If id said Lancome's Hypnose would you guess a different age?

I used to wear Miracle in my late 20's/early 30's. I love 'Romance' too.

bluetrampolines · 03/10/2018 20:31

Yeah that's when i first wore it too. What should I be wearing now?

OP posts:
Ginslinger · 03/10/2018 20:39

I would say mid 40s

Screamqueenz · 03/10/2018 20:41

Yes I'd guess mid 40s.

jenniuol · 03/10/2018 20:44

I love miracle Blush one of my favourite perfumes. I’ve worn it for years. I’m 30.

bluetrampolines · 03/10/2018 20:45

I'm amazed I wore it my late 20s. Now I feel so out of sorts. Can anyone recommend anything new?

OP posts:
AuntieStella · 03/10/2018 20:46

No, I wouldn't make ageist assumptions. Seriously.

Wear the scent that gives you a little lift when you spray it on, and which makes you feel fantastic

AnyFucker · 03/10/2018 20:46

It's mine too

I am 50+

Must have been ahead of my time Smile

Screamqueenz · 03/10/2018 20:56

If you love it, keep wearing it, we don't have to revert to Chanel no 5 at 40!
I'm currently wearing Dalia Divine, no idea what age it's for, but I love it.

Dontfeellikeamillenial · 03/10/2018 21:09

At least 40

Bluntness100 · 03/10/2018 21:16

I'd also have assumed that, I'm sorry,

I'm 49. I wear Laura mercier ambre and vanille body lotion, it's stronger than any perfume and lasts all day, and into the next. If I want to layer I wear Burberry body or Burberry London. I like soft, powdery feminine scents, and to be fairly unique.

Why not pop along to a department store and try some different perfumes.

Otherwise, what do you like? What one person likes isn't what someone else will.

bluetrampolines · 03/10/2018 21:21

Don't be sorry! I was just interested.

SophieGiroux · 03/10/2018 21:37

Ck one wearer I would say 40.

How about Chanel Allure?

UserMillionBillion · 04/10/2018 18:13

Who cares though? If people can smell you they can also SEE you and unless somebody recognises the scent they won't know which it is.

I know ck one is dated but it's perfect for work I think. There may be other versions of the same thing but I still want something unisex, fresh, not sweet, not floral....

UserMillionBillion · 04/10/2018 18:17

Chanel Allure came out about 1997 I think. Allure perfumes are more timeless I think. I love Christalle, it's so sparkly but I find chanel no 19 too powdery and old and chanel no 5 is just 'ok'.

UserMillionBillion · 04/10/2018 18:18

I mean chanel perfumes more popular to all I think. Less related to age.

IfNotNowThenWhen1 · 04/10/2018 18:21

I LOVE no.19 but it smells awful on me. I quite often wear JPG Classique which is dead common but I love the gingery note it names me happy.
Not smelled Miracle -off to Fragantica..

DonDrapersOldFashioned · 04/10/2018 18:23

CKOne, I’d say you were mid teens-18 when it came out in the mid nineties. It was really popular. So I think you are probably late 30’s-early 40’s now.

If the perfumes listed are your "signatures"

Miracle- would be mid 30s and they've been wearing it for about 10 years.

Chanel Allure - early 50s and been wearing it for more than 20 years

CK One- since the early 90s.

Hypnose =you've been wearing it for about 5-6 years.

Burberry- marketed at late teens/early 20s.

Laura Mercier- not really aimed at any age group- more at women who shop in big department stores.

Guessing a person's age based on their perfume isn't ageist- it's just acknowledging when perfumes were released/at the height of their ad campaigns and who those ad campaigns were aimed at. The only time comments about perfume become ageist are when they refer to certain perfumes as "old lady" smells. There was a strange thread which Iirc was deleted a year or so back because of this, which rather made those of us on the perfumista threads chuckle as "old lady" is a compliment in our books, not an insult (old lady scent= almost always has a powdery element to it etc)

IfNotNowThenWhen1 · 04/10/2018 18:23

Ooh Miracle sounds yummy.

BookMeOnTheSudExpress · 04/10/2018 18:26

JPG Classique- about 1994? 1995? Late forties. Because you were 25 when you started wearing it, and you started wearing it because vanilla was dead trendy then, and the bottle was shocking.

Allure isn't considered as much of a "classic" as many other Chanels. (and of course it was released to compete with Dune which it's very similar to)
