Just catching up... I like the olive colour of the Invictus dress, similar shade to what she wore for Louis baptism, but I didn't like the style at all. The berry dress is a big hit for me, love the style and the colour. The suffrage reception dress is stunning! Her public speaking is excellent and a breath of fresh air compared to the staid Cambridges.

IPromiseIWontBeNaughty · 28/10/2018 08:03

I don’t think William or Kate like public speaking, they do it because it’s part of their role in life. I think that they are both naturally shy people in reality. I’m the same I loathe speaking in public. I find it excruciating. Perhaps they are like me.

NigellasGuest · 28/10/2018 08:07

I suppose I am 3 degrees from Princess Diana, as a friend of a friend was her friend Confused

Anyway apparently she was pretty awful, as in, one minute all pally-pally and the next it was "call me Your Royal Highness" - sounds a bit like Princess Margaret.

thatone · 28/10/2018 08:07

Didn't love the olive green dress - was a bit dull.

Berry dress (thanks for the link) nice colour but agree that top part looks out of proportion.

Landing in NZ outfit - spot on! Looks comfortable, stylish and the whole look suits her.

thatone · 28/10/2018 08:12

The suffrage dress is also lovely, and, as PP have said, she speaks beautifully.

Cliodna
'....Some interesting genetic markers on those toes.'
Explain please.

Quantumblue · 28/10/2018 08:15

Kate must flinch a bit at how good Meghan is at public speaking. There's no way she could stride across a stage like that even now.

QueenOfTheAndals · 28/10/2018 08:16

Oh god, if we're discussing Meghan's toes then we've sunk to the level of the Mail's sidebar of shame!!!

Meghan is an actress - She’s had the training. My elder dc is similar to Meghan, does am dram, very confident. My younger dc isn’t. It’s partly training, partly character.

QueenOfTheAndals · 28/10/2018 08:29

She's also had experience giving speeches to big audiences before, so is used to it to a certain extent.

Love the berry dress but again the neckline/top half is all wrong on her. Can’t stand shoes with big thick ankle straps regardless of how thin the ankles or expensive the shoes Grin

Really liking the reception dress - can anyone find a good pic? But didn’t like the trench on arrival, scruched up sleeves on a coat are just wrong!

Clionba · 28/10/2018 08:36

Briefly, as I kind of agree with QueenOfTheAndals! She has Morton's Toe, longer than the hallux. It's not uncommon and not a problem other than she may need to turn to more comfy shoes at some point. Some indicators that it's more common in those of Irish ancestry, but also found in areas of the Med. I'll stop there.

WipsGlitter · 28/10/2018 08:44

Why would you stop there?! It's either factual and true or speculation.

Hate that trench. Love the black reception dress.

thatone · 28/10/2018 08:44

Yes I would have thought that with her acting and drama background she would be able to speak with more confidence and 'feeling' than most of the Royals.

She actually seems more confident in those situations than when meeting the public, whereas Kate has always seemed at ease when meeting the public.

MinecraftHolmes · 28/10/2018 08:45

Loving the fluff. The berry dress is stunning.

If this counts, I’m 3 steps from the Queen because my uncle received his MBE from Prince Charles. And I think DH’s granny might have actually met her 🤔

I’m also 3 steps from the past 3 Popes because my gran was pals with archbishops and a cardinal who had all met them. So, you know. Direct line to the Vatican here.

Clionba · 28/10/2018 08:47

@WipsGlitter - oh it's all scientific fact. I think it's interesting, but am keenly aware others may not! I'd never seen pictures of Meghan's feet before, I was quite intrigued!

beanaseireann · 28/10/2018 08:49

Did anyone else think those ankle strap shoes had a look of criminal ankle tag about them on a quick glance ? Grin
I hate ankle strap shoes too WipsGlitter.
I thought they were the best ones I have seen in a long time.
They make most people's legs look horrid and I cannot for the life of me figure out why people with fat legs choose to wear them.

serenmoon · 28/10/2018 08:53

Meghan had a Maltese grandmother, so maybe that’s the Mediterranean link. She’s an actress so of course she would be a great public speaker, but I also feel that she cares about what she’s talking about. With William and Kate I don’t get that sense, more that they are reading a script that has been prepared for them.

mmmgoats · 28/10/2018 08:55

The black dress is gorgeous, the necklace is stunning - really suits her, I like how simple it is.

Not a fan of the nude ankle strap shoes either, although I didn’t mind the green dress - not a favourite though.

Liked the berry colour but agree with PPs that the top didn’t look quite right. I think her make up is looking better now as well.

She’s done such a good job this tour, I’ve really warmed to her.

IPromiseIWontBeNaughty · 28/10/2018 08:57

You see I do think William & Kate care. William especially because it’s been ingrained in him since birth that this is his job. Kate because she loves William & took the role on because of that. But they both hate public speaking but are naturals at meeting people. More so than Meghan is. They all bring different things to the table & should be applauded for that, not

IPromiseIWontBeNaughty · 28/10/2018 08:57

Compared. which is what I’m doing also Blush

serenmoon · 28/10/2018 09:01

I think they care about the duty of the role, but not necessarily about the subjects they are speaking on if that makes sense? And I think they see it as a duty, not something they want to do. William said as much in a tv interview he gave when he I thought he came across as being quite negative about the whole king thing.

Clionba · 28/10/2018 09:04

I'm always surprised that William and Kate aren't better speakers, it's a big part of their role. They had very expensive, exclusive educations which usually instill confidence and good speaking skills.

OutwiththeOutCrowd · 28/10/2018 09:05

Even if Will and Kate are more comfortable with less media attention on them, I bet there's an element of feeling like they are the dull, uninspiring relatives plodding along in low key fashion back in Blighty whilst Harry and Meghan sprinkle their stardust in exotic foreign places.

Holidaysareover · 28/10/2018 09:15

MM is doing such a brilliant job! Fabulous speeches, and really pulling off a few quirks: flat shoes, environmentally-friendly fashion, the 30 dollar ASOS dress....also some of the dodgy fashions were in keeping with local dress. I quite liked the dress tag story... poor her, but she is human and these things happen.

What a story! Her arsehole dad won the lottery and she married a prince (after a divorce). She has made her own story and I think it’s a remarkable achievement.
