could imagine Kate in this!

AhoyDelBoy · 29/10/2018 11:39

I think CP Mary ‘wore it better’
I agree the others aren’t as polished looking!

QueenOfTheAndals · 29/10/2018 11:43

CP Mary is definitely the most stylish out of the European royals and manages to look polished and occasion-appropriate but never boring.

Actually, maybe she and Letizia tie for first place in the style list!

I'm sure William is shitting himself; he could end up being King quite young.

Not that young really. He is fast approaching middle age as it is.

LimpyLampy · 29/10/2018 12:15

I’m surprised they didn’t try to stop the book. Whilst I believe about the strained relationships and the entitlement of the members of the family and so forth, I’m hesitant to believe the anecdotes. E.g. Surely Megan’s secretary (or Harry’s) received an extensive list of dos and don’ts and situations like whether or not to wear a hat is firmly instructed?

C&C have a living arrangement I would love myself!!! I can imagine many people would find it the dream arrangement.

What strikes me a lot from reading the extract linked, is how completely the RF believe they are ‘doing good for the plebs’ type of thing. I honestly presumed their role was to rock up to public events in an effort for higher sales of tickets to high and lower profile charity events. The articles suggest they genuinely believe they are practically saving people.

Spudlet · 29/10/2018 12:20

The Megan hat debacle is really petty but also, assuming it's gospel, pretty toxic too. I mean, here is a woman who is newly navigating a rarified section of a totally foreign culture, who is given a coded message and left to interpret it, and who is then the subject of malicious gossip because she got it wrong. I wouldn't have necessarily got the message that a green hat was expected - in fact I think I'd have taken to mean I should avoid a green hat, in case we clashed! It's either incompetence from whoever is supposed to advising Megan, or deliberate undermining, IMO.

itswinetime · 29/10/2018 12:31

The hat thing doesn't seem to be gospel as here is Catherine, Camellia, Sophie and Anne all hatless in the presence of a hat wearing queen!

But yes I agree as a new royal on a first outing if some said to me the queen will be wearing green I would take that to mean don't wear the same you would think they would have someone helping her how can anyone be expected to know all the rules!

But the Queen pretty much always wears a hat now, doesn't she?

Was the hat thing in the PC book? I just don't get who an anecdote like that is supposed to serve - it doesn't make me like MM any less, it makes me mad that the palace are being obstructive and setting her up for a fail.

Moononthehill28 · 29/10/2018 13:03

I must say, I read the recent biography of Charles and he does not come out at ALL well in it. Spoilt, petulant , out of touch and selfish.
If he had any sense he would have kept his counsel at the moment. Opinion has recently been more positive about him following the wedding. He’s blown it now.

QueenOfTheAndals · 29/10/2018 13:11

I doubt HM herself was much bothered by the hat thing but honestly, "the Queen is wearing a green hat" is so vague! The first thing that would occur to me if I was told that would be not wear green!

QueenOfTheAndals · 29/10/2018 13:12

@Moononthehill28 The bio that features in the Mail this week?

LimpyLampy · 29/10/2018 13:21

I would think the same or do not wear a green hat! However I imagine there are royal protocol books handed out to be studied —consumed— but for first royal engagements, surely Megan would literally have been INSPECTED before meeting with the Queen.

Spudlet · 29/10/2018 13:30

Well exactly Lampy, it's not as though she'll have been digging through her wardrobe for something to wear that morning. If a green hat was so important then there would have been many opportunities to say so, directly and clearly, without all this passive, indirect tosh. Just say what you mean, ffs.

It just looks bad, either way: that it was allowed to happen (if it was) and that it's been allowed out into the public arena. Or that someone chose to outright invent or at least embellish the story.

Toxic as fuck.

itswinetime · 29/10/2018 13:32

She shouldn't need to be inspected for the first year or so I would expect someone who knows the ins and outs with her guiding her on the dos and don'ts when to wear a hat being a small part of that. Otherwise it's just setting her up to fail! For what it's worth the queen didn't look the least bit offended so it's probably all bull shit! But it makes the royal family look petty childish and a bit like bullies! Not the look they are going for I'm sure!

LonnyVonnyWilsonFrickett · 29/10/2018 14:06

Totally winetime - let's bully the new girl because she doesn't know what to wear for PE.

VanillaSugary · 29/10/2018 14:07

I'm sitting at home with a cold, miserable as f, and the book is Lon Loose Women +1. So here is the run down:

PH gazumped PC to host the R4 Today programme
PW stole some limelight and shaved his hair off on the very day that H&M did one of their first official visits together

CurlyWurlyTwirly · 29/10/2018 14:25

As well as why would they even publish the book; why publish it whilst the royal tour is going on...
Is there not enough to fill the pages of the DM?

QueenOfTheAndals · 29/10/2018 14:46

If Charles hadn't wanted it serialised in the Mail then I'm sure his PR team could've done something about it.

Not only is he coming across as jealous of his sons, but it makes it look like he's trying to drive them apart too, with that story about Williams new haircut.

Moononthehill28 · 29/10/2018 14:54

Queen no the one that was published about a year ago. I sent mine to the charity shop when I finished it so can’t eemwmber the title!

Moononthehill28 · 29/10/2018 14:57

Remember

itswinetime · 29/10/2018 15:03

Indeed Queen he seems to be doing whatever he can to make his sons and their wives look bad (particular William) which I can only think is jealousy on his part! And it shows a whole new level of pettiness within the family if true a haircut to one up your brother! Next it will be they only had Louis to distract from Meghan and Harry's wedding 🙄.

YearOfYouRemember · 29/10/2018 15:07

I haven't caught up yet so apologies if already posted-

Japanese princess news

UrsulaPandress · 29/10/2018 15:14

Re Meghan and her constant touching of her bump - maybe she is self-conscious. I know I would be in her shoes. Her shape has changed so much it must be quite a shock to the system, and with the eyes of the world and MN S&B on her.

SilentIsla · 29/10/2018 15:22

The Japanese princess is adorable.

SilentIsla · 29/10/2018 15:30

What about PH letting slip about his wife’s pregnancy on the day of Princess Eugenie’s wedding?
