www.toa.st/uk/product/sale+womens+dresses/c1jcq/cotton+linen+cross+back+dress.htm?categoryref=%2fcategory.aspx%3fcategoryid%3dsale%2520womens%2520dresses%26seoterm%3dsale%2520womens%2520dresses%26&pcat=sale+womens+dresses&adimage=&clr=C1JCQ_Khaki_sw

It doesn't look like much in the pics but the belt is really long and versatile so you can either wear it loose or wrap it round a couple of times for a more 'cinched-in' look. The skirt length is very flattering and there are three huge pockets!

The khaki version arrived today and I loved it so much that I've just ordered the blue as well. i have never ever done that before.

Size down, though - it comes up big. I thank you Grin

I’m sure you look amazing in it, OP, but I couldn’t design a dress that would look worse on me! My willowy, elegant sister would look lovely and cool and sophisticated wafting about in this dress (and she’d crack a smile, unlike the model!) but as an hourglass who had recently expanded quite a bit outwards I would be mistaken for a sack of potatoes if I attempted it.

Also, very much unlike the poster who would confine herself indoors rather than wear a dress a third of this price, I did my summer shopping and got three dresses for half the price of this one. I don’t think I belong on Style & Beauty.

BitOutOfPractice · 20/06/2018 11:08

I don't know what that colour is. Gruel? Joylessness? Drizzle?

That would just hand from my boobs and make me look like a giant wall of sludge

Confusssed · 20/06/2018 12:28

As a general rule of thumb, if a dress instantly makes me think "19th century Russian peasant woman" I know it's not for me.

PolkaHots · 20/06/2018 12:44

I think the person saying that about 3 dresses for that price just made herself look like a mean snob.

junglebookisthebest · 20/06/2018 13:27

I can understand if the op doesn't want to after all the comments- but would love to see how this dress looks as I'm also 5'7 size 14. Just can't visualise how it looks on someone like me!!!

Chewbecca · 20/06/2018 13:52

I'd love to wear a dress like that, I can imagine you looking all cool and arty in it.

Doesn't work on my big tummy, 16/18 & 5ft tall look sadly.

BitOutOfPractice · 20/06/2018 14:04

I don't think the person saying that about 3 dresses for that price just made herself look like a mean snob.^ I know^ she has. Grin

expatinscotland · 20/06/2018 14:05

Yikes! Econowife look.

bathildab · 20/06/2018 14:16

Econowife 😂

HalfStar · 20/06/2018 14:45

I think it's beautiful. I love Toast and have a gorgeous top from there that I feel quietly expensive and effortless in Grin but in general the aesthetic doesn't quite suit me or my life.

OP glad you found a great dress you love. Last year I posted a dress I loved and the response was also general mockery/incredulousness. We all suit different things!

NobodysMot · 20/06/2018 20:42

Funny thread, even the humourless posts are funny. Im sorry for insinuating that 3 dresses for £100 might be less than flattering. Ill repent. Ill don a sack cloth (for £100) and ashes

Oldraver · 20/06/2018 21:46

Seriously...Asda's £14/16 linen blend dresses look miles better than that

EveningHare · 21/06/2018 20:17

@Halfstar its all in the posting style

"This is an incredibly flattering summer dress"
or
"Found a dress that makes me look amazing!"

the first one makes me think of my DM who has NO idea what i like to wear and is always trying to get me into linen, the second one makes me feel like a friend is sharing something really cool with me

CaffeineAndCrochet · 21/06/2018 20:34

Feckity. My first time on the Toast website and I really like their dresses.

CantCumWontCum · 24/06/2018 18:33

I bought it despite the doubters on this thread! I love it.

I'm a size 12/14 and 5'8". The size 10 fits me well so the sizing is well off. But it's lovely to wear and I was complemented several times so it must be flattering despite the sack of potato/handmaid look.

Thanks @UnnecessaryFennel!!

Aughrim18 · 24/06/2018 23:52

Toast also pay their workers a living wage unlike many other companies.

Thats why they are more expensive.

If you can afford it and it suits you - a great company to support

NorthernLurker · 25/06/2018 00:01

I think it’s hideous and will be a pita to iron.
