Had enough of seeing something repeated ad nauseam?

Want to offload when having tried to find good quality, stylish clothes you are instead met with a sea of shit? Epically garish, cheaply manufactured (without the corresponding price tag) and downright tired apply here.

I may be alone in having this need, but may I start by offering..... the rainbow jumper. How to take a perfectly useable piece of cloth and curse it to landfill in nanoseconds.....

I was really hoping that unnecessary decorations on clothes would have gone away for autumn / winter, but I was in M&S today and saw this little beauty. I don’t think it’s meant to be an ironic Christmas jumper but who knows?

Plus that's probably acrylic and going to bobble to hell after a few wears. Maybe the extra large bobbles are a distraction?

rightknockered · 15/09/2018 08:20

Anything with bloody stupid slogans
Agree re cold shoulders and bell sleeves. Also sick of polyester and print. Clothes that are dry clean only but shouldn't be. Flares, not seen anyone look good in them.
And those stupid bloody sleeves that seem to be on every knit, that are huge with a tight wrist - how am I supposed to get a jacket over them?!
And bloody sock boots. Look ridiculous. I'm sticking with DMs mostly.
And I don't want to buy polyester dresses, the only other choice appears to be silk. What happened to machine washable cotton? In good practical yet attractive styles?

Isentthesignal · 15/09/2018 08:23

Oh god yes - Dry clean only polyester - Me&Em - I'm looking at you!

Ellapaella · 15/09/2018 08:34

I may have to be thrown into room 101 for crimes against fashion as I have a similar yellow Mac to that one.. and I love it!
But to be fair I only actually wear it when it's raining so maybe there is some hope for me..?

PaulHollywoodsleftbollockhair · 15/09/2018 08:37

Coooooeeeeeee. I have found shite style gold whilst mooching on the old M&S website.

To be fair there are a couple of things that when saw them a week ago I was shocked because they seemed actually passable 😮

Order I am sad to say though has been restored with the usual deluge of tatty, hideousness that it has become known for.

May I present...... in no order of preference..........

A short fluffy dayglow leopard print jumper. For those who like to advertise a trend.

See the joy of a mid calf leopard print pleated skirt paired with a delightful sock boot, topped with a polyester blouse. Touch nothing metal style mavens.

Lastly, a complete waste of cashmere.

@PaulHollywoodsleftbollockhair there was a whole thread about that M & S jumper last week!🤣

Clionba · 15/09/2018 08:47

That M&S jumper!! My eyes! What are they smoking?

PaulHollywoodsleftbollockhair · 15/09/2018 08:58

I missed that thread.

Ruddy Hell though they are determined to resurrect everything crappy tread that hasn’t taken off in the last decade -only this year they are putting them together in the most eye burning ways possible..

Further entries- anthing pleated. BE GONE YOU PESTILENT WAFT MINGERS

OOOh

Fake suede aviator jackets. Bulky, tacky and they flatter no one.

Will someone think about all the chemicals?

The proliferation of these gets my goat.

Overly patterned maxi dresses last seen modelled by Mormon missionaries/ surrendered wives.

Soon to be seen on Bum woman, doubtless.

Bell sleeve with a rainbow stripe! Styled with overly ripped jeans.

Clionba · 15/09/2018 09:09

Dear god, those hideous maxi dresses! With Golden Goose trainers (see above). There's a blogger who has about a hundred (I actually started to count once, but gave up).

PenelopeShitStop · 15/09/2018 09:16

Golden Goose trainers, or 'refugee footwear' as I think of them.

Lauren0rder · 15/09/2018 09:16

Love this thread!!!

I’m gradually clearing out my crappy clothes and wondering what the hell im actually going to wear.

Bikinis are my biggest bug bear......
Millions of women the world over don’t want to wear a bikini that sits under their tummy. We want it over our tummy to flatten it slightly.
Idiot designers.

No to cold shoulder tops.
No to leopard print......it’s hideous.
No to fishnet pop socks with trainers.

CrabbityRabbit · 15/09/2018 09:21

That last picture is frump central Paul.

I got the actual rage in Sainsburys yesterday. They had a slouchy brown cardi which looked OK from a distance but on closer inspection...

Had no buttons down the front so as to go full flappy moth but DID have buttons going down one side where the seam under the armpit should be. So you get a breeze down the front and one kidney. Angry

CrabbityRabbit · 15/09/2018 09:23

I actually love the colours on that jumper Sleeping Blush

Not keen on the shape of the sleeves though.

CrabbityRabbit · 15/09/2018 09:25

Also that green jumper/grey midi skirt combo manages to make the model look huge! What will it do to a normal woman? Confused

Floaty2018 · 15/09/2018 09:25

This thread is HILARIOUS!!

Its a big fat NO from me on:

Cold shoulder tops
Paperbag waist trousers
Mules - flat or heeled
Flatforms
Slip on trainers (and anything white soled)
Neon leopard prints (though I like a standard leopard)
Pleated midi skirts - WHO LOOKS GOOD IN THEM?!
Hanky and asymmetric hems
Anything from Joules or Boden - overpriced and boring AF.

TeachesOfPeaches · 15/09/2018 09:36

Just googled Golden Goose trainers since I've never heard of them and they look absolutely filthy but cost almost £300? Shock

MaisyPops · 15/09/2018 10:16

TeachesOfPeaches
Also just googled them.
Are people paying hundreds for the privilege of not having to scuff their own trainers up? (I only ask because a few years ago a relative of mine was reluctant to wear their new white converse out because they were too white Confused)

SchnitzelVonKrumm · 15/09/2018 10:17

@Isentthesignal GAP tall (online only) trousers are a 36" leg.
