For the unconventional, alternative, rockers, punks, goths amongst us?

Our H&M had some good stuff in - sadly, nothing for me, looks of black or dark grey. Sainsburys had some pinafore dresses in and some cool stripey trousers that could look good with thr right too and shoes.

KittyB52 · 05/10/2018 16:33

*lots not looks.

Love51 · 07/10/2018 14:18

Ooh I've got that exact one. Wasn't thinking of it as alternative, pinafore dresses are everywhere at the moment!

LivingDeadGirlUK · 07/10/2018 14:48

@Love51 I am thinking of pairing with a black lace blouse under and chunky boots.

thereareflowersinmygarden · 07/10/2018 15:16

I HAVE FOUND MY PEOPLE!

Hello, btw. Late 30's Mum here who needs her mojo back. My teenage goth self would be horrified at my current wardrobe.

I used to love Joe Browns but it's all nylon now, boo!

Is nomads any good these days?

MrsPMT · 07/10/2018 17:21

AltogetherAndrews have a look at Rieker boots, they are usually very light. They have some granny-ish styles but also some alternative styles. These are quite like docs.

Love51 · 07/10/2018 18:40

Does anyone know how to translate sizes in EMP? I'm almost 5ft 9, usually a 12, sometimes apparently a 10 (like the dress above from new look). So am I M or L? There's a dress I keep looking at that I really like but I won't wear if it too short - and at my height most dresses are a bit on the short size! It says medium length but doesn't look medium length on the model!

Love51 · 07/10/2018 18:44

@LivingDeadGirlUK sorry I thought I had replied to your comment but clearly hadn't sent it. I might have to invest in a lacy shirt as that sounds fab. I really need to overhaul and get back in touch with my sense of style!

bullyingadvice2017 · 07/10/2018 19:20

I have bought some reiker ankle boots they are comfy and I love them!

Cocolepew · 07/10/2018 20:25

AltogetherAndrews, Fly London boots are very comfy, I live in my Myso ones.

HateMyHair · 08/10/2018 14:24

Oh I've found my people! Grin

I too have got stuck in a rut, mumsy style for years! I'm early 40s and not sure what to wear anymore. I was a 90s grunge kid, in my head I still want to dress that way, but feeling old mortified as my teenage son's girlfriend is wearing the stuff I used to wear - cord minis, leggings, combat trousers, band Ts, big jumpers and DMs! Blush

I 5ft 4 and a size 10/12, but have got the dreaded mum tum so not even sure what I can get away with anymore.

I want to feel stylish but also a bit different. I have the same boots as HippyChickMama, but usually just wear them with skinny jeans.

I'm not even sure where to shop anymore. Confused

BobbinThreadbare123 · 08/10/2018 16:57

EMP is a bit odd. I got a coat, a hoodie and a top in a M and leggings and a band t-shirt in a L. I'm a 12 and 5ft7. The coat is big, the hoodie is good and the top also OK. The leggings are big and the band t-shirt barely fits. I have got a considerable frontage though. I would buy from them again though. DH likes the nerd t-shirts.

Love51 · 08/10/2018 22:28

Thanks for that *bobbin". I'm not 'blessed' up top so won't have that problem. So I probably won't need L. Just wish there was some way of knowing if it will cover my arse. I'm not experienced in shopping online, I usually try things on or guess by holding an actual garment.
Alsoi might put it off a while. I've bought a lot of clothes since I joined this thread. My Joe brown 2nd hand eBay dress arrived today. I quite like it, don't love it. Online may not be for me.

LivingDeadGirlUK · 22/10/2018 12:33

I am not supposed to be buying any clothes till after Christmas but this is cute AND reduced.

LivingDeadGirlUK · 09/11/2018 08:58

Looking for a few bits to carry me through the various work and social events coming up in December. Quite liking the idea of velvet.

HateMyHair · 13/11/2018 10:37

I've decided I'd quite like some ankle boots, as my longer DMs ( these ones ) are a bit tricky to wear, but I'm not sure what I want!

I need something I can wear with skinny jeans, but can also be worn with dresses & skirts (as I'd like to get out of dressing "safely" in jeans all the time).

I think I'd like heeled ones, as I fel more confident with a heel, but not sure! Can anyone help me out?

LivingDeadGirlUK · 03/12/2018 16:13

Quite taken by this but might be a bit too alternative for work. www.joebrowns.co.uk/sp+A-Touch-Of-Elegance-Skirt+WS088?utm_source=facebook&utm_medium=cpc&utm_campaign=Dynamic+Cold
