never the Sabrina long cardigan looks luscious as does the Meryl that laska ordered
I imagine the cozyness and I will stop this “researching” now as I’m seeing too many lovely things, including that warehouse cocoon coat 🤨
Those M&S boots are hideous btw...

SoyYo · 26/10/2018 17:33

I have to go and “prepare” for my curly cut tomorrow i kid you not
The stylist is being very specific:
Come with hair dry but washed only with curly girl friendly conditioner, rinse, then reapply conditioner and don’t rinse it 😱 no gel or other styling products.
Oh the things we do for beauty!

neveradullmoment99 · 26/10/2018 17:46

What????????????? she has high expectations. Hope she gives you a discount and does a good job!!!!

SoyYo · 26/10/2018 18:21

It’s a “he” and I understand why: he’s qualified in the Deva curly cut method developed by curly guru Lorraine Massey. I do follow the curly girl method: no sulfate shampoo, no silicones, or drying alcohols in your conditioning products. There’s a logic/theory behind it but he’s been a bit overzealous with his instructions Wink I’m bothering because they do cut hair dry and curl by curl which does make a huge difference to how it looks and grows out.
I only go every 4 months so it means very low maintenance the rest of the time.

dontcallmelen · 26/10/2018 18:21

Bossy Caah, hope she is as good as she thinks she is Soy like the style of the warehouse coat but really wanted a down filled one, had a very similar one from monsoon a few years ago which was lovely had a shawl collar as well, they have one in this year but it’s way thinner & not as ‘puffy’ iykwim
Just had a look at lands end, they have a nice one (faux fur hooded & lined down coat #502772)
Zara have a few but returns are faff with them, so probably better to go in store.

dontcallmelen · 26/10/2018 18:22

Oops x posted, ahh well sounds like it’s worth it then.

SoyYo · 26/10/2018 18:26

Anyway it’s done now, I’m just a whingeing git but I am kind of neurotic about my hair (most natural curlies are due to enduring years in childhood looking like something the cat dragged through the fence, crazy frizz from hell) but if you follow the method and have a good curly hairdresser to trim you are rewarded with glossy spiral curls on a good day, let’s not talk about the bad hair days

SoyYo · 26/10/2018 18:29

Ok len I think your best bet is to go to the shops (and do try Uniglo as they specialise in down filled coats).
I now can’t get that warehouse cocoon out of my curly head! Wink

dontcallmelen · 26/10/2018 18:35

Yes I think a trip to shops is needed, my Ds has curly hair & it’s a whole different ball game taking care of it & keeping it looking good.

ilovecherries · 26/10/2018 18:36

This is the one I had last year, in dark grey. It was the perfect warm (but not waterproof) coat, except for the fact the fabric was wrecked within a few weeks.

ilovecherries · 26/10/2018 18:36

Oh, I give up, fugly link, sorry. I think it works though.

neveradullmoment99 · 26/10/2018 18:41

Website is block cherries! Uniqlo are good though.

ilovecherries · 26/10/2018 18:47

That’s odd, link works for me. This one

Calling all Husheetas..you can never have too many coats..Winter 18
SoyYo · 26/10/2018 18:55

Yes the link worked on my iPhone cherries that’s the one midlife chic blogger recommended as the “luxury” option from Uniglo

ilovecherries · 26/10/2018 18:58

Yes, it is a lovely coat. It’s just that th3 fabric is quite fragile, which might be the price you pay for a non-shiny coat. Didn’t matter so much this year when it didn’t fit me anyway, but going forward Id like more than one season out of a coat. I still occasionally wear a gorgeous jacket I bought in 1988. Blush

dontcallmelen · 26/10/2018 19:00

I looked at that one Soy from your link, but I was thinking it might be a bit to long on me, Crikey I’m sounding so picky about such a boring item of clothing.

dontcallmelen · 26/10/2018 19:02

@Ellapaella was it you that got some jeans from M&S that you really liked recently? I was trying to find the link but can’t locate it, if so could you repost when you have a minute ta.

ilovecherries · 26/10/2018 19:04

The uniqlo one also has a short version Len, which is mid thigh on me at 5’7

SoyYo · 26/10/2018 19:10

Not at all len you know what you want in your head and should stick to your vision till you find “the one”. Do also pop into JL, Selfridges, etc I’m sure feeling in RL is the way to go and you’ve the huge advantage of London in your doorstep.
Did I tell you our new thread name is bang on the zeitgeist? The following post from another great fashion blogger came in my FB newsfeed today, some beautiful coats and silk blouses here:
thatsnotmyage.com/style-inspiration/checking-out-autumn-coats-gentlewoman-style/

SoyYo · 26/10/2018 19:27

Ooh now I’ve dried my hair with a diffuser and conditioner left in it looks pretty amazing actually, very hydrated and defined curls with hardly any frizz...note to self: don’t be so quick to judge and always try something new Smile

dontcallmelen · 26/10/2018 19:29

cherries thanks I didn’t realise they came in different lengths.
Soy I think that’s what I need to do, it’s only one short train ride for me daft really not making the effort.
Yy you get something in your head, my monsoon coat from a few years ago was perfect, it was a dark mushroom colour with a really thick/puffy shawl collar & little fitted on the waist so didn’t make you look a Michelin man, as I said they have one very similar this season buts it’s nowhere near as good, I was so disappointed when I saw in store the other day.

SoyYo · 26/10/2018 19:41

Indeed! But I’m glad I was on the kind of right track with the style of the warehouse one which sounds similar (but not as fabulously warm) as your old Monsoon fave.

Ellapaella · 26/10/2018 20:25

@dontcallmelen I did recommend some M & S jeans on another thread, here is link https://www.marksandspencer.com/sculpt-and-lift-mid-rise-skinny-leg-jeans/p/p60136199?prevPage=plp&source=affwindow&extid=afaUncategorised78888Skimlinks&comgp=78888&cvosrc=affiliate.aw.78888&awc=14021540581818dc97a89d65eec42591381693111532f8

Having my curry with a glass of wine and catching up on the thread. You've all been busy!

Hey ella meant to say thanks for recommending the Killing Eve tv series it was brilliant! But episode 8 left us with a bit of a cliffhanger...I guess ready for next series?

Enjoy the weekend everyone! I’m off for my curl cut very early as it’s quite a drive and then on to Brighton to see our “baby DS2”. Catch up with you all sometime over the weekend
