Thanks blah blah, I haven't heard of most of those, can you get them from your average purfume shop? Sorry if I didn't give the right info, can you tell I don't have a clue about these sorts of things!!
I suppose if there's a purfume that smells like sanctuary spa but will last all day then that's what I'm after!

3TresTrois · 27/10/2018 18:37

Have you tried any of the Clarins perfumes? Billy They’re quite ‘spa’ like.
Eau Dynamisante, Eau Resourcante and Eau de Jardins are all varying degrees of citrusy and herbal.

I’m trying to recall what Sanctuary products smell like...are they quite soapy? Have you tried the Philosophy Grace range? Quite clean, soapy fragrances.

SOTD is MMM Fireplace. Been out for lunch and now cosied up on the couch, the weather is vile.

billy I don’t particularly like the Sanctuary smell (sorry) but always get a load of it for Christmas. I think you want something quite citrus-y, but with a bit of warmth to it. Jo Malone does an orange blossom but I think it’s more fresh, and the other one that springs to mind is Heeley St Clements, which is maybe more like it but not widely available. In terms of the warmth, Origins Ginger Essence might be up your street.

Mona Di Orio Musc is Sotd. It’s essentially a cashmere sweater of a perfume. Powdery Heliotrope with Rose and Coumarin - lovely on a cold day. I really don’t like any of the Myrrh perfumes I’ve tried so far. Amouage Jubilation smells like urine initially and doesn’t get much better as the notes progress. Jo Malone Myrrh & Tonka is way too sweet. I’ve received the older formulation of Eau d Iparie and that’s wonderful. Plus I’ve ordered the Myrrh & Frankinsense sample set from Bloom.

Billydessert · 27/10/2018 21:09

Thanks so much for all the suggestions, I didn't expect to get so many. I've written these down and will go and investigate. No offence taken at not liking sanctuary spa Smile
To be honest I've never put that much effort into trying different purfumes. I try but I don't always get the descriptions and feel bad smelling everything but then not liking or buying any of them.
Anyway, thank you so much, you've given me loads to go on x

Blah - Fennel is right, Bodhi Language would be a good option. Or, perhaps even Eau my Soul?

Shazam! is a fabulous orange-amber ball of sunshine with a big hippy patchouli note. Very uplifting and fun.

FdB makes me think of Stash and PW's Girl.

Bedtime fragrance is Tart’s Knicker Drawer. Love 💕

UnnecessaryFennel · 28/10/2018 00:00

Not particularly imo MrsR. On me, at least, it's a pretty straight-up sandalwood with a sweetish edge (that may well be the rum I guess!)

I really like it but it never seems to get much attention.

Very woody. Thought it was whiskey rather than rum, and don't think there is any coconut? Could be wrong...

SOTD Sex Goddess.

I got the 9ml when it was half price and really like it. I like that the sweetness and powderyness is tempered by the oakmoss and woods. Wish it had more projection, though. It has that same addictive sniffability/but frustratingly not strong enough combo of Sexiest Scent.

How does Goddess of Love and Perfume compare, does anyone know?

MrsLucas · 28/10/2018 18:04

Opening: GoL&P fruit, myrrh and moss, then a moment of Jickyesque curdled milk as the vanilla first shows up alongside the fruit, and then more sweet fruit, and progressively raspier moss (still gentle and soapy though). With Sex Goddess you get an initial blast of cedar and almost an oudh note, before gentler fruit and moss come through and then it shimmies back and forward to cedar and musk.

Both are fruity chypres, Sex Goddess is much woodier and muskier, GoL&P is on the mossier side (and is only available as extrait I think?).

Fans of Outdoors (and modern cedar notes) should have some Sex Goddess for their boudoir. Fans of Paris 1948, and Sarah Mc's vintage fruity/floral/chypre vibe are likely to prefer GoL&P.

I gave up on Grazia years ago (for becoming full of exactly the celebrity tripe it originally said it wasn't going to cover...). But I had a long journey...and found an article on good cheap High Street perfumes (H&M figured prominently), and even more interestingly, a Polly Vernon article on the GRA.

GL&P sounds intriguing, MrsL. Thank you for the description!

SOTE Liz Earle Botanical Essence 20. Using up samples. Meh.

Judystilldreamsofhorses · 28/10/2018 20:54

SOTD Caldey Island Lavender. Feeling really unsettled as back to work tomorrow, and DP away last night and today. Hate the clocks going back too.

MrsLucas · 28/10/2018 21:15

It's a grower, 3.

SOTD is MG Plum. This is the nearest anything in my collection ever really gets to what I think of as a big 80s powerhouse floral chypre (with the possible exception of EL Knowing). It makes me think of shoulder pads and big hair and power dressing, and it's bloody brilliant.

I have a week off now so am feeling incredibly lazy and just want to snuggle up on the sofa...but the blasted boiler is on the blink and there's no heating

SOTD 4160 Sexiest scent. Still loving PP Wood fire and also 4160 Candlelight.

MrsLucas · 29/10/2018 10:24

SotD is The Great Randello. A rich, warm, sweet tobacco gourmand, for a properly cold morning.

Branleuse · 29/10/2018 11:10

SOTD is www.fragrantica.com/perfume/Ulric-de-Varens/Ciel-10434.html

I got it for 5 euros from Carrefour , and its a vanilla floral that reminds me a bit of talc. Its quite comforting and clean smelling

MissBattleaxe · 29/10/2018 11:52

Hello everyone, I've been off MN for a while but now I'm back to be all obsessive about perfume again. I'm among friends by the looks of it! SOTD 4160 Tuesdays Sex Goddess. I'm also a perfume blogger so if you have any questions I'll see if I can help.
