Face tinkerers - Profhilo is flippin' brill

I have started many threads over the years about the non-surgical fixes I have had: botox, liquid face lift, threads etc... Anyway, about a year and a half ago I did realise that I was looking a bit done - my honest friend told me and she was right - I thought I was subtle but tweakage is cumulative and before you know it ... well, you know.

I am still very interested in all that shizz so I popped to my clinic and asked if there was anything that would not freeze my face, make me look less knackered but still my age (46) . That's when they recommended Profhilo.
It's a course of two treatments a month apart. 5 injections on each side of the face with pure hyarulonic acid which then spreads across your face and encourages your own collagen and elastin to rebuild.V clever.
I had my first round on Tuesday so expected no results whatsoever but woke up on Saturday with the skin of a baby. It already feels dead plump, pores have disappeared and there is some slight lifting. It's not even supposed to be working yet but I feel I look so much better.

Cannot wait to see full results after two treatments.

Wow, such great results.

I agree, Botox in your 40s can give you a face of two halves (which then makes you look like you’ve had work done) and I do think sagging is more ageing than wrinkles.
This looks fab, watching with interest...

macymacy · 19/08/2018 20:50

I think it's definitely lifted and as such the naso labial folds look much better. However, I think the biggest difference is under my eyes, on top of my cheek bones. The lines were quite deep when I smiled and they have smoothed out so much. It's almost like I've had a face full of filler without the filler effect, it's honestly completely natural. I've been advised that it can last over a year but that you should have one treatment every 3-4 months which I will absolutely keep up. I feel like a new(er) woman!!

DameDoom · 21/08/2018 16:14

I've just had my second treatment - I took 2 cocodamol and felt absolutely nothing at all. In and out in 5 minutes.
Really looking forward to the final result and finances permitting, I think this is definitely something I would like to keep up.

Did you notice much impact in month one or does it all happen after the second session?

CiderwithBuda · 21/08/2018 16:51

Read this thread a couple of weeks ago and was intrigued. And just discovered that the guy I have been to for Botox and fillers does it. So I think I will book it.

I’m 54. Reasonable skin for my age. Didn’t like Botox. Fillers were ok. Like the idea that this will be just ‘me’ and my face will still move!

DameDoom · 21/08/2018 18:01

Definitely a difference in texture and firmness and less hollow eyes within month one. The nurse said the results 4 weeks after treatment 2 will be far better.

Very tempted!

Grrrrinch · 21/08/2018 20:45

Haven't read TFT...

Can anyone recommend a practitioner in the East Midlands?

Many thanks!

Milomonster · 21/08/2018 22:23

Love this thread. Has anyone heard of mesotherapy? I think it’s lots of tiny injection of vitamins into the skin and supposed to have a similar effect.

Truckingonandon · 21/08/2018 23:10

I'm really hoping that results are seen after the 2nd treatment, as I'm not really seeing any improvements so far and it's about 2 weeks after my first treatment now.

FabulousTomatoes · 21/08/2018 23:27

I’m interested in this. I’m too scared to have tear trough filler, but my tired hollow eyes really need sorting out. Does it help to soften crows feet?

lilraven · 22/08/2018 00:06

Booked in for 1st treatment on 10th September, thanks to this thread!

DameDoom · 22/08/2018 00:11

Truckingonandon I bet you have - it's just the waiting and looking at yourself everyday so you don't notice- that's why I recommend going in to a familiar shop you haven't been to for a while ... the mirror there showed a difference that was marked.

Do that and let us know. Of course, it's four weeks after the second treatment that results really start to show.

OP posts:
DameDoom · 22/08/2018 00:20

FabulousTomatoes yes it will soften your crows feet - it won't get rid of them but they will be soft and supple and appropriate.

If I could describe this treatment in one word: classy.

Showing my age there I know - it's the opposite to over-filled and cheap-looking.

Grrrinch- I'm East Midlands. I went to CP Aesthetics, she is a practising GP but has a clinic at her home.

Have we mentioned the moisture/lipid level difference? Crikey.

I was a natural oily-skinned type but after years of acne, then very heavy rosacea treatment and general aging, my skin has felt like sandpaper in recent years. I'm now back to having oilier skin and am just using my Biore Watery Essence Factor 50. No moisturiser at all.

Anyone three months on- after the 'artificial' results are done and the natural results have started? Still as worthwhile?

CiderwithBuda · 22/08/2018 17:05

I’m booked in for Friday morning. Guy I’m going to is a friend and I’ve had Botox and fillers with him before. He says the Profhilo is giving good results.

He said optimal protocol is two syringes on two occasions- 3to 4 week’s apart.

DameDoom · 22/08/2018 17:09

macymacy will be able to give you firsthand advice there SD1978 but I do know that this is the only thing my nurses (one mid forties, the other early fifties) really rate for themselves and would keep having done. They both have deft hands and can administer a really natural - in the beginning- look with Botox and filler and of course they have had a lot in the past.
They have said a top up at 6 months unless lifestyle and general skin condition to start with tells you otherwise.
What are your Profhilo goals?

OP posts:
FabulousTomatoes · 22/08/2018 17:10

DameDoom, that’s exactly what I want. I have botox for my no 11s and even that looks a bit obvious to me (although afaik no one else has noticed, even my dh!) however I will continue with that as I like the rested look.

I have also had it for my crows feet and it made me look weird! because I have deep eye hollows it seemed to make them even more obvious when I smiled, and while my crows feet were gone, I just had this one crease that ‘sank in’ to my sockets! I actually like crows feet as they are laughter lines, but mine are quite harsh and deep - probably as a result of my eye hollows. I do think that having filler in that area will help however a reputable surgeon I spoke to said he won’t go near the area with normal filler as it’s too delicate. Having just a bit of a moisture boost in that area would be perfect for me.

I really like the look of faces that ‘age gracefully’ and find the stuffed pillow / frozen look really unattractive.

Thanks for starting this thread!

Delatron · 22/08/2018 17:20

Interesting what you say about the Botox and crows feet Fabulous I found it made me look dead behind the eyes. I missed my crows feet and would look at friends with envy. It just looked weird on me. Also made my eyes look tired? Somehow. Botox is wearing off thankfully and eyes look smilier!

So if there is a more natural way to soften them without freezing, I’m all over that.

I’m wary about shelling out more money on tinkering. I spent £1500 on laser facials and although my skin looks a bit better and some sun damage was targeted I don’t feel
like it was worth the money.

Saymaname · 22/08/2018 17:23

@pearlkent I got soolantra via Superdrug doctor. Great stuff. Now on normal prescription.

SD1978 · 22/08/2018 17:26

I've not heard of it/ and not sure it's available here (in Australia) but looking to not have the tired and haggard look. I work permanent nights, 50+ hours in A&E and now being more 'mature' there is an affect happening which makes the mirror unappealing to me. Will have to find whet the Australian equvelent is.

DameDoom · 22/08/2018 17:40

Delatron I know that dead behind the eyes look - DH kept asking why I felt so down when I felt fine and the children in my class looked slightly scared of me. I think a couple of goes on Botox is fine but the muscles do start to work in a different way and before you know it... halfway to Amanda Holdenshire.

I have never dabbled in laser due to my rosacea and total wimpiness.

It has cost £500 for my two treatments in York although I've seen prices like £800 for one in London.

macymacy · 22/08/2018 17:47

I was having Botox under the eyes, to soften those lines below crows feet and at the top of the cheekbones. I felt really unnatural and couldn't smile properly. It was forced and didn't reach my eyes. So, I left it a while for the Botox to wear off and the Profhilo has had a much more natural effect. It's definitely softened them...they're still there, which is fine, but they are no where near as deep.

Also agree with Damedoom that the texture is so much better. I've had dry skin for years but it's so much more dewy and I honestly don't wear foundation unless I'm going out, I just don't need it. A spot of blusher and I'm good to go.

Here's a recent photo...no make up at all. Sorry it's a little dark but it's the best one I've got.
