www.toa.st/uk/product/sale+womens+dresses/c1jcq/cotton+linen+cross+back+dress.htm?categoryref=%2fcategory.aspx%3fcategoryid%3dsale%2520womens%2520dresses%26seoterm%3dsale%2520womens%2520dresses%26&pcat=sale+womens+dresses&adimage=&clr=C1JCQ_Khaki_sw

It doesn't look like much in the pics but the belt is really long and versatile so you can either wear it loose or wrap it round a couple of times for a more 'cinched-in' look. The skirt length is very flattering and there are three huge pockets!

The khaki version arrived today and I loved it so much that I've just ordered the blue as well. i have never ever done that before.

Size down, though - it comes up big. I thank you Grin

POCKETS - three of them! Grin

I bet it'd be itchy on me. Linen

UnnecessaryFennel · 18/06/2018 22:18

Can't see either of those nobody's.

I like Cos though. I was wearing a black Cos dress today that made me look like an evil dentist. So it is possible none of you should take style advice from me, I suppose...

She looks like sometching out of the handmaids tale

Hobbes8 · 18/06/2018 22:18

I always worry that if something looks a bit drab and potato sacky on an actual professional model than people will run screaming in horror when they see it on me.

SheGotBetteDavisEyes · 18/06/2018 22:18

I'm a big fan of Toast. I must somehow suit the style/sizing as whenever I'm wearing a Toast dress (I usually stick with the dresses), I forget all about it, but always feel right.

The quality is great. I usually pay about £180 for a dress, but wear them so much, it shakes down as good value.

UnnecessaryFennel · 18/06/2018 22:21

Bette, me too. I have a Toast wool shirt that I'm sure is prime 'workhouse' wear but I love it and I always get loads of compliments when I wear it.

and offers of extra gruel

I think its awful looking on the model.

Can you post a pic on you op without your head etc in for anonymity, to see it.

PineappleLava · 18/06/2018 22:22

Ha Rio I was thinking Handmaid too!

GuntyMcGee · 18/06/2018 22:22

@RioTheParrott my thoughts exactly! She looks like she's in Martha uniform, and about as happy about it as you would be working as a house slave in Gilead.

It's not for me. I can't see it being flattering at all, the apron style back doesn't do it for me, neither does the weird length.

But then I do find places like Toast and Cos seem to churn out what look like overpriced duvet covers and sell them as dresses and I can't see why people rave about them.

HollowTalk · 18/06/2018 22:23

I bet anything that one of us will see someone with that dress on backwards.

What's with that huge pocket at the back, though? Surely you wouldn't put anything in it and it looks ridiculous. The front of the dress is nice, though as someone said, it does look like a Handmaid's Tale dress.

elephantscanring · 18/06/2018 22:23

Looks like it’s on backwards. Creased. Looks not very flattering. Length is not good. And wtf do you need three pockets? Nah.

ShirleyPhallus · 18/06/2018 22:23

Everything from toast and cos is so drab and baggy. Don’t you all feel like big baggy sacks of potatoes wearing stuff like that? Don’t you yearn for something more tailored that has some proper shape to it?

IMBU · 18/06/2018 22:25

I don’t like it at all

UnnecessaryFennel · 18/06/2018 22:26

Well, I think I look lovely.

Atalune · 18/06/2018 22:26

I love toast. There is an outlet near me (smug). I have been wearing the indigo sweater dress with a scoop back, buttons and pockets to death. It’s a dream to wear and feels very comfortable.

MustShowDH · 18/06/2018 22:28

I liked it until I saw the back. I'm convinced people would think I'd put it on back to front!

JuicySwan · 18/06/2018 22:28

I don’t understand modelling at all. Clearly the photographer was going “Right, pop those hideous sandals on. No - not the Crocs - the REALLY ugly ones. Right. Shove your hands in the pockets. Push your hands forward so the dress sticks out.... lovely! Now slouch. No... really slouch. Bit further.... right now imagine your dog died horribly. Lovely...... bit more...... no it died REALLY horribly..... bit sadder..... aaaand feet at ten to two...... perfect!!”

clippityclop · 18/06/2018 22:28

i'm size 8 but 5' 1" so wold look like a sack of spuds in that and have a bit of bra strap showing at the back too. The colours are pretty depressing. Linen's fine for well structured but airy dresses. I think that would be pretty horrible to wear in warm weather.

NobodysMot · 18/06/2018 22:29

@juicySwan, I'm losing it laughing at that description there!

NobodysMot · 18/06/2018 22:30

same here @clippityclop, I'm 5'1 and not as slim as you, size 10, but I might as well wear fitted clothes I find. I'd look Amish. Too short to be Amish maybe :-p

Shambu · 18/06/2018 22:32

If you like the sackcloth look.

OnlyonMN · 18/06/2018 22:33

Is the idea of this dress a two for one? you get bored of wearing it one way and so switch it round and wear it the other way. £50 a side Confused

MsSensibleWay · 18/06/2018 22:33

It looks really lovely. If only it had bust darts, I'm not sure my f cups would fit in it!

Ohyesiam · 18/06/2018 22:35

I love it, and I would love to wear these simple , pared down clothes but they really don’t suit me.
They look so intelligent and independent and untouchable!

But shapeless and big breasts just don’t go, unless you are otherwise waif like i guess .

I moon around Cos lusting after the fabric.
It will never be...,,,
