For the unconventional, alternative, rockers, punks, goths amongst us?

Yes @PhilomenaButterfly
These are they:

I just picked up some black micro cord leggings from Tesco for £12! They've slipped nicely into my all black, overweight, ageing goth wardrobe!

boldlygoingsomewhere · 16/09/2018 14:35

I’ve seen some nice pieces in Anthropologie for autumn. They have some lovely green shades which really suit me. It’s often a challenge to find something which ticks the box of right colour and flattering shape. Necklines are often a problem - high necks look awful on me.

PhilomenaButterfly · 16/09/2018 17:00

Ooh, they're lovely! What are they made of, and is it as long lasting as leather? 💜💜💜💜

Sadik · 16/09/2018 17:11

I'm in :) Need to go back & read the thread. I really, really need some new winter clothes, have already bought & sent back 3 pairs of trousers.
That very sadly including some tartan stretchy skinnies that would have been perfect except that I hadn't spotted they were polyester :( .

I need to replace some very faded & worn but fabulously comfy green combats - don't usually get on with jeans but considering these from Hell Bunny.

boldlygoingsomewhere · 16/09/2018 18:03

I love this dress:

If anyone knows of something similar and cheaper, please share. Grin

chezbot · 16/09/2018 18:11

Oh my... That dress is incredible @boldlygoingsomewhere

I have nowt constructive to share but I'm going to lurk and get inspired.

Sadik · 16/09/2018 18:19

Very many thanks for the Tattopani rec - now wondering if this skirt isn't exactly what I need for the winter.
Also recently found Psylo clothes, and considering this top - I love asymmetric cuts.

BobbinThreadbare123 · 16/09/2018 18:23

It'd be good to have some ideas in the 'not multiple hundreds for one item' bracket. I like www.dollskill.com - they do present in dollars initially but you can change that at the top and, if you spend more than $75 worth, you get free shipping. Alas, I can't wear the sack-like stuff which the Scandi-goths (and I) love. It looks absurd and maternity muu-muu-like on a 32H bust.

Hippopotas · 16/09/2018 18:59

Yay. Great thread

LivingDeadGirlUK · 16/09/2018 21:28

@sadik I have been eyeing up those jeans but not sure if my massive arse will look even bigger than already is in them.

JohnMcCainsDeathStare · 16/09/2018 22:09

I've been wanting a thread like this - only if I start this sort of thread it just gets deleted.

I want to have alternative clothes that can be dressed up or down - EMP ok for daily stuff but there's not much there that's formal. I have a high street budget but not high street inclinations for beige polyester that doesn't fit half the time.

I'd love a simple charcoal grey/black blazer - that'd go with loads of things but cannot find one for love or money.

LivingDeadGirlUK · 16/09/2018 22:51

@JohnMcCainsDeathStare had a look at M&S? not hugely trendy I know but I like for 'work wear' type stuff and they had a nice velvet type one when I was last in.

duvetdaysgone · 17/09/2018 10:59

@JohnMcCainsDeathStare

In regards to the Blazer, what size are you? I maybe able to help you out.

JohnMcCainsDeathStare · 17/09/2018 16:30

Variable - I had to retire my charcoal grey one size 10 since it became too tight on the biceps after I started lifting but my size 18 Vivian Westwood one creaks alarmingly when I tie my shoelaces.

I take a tape measure to go shopping - I'm 40 cm across the back if that's any help and my top half is a 12-16 depending on cut and fabric.

Thanks for the help though.

JohnMcCainsDeathStare · 17/09/2018 16:32

I have some nice fines in M&S - black and charcoal leopard print treggings and a nice black lace miniskirt not long ago.

Strippervicar · 17/09/2018 16:45

Last branded thing I bought was a liquorbrand dress with swallows on. I like dolly and dotty or emp for dressy stuff. But will pick things up from anywhere. I ebay a lot too. My mummy uniform consists of black jeggings or leggings with black vests or band tees. Finish with black dms/brogues and leather jacket/leopard print.

Sadik · 17/09/2018 17:08

@LivingDeadGirlUK my issue with trousers tends to be space for my thighs without the waist being huge (I don't feel I'm that thundrous of thigh, but I do like a higher & definite waist) - I'm hoping the 50s cut will give me that more curvy look.

LivingDeadGirlUK · 17/09/2018 17:18

@sadik I know what you mean, my new high waisted skinnies from emp arrived today, lovely fit over my massive bum but very tight in the thigh.

Sadik · 18/09/2018 20:26

Ordered a few things so hoping that some at least will be a good improvement to my winter wardrobe :)

Member · 19/09/2018 08:53

I like a lot of things on

theunconventional.co.uk/womenswear.html

and some Helmut Lang

I don’t have the budget or figure though!

H&M is definitely the best accessible shop imo.

I don’t really do colour: I’m black/grey/khaki(army green) which are reasonably common, not keen on most bling/embellishment, nylony fabric. I like texture and a bit of asymmetry.

Basically,I want clothes that don’t look cheap and are interesting despite being predominately black and that are affordable. Moon.on.a.stick.

ShadowsInTheDarkness · 19/09/2018 10:02

Ooh what a fab thread! Ive really struggled over the summer as its been so hot for so long so really enjoying the decline in temperatures and the chance to get excited about clothes again.

Im fairly gothy but have a few more hippyish things in the wardrobes.
Demonia do nice vegan DMs. They do a boot called Rage/Rebel in 3 diff hole sizes. Ive got the 400s and the ankle boots and love them.

I've been hunting online for a full length black fitted cardigan, thick and chunky knit style with a hood. Cannot find one anywhere that isnt either too short, too thin or oversized.

I wear skirts and dresses mostly. And have a coat addiction. Last year bought the Poison Alice coat in tartan, and am eyeing it up in black! Also have a Nomads coat I found on ebay a few years back which I love. Full length red velvet with hood.

Pfaffingly · 19/09/2018 12:35

@boldlygoingsomewhere that dress is amazing, I love the rest of their stuff too (and of course modelled by Jean Woods).

If you want something of a similar ilk then look for Bohemia www.bohemia.se and Heart www.heart.nl They are much much cheaper, they are (IMO anyway) lagen look that you can wear without feeling drowned.

I will be back to this thread later with tea and biscuits!

boldlygoingsomewhere · 19/09/2018 14:50

Thanks for those links, Pfaffingly. I like the look of Bohemia. Could definitely do with a cheaper option! I also found NU Denmark recently and that was also a bit more pricey!
