Trying out Laura mercier ambre vanille - love the top notes but not how it settles. The hunt for The One continues!

teta · 23/10/2018 10:09

Sotd is Tobacco Rose.
I’ve put my Chergui on eBay for the same price I bought it from Notino. It’s just too sweet on me. It’s too bad because I loved it a few months ago. Now I seem to amplify anything the slightest bit sugary. I’ve also decided to bite the bullet and put my Bois de Iles Parfum on as well.Aldehydes really don’t suit me! I know Bluebell loved this and I hope you are ok?

teta · 23/10/2018 10:16

Cakonger it’s very difficult to recommend unless we have more idea of the things you like. Do you know which Eccentric Molecule perfume it was? l’occitane have several light perfumes that are worth a browse. Or the M&S perfume section is useful to narrow down the type of perfumes you will gravitate towards.

Just a very quick post to leave this here...

My Notino order arrived so am at my desk swathed in both Chergui and Gingembre 😆 Luckily my long-suffering office mate is away...

Teta your BDI is tempting. Chergui is sweet, I agree, but it feels right for the season. It makes me think of cold country walks, wrapped up in a big scarf. Gingembre is the comfort of getting home afterwards to a roaring fire.

Very surprised to be loving Zara Red Vanilla this Autumn. Similar to Euphoria, lasts well, and complimented twice today, one being a random man.

Barracker · 23/10/2018 13:13

That's what I'll wear today, Chicinwellies, red vanilla!
I originally bought it because I was told it was a fair dupe for LVEB, and it does have some similarity.
Haven't worn it in ages.
Thanks for the reminder

UnnecessaryFennel · 23/10/2018 17:54

Have opted for a top-up of 5 o'clock au gingembre now I'm home. This really is so lovely. Am in heaven.

Also very happy in Z14 Grin. Stunning deep citrus/spice opening.

teta Yes sorry, quite a vague question! I liked Escentric molecules 03. The only fragrance I have found that I love is EDP For Her, the one in the pale pink bottle. I generally like soft subtle scents that aren't too heady. I like woody fragrances but find some of them a bit too one-note or overpowering eg the Jo Malone ones in the black bottles. Last time I looked for an autumn scent I tried Tom Ford Cafe Rose, Noir to Noir and Plum japonais, I loved them at first but dried down to quite a boring one-note woody scent on me to the point I couldn't tell them apart.

Hearing about the fragrances in this thread has made me want to try again!

Popping back in to post SoTD as Eau de The Bleu. It's always been somehing likeable but at the tail end of an Indian summer, it was oddly right today.

CountFosco · 23/10/2018 21:00

SotD MG Lemon.

3TresTrois · 23/10/2018 21:04

I’ve spent all bloody day today and yesterday cleaning my house, which was in a right state. Half term fun, eh.

No SOTD, but SOTE to cheer myself up is a big spritz of frivolous Jessica Simpson Fancy. Gourmand heaven. I feel like a tarte tatin Grin!

SOTD is Tauerville Vanilla Flash.

Branleuse · 24/10/2018 09:42

SOTD is Rose Oud by Yves Rocher.
I got this in the summer in France, but i think its better this time of year

Reaa · 24/10/2018 11:23

Can anyone recommend an aftershave for a teenager that likes "Millions" but I need to be able to buy it from Superdrug or Boots today.

Reaa · 24/10/2018 11:23

*Please

teta · 24/10/2018 11:42

I’ve been led down a Myrrh rabbit hole. I fell in love with Eau d iparie at the weekend. Sold my Chergui and promptly bought a bottle of this, only to become obsessed with myrrh. I’ve discovered it’s the bitter note in Battito d Ali that leavens the sugary orange blossom pastry notes. Now I’ve ordered Profumum Roma Olibanum & Neroli for the myrrh notes.I’m also trying to buy the Iparie original only to find the eBay sellers are not playing ball.

Pp wood fire has arrived. I like it but having major smell deja vu that I can’t place.

Reaa · 24/10/2018 12:47

Mrsr8 Thank you

I am not posting much as am on an autumnal Opium/Shalimar binge. It's not quite autumnal enough here for LADDM or Lonestar Memories!

I am still not working. Fuxache. So have upped the tutoring (but they bore me rigid Blush) and am thinking of plunging into the online lessons to China rabbithole. Gah.

I agree about Nuits d'Hadrien- it's not Nuit-y at all Grin in the same way that Seville a' l'aube isn't Aube-y. Maybe they should exchange names?
