Matching undies - do you bother?

For the last few years, I've been buying into the advertising and purchasing matching bras and knickers. But now I'm beginning to think - is it worth it?

The matching knickers are usually uncomfortable, don't wash well, and cost about £15 for one pair of pants, all in the quest to look attractive in our smalls. I'm starting to wonder whether it's better to just buy a multi-pack of M&S cotton knickers and be comfortable with less risk of thrush!

Do you bother to match, or do most thing it's not worth the bother?

No and never have

Lucked · 13/10/2018 15:03

Nope unless I am wearing a black dress when they might accidentally match,

8FencingWire · 13/10/2018 15:08

Always!
I don’t really know why, but I would never ever choose to have mismatched underwear. I’ve always bought a bra and two pairs of knickers.
But then...I’m forrin 😉

cathyandclare · 13/10/2018 15:10

Always and obsessively. Not just colour, I don't even like the lace to be different in pattern.

bellsbuss · 13/10/2018 15:13

Always , I think it looks nicer

EdWinchester · 13/10/2018 15:13

Sort of.

I wear plain black bras and black pants every day, so they match in principle.

I do wear matching coloured underwear if I am going out.

SinglePringle · 13/10/2018 15:15

Always. I also buy 2 x knickers for each bra and if I’m wearing a simple t-shirt bra, I’ve got a drawer full of plain black, white and nude knickers that I’ll wear so I match (even if not a ‘set’).

If I’m buying a nice bra and there’s no suitable knickers in 2 different styles, I won’t buy the bra.

AliMonkey · 13/10/2018 15:24

Almost never as you can hardly ever get matching cotton knickers and non-cotton aren't comfortable. So maybe on a special occasion but definitely not everyday.

Can anyone recommend somewhere to buy matching sets with cotton knickers?

oopslateagain · 13/10/2018 15:28

Never. I have four bra's that fit and are comfortable, and I grab whatever knickers are at the front of my undies drawer as long as they won't show through my clothes (learned that after wearing red stripey knickers under a pastel floaty skirt Blush)

Life is too short to worry about matching undies.

Growingboys · 13/10/2018 15:29

No. I match the colour of my bra to the colour of the top I'm wearing, plus black M&S pants for everything unless I'm in white jeans, then it's white M&S pants.

Growingboys · 13/10/2018 15:30

The only time I suppose I must have given this thought was when I was dating and hoping to get lucky or in the early stages of a relationship.

Charlotte48 · 13/10/2018 15:30

I always match my knickers and bras - they may not be exactly the same style but they are always the same colour and material - I just think it looks nice but maybe I'm a bit OCD (that's been said before!)

carrie74 · 13/10/2018 15:34

No, I'm really fussy about pants, and bras actually, as I'm very small-boobed, so I buy what I know fits and works with my lifestyle (Victoria's Secret Body). I have to wear cotton pants (my skin reacts to any lace or polyester in my undercarriage within a couple of hours which is painful and unpleasant), so now I buy super cute very colourful pants and almost always a nude bra.

Ohyesiam · 13/10/2018 15:36

Nope, never have.

ferrier · 13/10/2018 15:39

Absolutely always. Feel odd if not. And 95% of the time they're from a set, not just colour matched. They also match whatever I'm wearing too.

cathyandclare · 13/10/2018 15:43

I misread your post Carrie and thought you were a Victoria's Secret Angel- so was Shock at the non-matching undies!

thedevilinablackdress · 13/10/2018 15:44

God no. The matching pants are scratchy, wedgie things most of the time.
Will often be wearing something that goes colour wise is black, but that's about it.

carrie74 · 13/10/2018 15:49

😂 Cathy

Maryann1975 · 13/10/2018 15:50

I used to buy matching pants whenever I bought a new bra, but now I normally get bras in the sale so you can’t expect them to have matching pants around. Dh also works shifts so I have to get dressed on the landing as he’s still sleeping off his night shift. I always forget to get clothes out the night before so I end up having to grab any pants out of the drawer in the dark trying not to disturb him with my disorganisation. I’d never manage finding matching ones.

ferrier · 13/10/2018 16:01

I don't buy a bra if the matching pants aren't available. And although thongs and shorties are usually available most of the bra sets are available with standard non-wedgie pants .... I should know as I refuse to buy anything uncomfortable!

QueenOfMyWorld · 13/10/2018 16:16

No I only wear bras usually i find pants uncomfortable, only wear if wearing skirt or dress

Littlechocola · 13/10/2018 16:46

70% of the time. I’ll probably be run over by a bus on a day when I don’t match which would have upset my granny.
I feel nice when I match, like I’ve got my shit together even when I haven’t Grin

Polkapjs · 13/10/2018 16:52

Nope. Try and match loosely but I wear the no VPL shorts and they’re usually plain - never see matching pants that I like

PotteringAlong · 13/10/2018 16:53

Never. I don’t own any matching sets.

MissDai5y · 13/10/2018 17:00

Nope, if the bra is comfortable the pants aren't or vice versa. I do tend to wear a black t-shirt bra and black pants most of the time though.

I am that person that got hit by a car and joked about my mis matching undies with the paramedics (what else you gonna do when lying in the middle of the road?)
