Its also 41% wool so not sure i could wear it near my neck like that.

hendricksy · 25/10/2018 12:40

Hush in blue water was quite disappointing , there wasn't any dresses to try really but I got a lovely dress anyways ..
I sized down and it's very flattering. I'll wear with black tights and boots and all saints leather jacket .

Beautiful dress @Hendrick. I love the print.

dontcallmelen · 25/10/2018 12:48

Lovely dress Hendrick
I’m the same with wool, makes me scratch myself red raw.
Soy I cannot do a capsule wardrobe either, wish I could sounds so grown up & organised unfortunately I am neither.

neveradullmoment99 · 25/10/2018 12:53

A capsule wardrobe isn't me either. I am not that personality type. I am emotional about clothes and fairly impulsive and i like it that way.

hendricksy · 25/10/2018 12:57

Thanks ... it's very me .. you can't see it that well in the pic but it's fitted on the top and loose at the bottom and a lovely stat print . On the upside John Lewis in blue water have some lovely clothes and concessions !

Huffthepuff · 25/10/2018 12:59

Thanks @Ellapaella I should totally go for a dupe when Hush are charging that price. I've gone right off H&M recently though as their sizing is so erratic and I don't have a store near me and rely on the website. When I had one nearby they were my go-to shop.

So I think I quite want the Cassie dress, not the modal one that looks so good on Never but the shorter, charcoal one. I have a feeling it will work better on my shape at that length and I like the higher, round neckline. From the reviews I'd be tempted to size down to an xs but that's out of stock 😞 What are the chances of more stock becoming available do you think? Or is it gone when it's gone? The alternative is to try the Small or get the XS in the green. I never buy green though, just not drawn to it. What I'm after is a smart casual dress that I can wear for a cosy pub lunch on Sundays. I wore my Emmanuel last time we went out but it felt quite formal and more suited to my work wardrobe.

Ellapaella · 25/10/2018 13:03

@neveradullmoment99 wool also makes my eyes itch.. must be an allergy, anything with mohair in is a complete no no as that's the worst for me.

@hendricksy that dress is gorgeous! Quite tempted myself, I'll se how I get on with my Hush Cassie dress when it arrives and if I'm not sure I may order that one instead.

Ahhh – thank you all Blush Flowers! Right – I’m keeping it and am hoping people don’t point and laugh when I wear it outside. It is nice, and I think a bit unusual. Blooming creased already though...I really must get more acquainted with the iron.

@dontcallmelen – those are really great ideas for styling it – thanks. I’ve just tried it on again (work can wait) with a variety of blazers/ cardis/ biker jackets and they work well, and really change the look.

@ilovecherries – it is a bit long, definitely if not worn with heels. In the picture I’ve got a ~3inch heel, which is just about OK (I’m 5’6), but that is on the upper end of what I would wear for work, and I love the look with trainers as on the model. You can hoist it up a bit with flats because of the tie waist thing, but I think it looks better not hoisted, so I’ll probably take it to our friendly local alterations place to shorten (who I think we must be keeping in business recently…).

And lol at the displacement of family members with coats and shoes (especially @SoyYo’s DH in the corner of the wardrobe)! Sometimes I think that would be a perfectly reasonable response to DH saying “not another pair of shoes???”… (he has 2 pairs of shoes and can’t understand the need for more than that. His mental flowchart goes “am I wearing a dinner jacket? – if yes, smart shoes, if no, normal shoes”…Ah, the simplicity of his life).

I would also definitely not manage a capsule wardrobe. I'm a) not organised enough and b) too easily tempted by random things in beautiful fabrics or colours that don't go with anything else, but make me Happy Grin.

dontcallmelen · 25/10/2018 13:26

never I’m the same very impulsive Not glad you are keeping it you could also wear it with some snazzy thick soled trainers & long cardigan, yy being attracted by beautiful fabric & colours I have so much stuff that doesn’t actually go with anything I already have.

hendricksy · 25/10/2018 13:28

Get the 8 @Ellapaella if you do ! I have a John Lewis home 5 mins from my house so I can easily do click and collect and returns .

SoyYo · 25/10/2018 13:30

Yes if I follow the Kondo rule of
does it spark joy?
I’ll never get rid of anything as despite buying lots I only keep things I really love...but how many sequins and evening clothes does a girl need when I only dress up very occasionally?
Glad you’re keeping the jumpsuit not honestly it looks great and I’m sure your pic has enabled a few people now Wink

SoyYo · 25/10/2018 13:34

Oh yes huff keep checking the Hush website around 8.30 am for the dress as you may be able to bag a return assuming you can actually be arsed to check daily and don’t mind purchasing a return
You could try the S otherwise and return if no good...good luck with the hunt!

SoyYo · 25/10/2018 13:37

I’m actually considering signing up for a Xmas evening dinner/dance at work just to give my amazing sequins an outing (or the velvet or the ball gowns I had a thing in the past of purchasing evening dress up clothes for a single event, no more!)
The fact I’m not remotely interested in spending the evening with people I work with is besides the point Wink

SoyYo · 25/10/2018 13:41

I don’t want to come across as nasty re work colleagues but I do actually have to have a lot of work/business type dinners when I travel which is fine...the Xmas dinner/dance is with colleagues and partners and I’ve done a few in the past but not feeling it this year other than the excuse to give my evening gear an outing and I think that is very shallow of me...

Inforthelonghaul · 25/10/2018 13:42

Not just popping up to say I love that jumpsuit on you and the fact that it’s nice and long is a definite plus for me. I think I may have to order for a look now. I would love to order a jumper or two as well but the prices are extortionate now so I’ll wait till they start coming up on eBay.

Inforthelonghaul · 25/10/2018 13:44

I bought the dark blue bf jeans on Brand Alley too but am a little disappointed that they seem to be quite wide at the waist compared to my lighter ones. I’m going to try and shrink them in a hot tumble dryer as suggested by a PP.

Ellapaella · 25/10/2018 13:55

@SoyYo I know exactly what you mean about Christmas parties..
I love my immediate little team and enjoy socialising with them but making polite conversation with the wider department in a forced atmosphere is not my idea of a fun night out. I hate dinners with industry/drug reps too for the same reason.
That sounds really miserable and I don't mean it to be nasty - I can make conversation with anyone but I'd rather be at home in my pyjamas with a glass of wine!

OP posts:
dontcallmelen · 25/10/2018 13:56

Soy I will join you in being shallow then, I was tempted to go on Dh’s Christmas thingy, just so I could get some sequin stuff an outing, I’m like a magpie I love sparkling stuff & can so relate to buying clothes for a one off event.

SoyYo · 25/10/2018 14:07

Yes ella exactly how I am these days, it’s a huge event so not at all cozy or conducive to chatting as the live band is always too loud and it tends to be pot luck who I will sit next to, plus the forced cheeriness... I much prefer the smaller business dinners with the people I work with closely.
melen I think we should do as fashionistas and start wearing our sequins in daytime paired with a a slouchy jumper

SoyYo · 25/10/2018 14:08

Problem is the colleagues I work closely to are not UK based...

Huffthepuff · 25/10/2018 14:14

Thanks @SoyYo good advice! Although I've just realised how much I've bought this month will need to have a little shopping break (at least for a few weeks)

SoyYo · 25/10/2018 14:18

Actually that’s where Hush also has an edge, in that some of their clothes transition so easily from daywear to evening wear.
I bought their lace blue/black skirt last winter and it’s great to wear in daytime and dresses up equally well for evening dos with jewellery, strappy top and kitten heels. I’ve worn this far more than a lot of those single big occasion skirts and dresses taking up far too much space in my squashed wardrobe. DH owns a single DJ suit (YSL) and he looks so dashing when he wears it. Blokes have it worked out Hmm

dontcallmelen · 25/10/2018 14:20

Soy 😂

NotAnActualSheep · 25/10/2018 14:46

Oh no @inforthelonghaul... I don't want to be responsible for any enabling myself! Blush Wink.

Tbh, I'm not sure I know anyone who enjoys the big work "do's" (though that could just be the kind of people I hang around with). Regardless of how well you get on with people you work with, it always seems a bit forced to spend the evening with them too! So treating it an excuse to get dressed up is the best approach, I think.

Actually, I admit I quite like having to go to meetings and so on where I need to look smartish, as I work by myself so much of the time. I fall into the standard trap of wearing jeans/ joggers/ pyjamas at home (and then panicking when I have a short-notice Skype conference and bunging on an emergency jacket that's permanently on the back of my chair). I like being able to see what all the fashionable young things are wearing, as I feel quite out of touch some of the time. But that is "daytime work" me. "Evening work" me is generally wishing that I was at home (and trying not to drink too much again to compensate for the awkwardness).
