40-60?

Bluntness100 · 05/10/2018 10:47

I remember Lou Lou, it was very popular back in the day.

My best friend wore anais anais but I could never get on with it.

I wore one with an exclamation mark on the bottle, I think thr bottle was black and the exclamation mark bright pink, but I could be wrong, it was cheap, can't for the life of me recall it's name though.

TheSpottedZebra · 05/10/2018 11:01

This thread is fascinating. Do me!

I love Prada Infusion d'Iris, and Diptyque Volutes.
Also original Donna Karen Cashmere Mist and an ancient Kate Spade edp (that is very jasminey, IIRC), and I suspect is not be discontinued.
I also occasionally have a spritz of my youthful throwback, Chanel Allure Sensuelle.

TheSpottedZebra · 05/10/2018 11:02

Bluntness - you'll be astounded to know that that was... Exclamation.

BookMeOnTheSudExpress · 05/10/2018 11:53

Yes both Loulou and Anais Anais have been reformulated- you can pick up "collection" sets quite easily on ebay with both in, and they tend to be the original versions- I have a couple stashed away. If you want a full bottle of AA you need to check it's AA "L'originale" on the box and not just AA. (same with Miss Dior) Loulou is a powerhouse. Always reminds me a bit of Poison.

Spotted Zebra- early-mid 30s.
Infusion d'Iris is my go-to comfort food perfume. If I'm having an off day, or need to feel cossetted, or am a bit sick, that's the one I turn to. That wonderful soapy smell. Love it. I wear it to weddings/funerals/visiting new babies

Bluntness100 · 05/10/2018 12:03

Exclamation! Doh!

Of course it was.

I loved that for awhile 🤣🤣🤣

cementpointing · 05/10/2018 12:03

39-42

BookMeOnTheSudExpress · 05/10/2018 12:39

It's about £8 on allbeauty Bluntness! Treat yourself and dive into the past!

Bluntness100 · 05/10/2018 12:40

NotMaryWhitehouse · 05/10/2018 12:49

@bluetrampolines I'm 37 and have been wearing miracle for years. Bad news is- they are discontinuing it! Now I have to find something new and I'm v sad about it actually.

bluetrampolines · 05/10/2018 13:21

They are discontinuing it? That is such terrible news. I hope i can get at least one more bottle.

I wear Tommy Hilfiger Tommy Girl. How old am I?

championquartz · 05/10/2018 23:32

Omg this thread is like a walk down memory lane!

I fall into the same category as lots of you!
Scent is so funny, I can almost remember events associated with mentioned perfumes.
Teens: Anaïs Anaïs,
20s: Dune, Paris, Rive Gauche, Shalimar (mainly for the bottleBlush ), Paloma Picasso, some of the Nina Ricci ones. Eternity. CK one
30s Allure, went off perfumes in pregnancy and for years after
40s Happy, Prada

Sidetrack anecdote: we had backyard hens when I was a tiny toddler - before age 2. We didn’t have them after I was 2. A few years ago, we got backyard hens. The first time I went to clean the coop, the smell was utterly familiar to me and evoked some undefinable comfortable feeling in me. And I didn’t find the smell at all unpleasant, where as my kids were all . My mum says I was always pootling about with her and the hens as a toddler.
Smell is such a powerful sense.

championquartz · 05/10/2018 23:32

Jeez sorry the essay!

thighofrelief · 05/10/2018 23:44

I'll play! My fairly new favourite is Alaia Paris and I loathe Chanel No 5. Can anyone guess my age?

namastayinbed · 06/10/2018 06:33

20s: Hugo boss for her, clinique happy
30s: Ghost, Issey Miyake

Now - clueless!

AnotherEmma · 06/10/2018 06:42

Guess my age!
Sisley Izia and before that I wore Chanel Allure

LadyOfTheCanyon · 06/10/2018 07:23

Teens: mostly body shop oils like coconut, mango and sandalwood. There was an M&S range in the 80s that was bergamot and something that came in metal tins. I was gutted when that was discontinued. Then I got given a bottle of Obsession and I practically drowned myself in it.

20s: Sunflowers, a Benetton perfume that I can't remember that came in a multicoloured bottle, Escape, Gap Om, Chanel Coco, XS ( still miss that one!)

30s: JPG Classique, Marc Jacobs original, Origins ginger, Ghost original, Hermes Eau d'orange vert, Gucci Envy ( aftershave, not perfume). That scent was an animal! Jigsaw also did a perfume that I loved which smelt of green tomato stems- there's a Diptyque scent now that smells almost identical but I can't remember which one.

40s: still wearing Marc Jacobs original ( love Gardenia!) although it's a bugger to find these days. Tom Ford Champaca Absolute, Vilhelm Parfumerie's Dear Polly, FM's Portrait of a Lady and Dries van Noten, Le Labo Santal 33, Aesop Marrakesh Intense, J-Lo Miami Glow

I think all you can take from my decades of perfume wearing is that I have more money now than I used to!

MissLadyM · 08/10/2018 00:26

Sahara Noir by Tom Ford has been discontinued! Apparently over a year ago but I've been making mine last and now it's finished.. Anyone got some to sell?!?!

NotMaryWhitehouse · 08/10/2018 05:50

@bluetrampolines I know! I've started making people in department stores check the drawers for it! Grabbed the last bottle in a John Lewis that way! It's still widely available online at the mo.

SpeckledyHen · 08/10/2018 07:18

So if my favourite fragrance of all time is Aviance Night how old am I ?

BookMeOnTheSudExpress · 08/10/2018 07:19

MissLady- Perfume Parlour do a very good dupe of Sahara Noir.

Miracle seems to have been pulled from the UK, (at least I can't see it on the Lancome website) but not elsewhere. I am in Italy and it is still available on the official Lancome website. Also still available on allbeauty.com for UK delivery.

Heartburn- Tommy Girl should make you about my age (early 50s) but it's a very youthful fragrance so you could have discovered it because you're a sporty young thing! (one of the first fragrances iirc to use melon as a note!)
