TSSDNCOP · 30/10/2018 19:52

She was sitting like that to play Boccia Hmm she’d have toppled forward trying to lob something with her legs crossed.

WipsGlitter · 30/10/2018 19:54

If I was that slim I'd always wear skinny jeans!! Instead I have parsnip legs.

7salmonswimming · 30/10/2018 20:10

I’m not a royalist , but KM dressing the way she did today is so completely not regal not even mentioning the camel toe. She’s a Queen in waiting. The whole point of the monarchy is that they be separate. Not Everyman. Jewels and expensive clothes alone don’t do that (see any number of Hollywood stars or minted celebrities). It’s being exactly not like you and me, putting duty to your subjects (🙄) before everything else. Including your appearance. Abstention from the vanities and frailties of everyday life - which frankly shouldn’t be that difficult given they don’t live normal, everyday lives. How else can they morally justify their existence?

KM’s hair can be found on the head of any woman who can afford the extensions and the upkeep, her figure on any woman with the time and money for a trainer (and there are loads) etc etc. There is literally nothing special about her, certainly nothing Queen-like. Just put it away! It’s all so bloody obvious and commonplace, it’s almost as though they’re her identifying features. HM, Charles, Edward, Sophie: there’s no fanfare or bling or Look At Me unless required for the higher purpose. Anne: there’s never any!

It’s an unglamorous, tedious, unending burden to be a dutiful royal at all times, the type that garners respect. I would think that’s why Anne didn’t want her children going down that path (not any sense of humility or whatever). Flaunting the upsides of the position is distasteful and distracts from/undermines any actual effort. The glamour show on these engagements is lacking an understanding of the bigger picture, imo.

Still, this is S&B. Happy to look at the frocks while they last and if I’m right it won’t be too much longer

SenecaFalls · 30/10/2018 20:12

Love P. Anne at the sewer. That is true class there, folks.

SilentIsla · 30/10/2018 20:20

It’s not Katherine.

CoachBombay · 30/10/2018 20:29

I personally don't see any point comparing or contrasting K and M. They really are chalk and cheese. One a glamorous, previously outspoken and opinionated Hollywood starlet now a Duchess. The other a upper middle class, wealthy woman, who dated a prince quite young, learnt the rules and regulations and is a queen in waiting.

Both have their absolute merits, both have different figures well because quite frankly they are completely different people!

I do have a preference for K, mainly because I prefer her tailored style and I personally find her quietly confident. She can stand still and quiet but still command a presence, she seems very confident in her own right and I like that.

M, well so far her and H are still in that honeymoon stage, finding their feet, and all loved up. I find it cute. It's nice to see how happy M makes H and I do applaud her for that. M is an intelligent woman, and not the simple fawning doe everyone seems to think she is. She knows her own strength and I'm sure when challenged can be quite forthright about it. I don't like M's style as much as K. I find it more laid back and more American but that's no surprise it's where she was born and raised.

Anyhoo, I am looking forward to seeing K and W more now.

SilentIsla · 30/10/2018 20:33

William looks fine, incidentally. Not sure about the zip up jumper but overall he is perfectly acceptable. I like him better than his brother. He has gravitas.

QueenOfTheAndals · 30/10/2018 20:58

Letizia is ready for business in Geneva. I do love a cosy wrap coat!

Pupsiecola · 30/10/2018 21:33

I agree she looks lovely and very relaxed. I think she must be relieved that her pgs are done with. I had HG and was hospitalised at 10 weeks with first DS. I had it both times. I couldn't imagine going through it a third.
