I posted on chat a few days ago about this but thought this might be am even better place.

I am frumpy and I hate it.

I am 45, 3 stone overweight and a SAHM who feels has lost her mojo since motherhood descended 12 years ago.

I want to change so I am hoping to start a thread for any like minded fellow frumps.

I am thinking clothes, hair, make up, diet and style tips in one place to help release our inner goddess.

Anyone care to join?

Lost another 1lb this morning!

For anyone who is time poor, but looking to up their skincare/make up routine can I suggest IT Cosmetics CC+. It's a lovely, light foundation that is also a concealer, anti-aging serum AND is SPF 50. What's not to love? I apply it every morning + mascara + tinted lip balm and it makes me feel a little bit more groomed.

I've recommended it to all my girlfriends and they've all fallen in love with it too.

auditqueen · 01/08/2018 09:21

JillyBear I downloaded an app called nutracheck which is sort of like MFP and it gives you the option to choose either a low fat, low carb or balanced diet. I went for low carb and have managed to keep within the limit. I'm not a big sugar person and as it's been so hot haven't had much pasta or potatoes! Just lots of protein. I'm no expert though, sorry. Booze is the thing I need to cut down more on. This week is the first week in ages where I haven't drunk every night.

Thanks Jonty. I think I need a referral to a respiratory consultant to be honest. But have been avoiding my GP.....

MissMarplesKnitting · 01/08/2018 09:23

@faeriequeen try the Niko Niko technique. I struggled with c25k but now can do 45 minutes of Niko Niko jogging happily.

AgathaTabithaBagatha · 01/08/2018 09:28

Do you use a pulse meter MissMarple?

No wine or snacking after dinner last night at 7pm. No eating until lunch time today including skipping breakfast. Isn’t it strange that I’m fine doing this 16/8 way of eating as I’m not too hungry. But once I start eating I want more. The slimming world diet just doesn’t work for me sadly.
I’m also trying to motivate myself by looking at styles I like. Love Jennifer Aristons pared-down style of scoop neck T’s and khakis/jeans n blazer. Copied that the other day with a Uniqlo jersey blazer, linen v neck T,H&M khakis and tan wedge flip flops and felt good.

Me please! I'm late 30s, put on loads of weight after getting married & just lost 3 stone by calorie counting whilst breastfeeding, have about a stone to go. I bought a load of clothes when I was heavier that we're mainly designed to hide my figure, they now look terrible! I can now fit into some of my old jeans but they're all rather dated hipster bootcut ones which my post-baby stomach hangs over, not a good look! I used to go for a simple, classic style with smooth silhouettes & block colours etc, but since gaining weight all my clothes are patterned for weight-disguising purposes. I'd really like to get back to my old look, but without spending too much as I'm still hoping to drop another dress size. Hints & tips gratefully received!

BettyBooHoo · 01/08/2018 10:26

I love Jennifer Aniston's style too. Does she have an Instagram account or Pinterest board I could follow?

Teta I'm exactly the same. Find it very easy to fast from 7pm to 1pm the next day, but soon as I eat I am so hungry and want to pig out.

faeriequeen · 01/08/2018 10:47

Ooh thank you. I will try. 16/8 Sounds good too.

teta · 01/08/2018 10:48

Lots of outfit inspiration of Jennifer Ariston on Pinterest Bettyhoohoo It’s interesting she really hasn’t changed her style too much over the years. I also have a corresponding scarf obsession which I can’t indulge in at the moment - too warm.
Let’s all motivate each other to stick to whatever diet works for them. What do you think?
Maybe no wine for 5 nights a week and no sweetners. As they have been shown to be highly detrimental to weight loss. And I need motivating to stick to a diet.
My discipline is shot!

JontyDoggle37 · 01/08/2018 12:28

Just been looking at Jennifer too.. interestingly, she always wears a belt, probably helps ensure things don’t slouch etc

AgathaTabithaBagatha · 01/08/2018 12:43

Jennifer Aniston is very good at rolled up jeans. She has great legs.

JontyDoggle37 · 01/08/2018 13:53

Just found this site - you can custom order blazers for about £99: <a class="break-all" href="https://www.google.co.uk/amp/a/s/www.sumissura.com/en-uk/women/custom-blazers/%3Famp%3D1?ampru=www.sumissura.com/en-uk/women/custom-blazers/?amp%3D1%26utm_medium%3Dcpc%26utm_source%3Dgoogle%26utm_campaign%3D973679892_Sumi_TXT_UK%26utm_term%3D%252Bwomen%27s%2520%252Bblazers%26gclid%3DEAIaIQobChMIwIPzovLL3AIVGZzVCh11lg3-EAAYASAAEgIwM_D_BwE&amps=AONaWEnN4bFRFdiOSRq7cU5sNLFaSDTSrQ" rel="nofollow" target="_blank">www.google.co.uk/amp/a/s/www.sumissura.com/en-uk/women/custom-blazers/%3Famp%3D1?ampru=www.sumissura.com/en-uk/women/custom-blazers/?amp%3D1%26utm_medium%3Dcpc%26utm_source%3Dgoogle%26utm_campaign%3D973679892_Sumi_TXT_UK%26utm_term%3D%252Bwomen%27s%2520%252Bblazers%26gclid%3DEAIaIQobChMIwIPzovLL3AIVGZzVCh11lg3-EAAYASAAEgIwM_D_BwE&amps=AONaWEnN4bFRFdiOSRq7cU5sNLFaSDTSrQ

nancybelle · 01/08/2018 16:53

I remember years ago reading an interview with Jennifer Anniston and she gets all of her clothes adjusted to sit better on her including basics like t shirts. She gets them nipped in to flatter her figure.

happypoobum · 01/08/2018 17:45

Lovestyle40 is fab!! Thanks so much. The woman is about my size and my colouring so it's a perfect match Smile

faeriequeen · 01/08/2018 18:04

Starting 16:8 tomorrow :)

JillyBear · 01/08/2018 18:06

Thanks auditqueen. I have used MFP in the past. Must dust off my Blood Sugar Diet book and have another read Smile.

WheelyCote · 01/08/2018 18:07

Hopping on

MyCatGerald · 01/08/2018 20:47

Does anyone have a good blogger/IGer for a UK 14/16 48 year old? Would be great to have some inspiration. Thanks.

BettyBooHoo · 01/08/2018 21:17

Unfortunately most of the 40+ bloggers and grammers I know are very thin to the point of looking slightly scrawny Sad

DULLDull · 02/08/2018 06:57

I still haven't got round to clearing our my wardobe. But I did paint my nails for the first time in years Hmm. I need to redo them as I made such a hash of it.

OP posts:
JontyDoggle37 · 02/08/2018 07:52

Dull glad you got your nails done, and practice makes perfect. Wardrobe today!
I’ve done a 40 minute run/walk programme this morning using the ‘run for weight loss’ app. Was very pleasant in the morning sunshine. Taking 3 bags of clothes to the tip/charity shop today as well. Feeling lighter emotionally as a result.

MotherFeeder · 02/08/2018 09:28

I've been off the board a couple days and just about to walk the dog, which counts as exercise right?

When I'm back I'm applying Nailtiques protein varnish which should help my weak brittle nails.

I'm trying to cut out bad carbs like rice, noodles and potatoes as I just don't the extra calories.

What is 16:8 please?

BettyBooHoo · 02/08/2018 10:36

Lost another 2lbs!! Did go to bed quite hungry though. Tummy feels flatter.

Mother it's when you confine your eating to only an 8 hour window per day. I have started doing this, so don't eat between about 6pm and lunchtime the following day. It means your body gets to fast and fully digest any food in your system rather than always topping up your tummy.

Quantumblue · 02/08/2018 10:52

Can I crawl aboard? Late 50s, overweight and tired. Have never found my style! I have lost 7 kilos this year so want to continue in the right direction.
