I posted on chat a few days ago about this but thought this might be am even better place.

I am frumpy and I hate it.

I am 45, 3 stone overweight and a SAHM who feels has lost her mojo since motherhood descended 12 years ago.

I want to change so I am hoping to start a thread for any like minded fellow frumps.

I am thinking clothes, hair, make up, diet and style tips in one place to help release our inner goddess.

Anyone care to join?

I’ve found several brown leather/suede jackets in a cupboard that I bought maybe 10 years ago. Plus a orange sheepskin coat. In my defense i lived in Asia at the time and bought these heavily discounted. But I need to check they haven’t discoloured and de-spider them!! I’ve also found a mustard cashmere scarf, a brown cashmere dress and a beige cashmere cardigan, I think I have the beginnings of a new autumn wardrobe. I’ve also found several
Wide-legged trousers from years ago that are really well made. It just goes to show that fashion recycles every ten years or so.

I am in a de-frumping process at the moment too.

I culled my wardrobe - summer sruff put away , things that I'll never wear again to recycle.
Coveted a padded filled coat but found a twill parka (black) that I bought in March that fits the bill. Not too hot, lightweight, covers my bum. So, no coat needed.

Did a NoSpend August which was enlightening!

Planning a Stop-Tober (not smoking/drinking , I do neither) of sweets'n'cakes (did it last October).

Dyed my hair , cacked up the colour, rescued it . Step up the use of masques , there was an article I read said don't use conditioner , use masques. I could sleep in one , shampoo off then use serum.

Doing the Korean Italy cloth exfoliating every week or so.

Bought myself a cardi- purple. Out of my comfort zone with the colour but provided no-one mistakes me for Barney the Dinosaur , I'll try it.

My nails are never good but I wear gloves at work and wash my hands maybe 20-30 times a day at work , more at home (shitty NHS soap too)

Skin is okay , no issues
Bit of holiday tan still lingering.
I need an epilator so I don't lose the colour (my old one is defunked) by waxing or shaving my top layer of skin off Grin

I've put on about a stone in the holidays (I've been poorly) so don't fit into a lot of my clothes.

I need to get some clothes that don't look awful. I wondered about some bootcut jeggings (I didn't even know they existed!) - I can't wear jeggings or skinnies as they give me parsnip legs. Anyone tried them?

teta · 10/09/2018 20:25

I’ve just tried on the J Lewis and partners cashmere jumper I ordered with my eBay slush fund. It’s lovely quality and a fantastic cobalt colour. But in no way slouchy as it’s meant to be, in a 14. Hence it’s going back. I really hate sizing issues!
Mike tv have you tried wide cropped or M&S relaxed skinny’s? They are flattering on my chunky legs.
70isalimit you sound good and ready for Winter. I’m back on my weekday alcohol ban having drunk my own body weight in wine over my spanish holiday. And have had brown highlights added to my brassy blonde frazzled hair.

Hi teta - I can't wear cropped jeans/trousers, they make my legs look short!

Found some bootcut stretchy jeans that I think look ok though - Tesco amazingly

teta · 11/09/2018 09:20

miketv I have short legs too. I’m only 5 ft 3 and size 14. Short narrow cropped look awful on. For some reason wide legged crops look really good. I’ve been wearing M&S wide cropped jeans all summer and even my 79 year old mum likes them on me. There are some black ones on M&S online at the moment but I’m waiting for them to come back in to stock. I’ve also tried on the M&S jumbo cord cropped trousers. But sadly the material is too chunky and heavy to hang correctly. Today I have on Me&em khaki jersey cropped palazzo pants that I bought in the sale. I’m wearing with tan ankle boots and a khaki H&M t shirt.
