Harry & Meghan have arrived in Sydney.
The purple folders coordinating with her coat will not slow down speculation...

Lordy. That Roksanda seems like manna from heaven for the eyes with all this drab.
At least we will have a Max explosion tomorrow.

At least we will have a Max explosion tomorrow.

Praise the Lord!

Can Will and Kate be invited to South America so we can see some fun clothes?

I thought there was a protocol person on hand to advise Meghan. She's becoming like Queen Victoria in 40 years of morning.

Navy suits her.

It's sort of funny that S&B is all about wearing neutrals to "look stylish" and "groomed" and whatever but then MM does it and it's drab Grin

CurlyWurlyTwirly · 21/10/2018 08:08

It's the combination of plain colours; severe styles, minimal if any accessories and the sheer relentlessness of monochrome.
Also, the Queen wears bright colours for a reason. To be seen. Like Kate; she knows she has a public persona and a private one. Meghan has not grasped that yet.
Given her previous penchant for social media and the Instagram she is used to sharing her private self.
It's still very early days as a royal. And of course she is going to be a mother so yet more changes are due.

The Times reports that H&M will not be seeking a royal title for their child. I don't think they'll go completely down the Princess Anne route though, as children of a duke are entitled to be styled Lady/Lord.

I think Meghan looks generally classic and crisp. I love the muted colours she wears, as an Autumn my wardrobe is probably similar (in colour if not cost 🤣) but I do have some orangey reds and brighter greens too.
The Gillian Anderson stuff is not mad prices but I was hoping for more silk shirts like she wore in the fall, there is only one.
Hope she doesn't do the Pacific trip and has a proper rest.

beanaseireann · 21/10/2018 09:03

I wish Gillian Anderson would bring out a range of those beautiful silk blouses she wore in The Fall thriller series.

LimpyLampy · 21/10/2018 09:14

I hope Megan doesn’t adopt gaudy colours! It’s all very well for a little old lady and mother of the bride Kate.

I think Megan stands out without any need to wear bright colours or frumpy clothes. She is naturally stylish. The most obvious difference between her and the majority of the RF is she knows what suits her and is confident enough to wear them.

Whatever she wears will be criticised by those who favour mother of the bride type clothes. Their styles are polar opposites. I hope they stay that way.

Elledorado · 21/10/2018 09:21

I loved almost everything that GA wore in The Fall.

beanaseireann · 21/10/2018 09:27

BlushI just went on that Winser clothes site and I saw Gillian Anderson silk blouses.
But I'd really like to know what brand of silk blouse she wore in The Fall.

QueenOfTheAndals · 21/10/2018 09:31

@LimpyLampy I totally agree that Meghan is naturally stylish. Her clothes suits her and she's clearly comfortable with the palette she chooses. It's then all the more "wow" when she does wear a colour, like that yellow dress, as it's so rare.

I also think if she'd worn anything bright or OTT to the Invictus Games she'd have been accused of wanting to steal the spotlight. Hell, there were insane MNetters who said her just being pregnant was stealing the Invictus' thunder!

SamanthaBrique · 21/10/2018 09:38

The most obvious difference between her and the majority of the RF is she knows what suits her and is confident enough to wear them.

Could not agree more. Look at Beatrice and Eugenie - all that money, all those clothes and most of the time they do not look good. Eugenie's wedding dress was a rare moment of good taste, even if it was matronly for a 27yo, but some of their other outfits are shockers.

Even Sophie frequently gets it wrong by wearing dresses a size too small for her. Meghan has gone the Princess Anne route - she knows what looks good on her and doesn't deviate from it!

MonteCarla · 21/10/2018 09:46

Am also bored of the monochrome now.

Is it more PR friendly if she says she’s going to pull out of a visit to a country because of “pregnancy tiredness” rather than “the risk of Zika”? It’s less damaging to that country’s tourism prospects, for sure. Wondering if a graceful last-minute cancellation was in fact always on the cards.

Clionba · 21/10/2018 09:48

Good points about Beatrice and Eugenie - they employed one of the most expensive stylists around, very expensive bespoke pieces - still not nailed it, or only rarely.

Clionba · 21/10/2018 09:51

Meghan will not detract from Invictus - she is giving it more publicity. It's certainly become an event. If she wore a scarlet jacket or an emerald green dress it wouldn't detract from the events at all.

beanaseireann · 21/10/2018 09:53

MonteCarla
I believe a last minute cancellation was always on the cards.

LimpyLampy · 21/10/2018 10:08

I agree about the last minute cancellation being on the cards all along. They have had months to plan the most diplomatic way to do this. Pulling out of a few events yesterday make it more credible.

I can’t imagine Megan wearing a scarlett dress unless for a very glam evening. She wears understated clothes that she manages to make look chic and glamorous. Its a natural ability that some people have and she has it in abundance.

I also think Princess Anne knows what suits her more than any stylist she could employ.

user1457017537 · 21/10/2018 10:16

Personally I think Eugenie’s wedding dress was crying out for a veil, even a short one. There seemed to be something missing.

Paradyning · 21/10/2018 10:40

I think this tiredness (I'm sure she is absolutely knackered) is a very good diplomatic escape from a tricky problem. The suits will have been trying to negotiate a means of escaping Zika without causes a diplomatic problem. As I said way upthread somewhere.

WipsGlitter · 21/10/2018 10:51

Whoever said she wasn't a trainers girl - she's wearing Vans (I think) on a boat!

Harry is onto such a winner with Invictus. It really is a great idea and he is so genuinely enthusiastic about it.
